Book 9: Chapter 27
Book 9: Chapter 27
While Vermudol and Brutus were taking care of a dozen or so Shields of Light Chivalric Order knights, Olred and Ykslaas had reached the back entrance to the castle.
Olred was about to reach for his giant war axe to break down the door, but realizing that he was still holding Ykslaas, he gave up and just kicked off the lock.
You could have just let me down, you know?
Oh, right.
Well that was probably the best way to go about it anyway.
After smoothing out her ruffled clothes, Ykslaas drew her Black Rose Sword.
Intruders!
Theyre at the entrance to the rear garden! Move, move!
Arriving to meet them one by one were knights wielding halberds and wearing the same armor as the Shields of Light Chivalric Order from earlier.
Ykslaas made a very clearly annoyed face upon seeing them, and sheathed her Black Rose Sword to instead take out her short cane.
More of those knights wearing heavy armor Olred, Ill leave the advance guard to you.
Cant you just use your Magic Sword?
What are you saying? Im supposed to be the weak but strong-willed sheltered girl whos come to participate in the battle of justice, remember? It wouldnt be right for me to just take care of everything in an instant with a swing of my Magic Sword.
Okay, okay, if thats what you wish.
Olred responded with an uncaring tone and took out his giant war axe.
A weak little girl, huh? Youd be better suited as the villainous girl storming into the castle laughing
Hey, at least lower your voice a little when you make remarks like that.
Theyd hear us, anyway.
Olred mumbled You really are a villainous girl as Ykslaas kicked him again and again from behind, and then proceeded to charge towards the Shields of Light Chivalric Order.
Dont blame me for dying from getting in my way, now!
Olreds large war axe was not fit for swinging around in a tiny room.
As for the halberd-users, even if they were in a tiny room, they were still able to thrust with ease.
With this in mind, it was only natural to assume that the halberd-wielding Shields of Light Chivalric Order would have the advantage here.
However, the small hall leading to the rear garden was wide enough to not completely limit Olreds axe swinging.
Guwah?!
Gah!
The vanguard of the Shields of Light was easily blown away into the air by Olred.
W-Whats with that monstrous strength?!
Dont falter, get into defensive formation!
The several Shields of Light gathered up and charged at Olred with their shields up.
If enough heavily armored knights were to line up with their shields out, theyd be able to create quite the defensive wall.
Unfortunately, there wasnt much room to allow for too many knights to line up all at once within the castle, but it was enough to take care of at least an individual or two.
An individual or two that belonged to humanity, that is.
You call that defensive?!
Olred once again swung is giant war axe around, and the Shields of Lights formation instantly crumbled.
I-Its no use! This guy is just way too strong!
Dont be ridiculous, he isnt pacing himself at all! Hell tire himself out in no time like that!
Uwah! Hes jumping towards us!
Olred jumped straight towards the middle of the Shields of Light and landed while kicking away a randomly selected knight.
Oraaaaaa!!
Olred simply blindly swung his axe around him with all his might, and that alone was enough to send the knights flying one by one.
Thanks to the heavy armor, there were no casualties, but there wasnt a single knight that was able to stand up again from that.
What the heck, guys?! What kind of defense is that! Is that armor just for show?!
Youre not really one to talk about armor.
Ykslaas let out a yawn while looking at Olreds thorny armor.
Her short cane had already returned to the back of her waist. She was completely in spectator mode.
The rampaging Olred was having fun, and one could say that he almost looked relieved.
He had been working as the South General Raktors assistant lately, which might have been pretty rough on him. Thats what Ykslaas thought to herself.
E-Even if we cant take out that monster, we could probably still take care of you!
What a pathetic thing to say. Dont you feel embarrassed at all for saying that?
One of the Shields of Light took out his sword and approached Ykslaas with a snicker.
She wondered where his shield and halberd went, and then after looking around, she saw signs of something getting thrown into the ground along with a shield and halberd laying around them.
Oh, he must have regained consciousness after getting blown away by Olred, Ykslass thought to herself.
The knight stopped right when Ykslaas was within his swords range, and then pointed his sword towards her.
Ill ask this just in case, but do you wish to surrender?
That should be my line, no? I think itd be better for your sake if you surrendered. Its not like youd be able to win against Olred, anyway.
The knight twitched and turned around in response to those words and after seeing Olred rampaging about, he once again turned back to face Ykslaas.
Im sure that man would change his mind once I take you under my control.
Hearing that, Ykslaas made a pitiful and scornful smile towards the knight.
You really are pathetic. Youre equipped with that grand armor that any child would dream of wearing, and those are the words that come out of your mouth? You sound like one of those henchmen of the evil prime minister you hear about in fairytales and such.
Guh!
Well, whatever. Feel free to come at me. Ill gracefully take down any evil knight that challenges me.
As Ykslaas drew her Black Rose Sword, the knight thrust his blade with a refined motion.
Thatll show you Huh?
Ykslaas had dodged the attack with a calm expression on her face.
However, the knight moved at a speed faster than Ykslaas had anticipated and grabbed a hold of her arm.
There!
He then threw Ykslaas onto the ground, letting out a sound that seemed to tear through the air.
Ykslaas grimaced from the pain of her body slamming down, and the knight threw his foot down onto her as to further corner her.
While it may have been a shameful tactic, it was only natural for him to have taken this route to prevent her from counter attacking with any magic. It was the type of polished combat technique that would be used against robbers that wouldnt listen to reason.
He assumed that a young girl like Ykslaas would instantly faint from getting slammed on by his foot, however
Attack Guard.
Uwoh?!
His foot bounced off the Attack Guard that was put up, and he fell back from losing his balance.
Ykslaas then stood up with a smile on her face.
Fufu, you sure surprised me. I never would have thought a heavily-armed knight would use hand-to-hand combat You must actually be well trained.
Ykslass took out the short cane from behind her and headed towards the knight.
Realizing what this meant, the knight once again charged towards Ykslaas.
Ill give you a reward Dar Vepali.
A wave of black light came out from her short cane and made a direct hit on the knight, causing him to quickly fall under heavy drowsiness.
After almost collapsing, he quickly returned to his senses but when he looked up again, Ykslaas was no longer in front of him.
He then heard a magic chant coming from behind him.
Awaken, come forth. Denizen of the land of darkness, I command you. Come to me, shadow priest. Reach out your hand and show this arrogant fool their place.
There you are!
The knight spun around.
In front of him was Ykslaas with her short cane readied.
Shadaul Bind.
Uwaaah?!
The knights shadow began moving, making a disgusting sound.
A black hand rose up from the ground and grabbed his head.
What is this magic?!
You want to know? Im not going to tell you, though.
Ykslaas began laughing to herself in enjoyment.
She grabbed the hem of her skirt and made a refined curtsy.
Well then, sweet dreams.
The knight then slammed into the ground with a thunk, and fell unconscious.
As the sounds of Olreds mad rampage still echoed throughout the room, the sight of Ykslaass cute but evil smile floated across the knights mind
