The Reversal of a Son-in-law

Chapter 11 Little Tricks

Long Chen did admire how daring Zhao Churan was and her angelic, breathtaking curves, but that was all. "Too bad I'm a married man. If I wasn't, I could have made some mistakes," he said with a smile.

"You're married?" Zhao Churan almost twisted around in shock, but she ended up pulling a muscle in her neck, causing her to groan in pain.

It didn't sound right.

He took a deep breath and continued, "Lie down. Let's fix that pain."

"Alright." She lay down and mumbled, "I thought I'd met my Prince Charming, but it turns out he's someone else's prince."

"Some day, you're gonna meet your prince." He reached his hands and began his treatment.

No matter how serious this kind of cervical spondylosis was, it was nothing when it came to him. He didn't even need to apply the high-level medical skills inherited from the Celestial Doctor.

Both his hands were running down her back as he directed the mysterious energy from his body to his palm, accurately injecting it into her essential acupuncture points.

Zhao Churan squeezed her eyes. She had never felt this at ease before. It was almost heavenly, indescribable.

She found herself reluctant for his hands to leave when the session ended ten minutes later. "Are we done?" she asked.

"Yes, it's over. If everything goes well, your neck pain won't act up anytime soon. Still, you should also pay attention to getting enough rest. Avoid sitting in front of a computer screen all day long. You should move around and exercise appropriately," Long Chen commented.

"I know," Zhao Churan sat up and stretched her back. She didn't feel any pain anymore and was surprised at his wonderous technique. She turned to Long Chen. "Let's talk business, Long Chen."

"What?"

"From now on, you'll have a session with me once a week, around four times a month. In return, I'll give you 40 grand a month. How's that sound?" Excitement filled her eyes. After taking a closer look, she found that he was quite pretty for a man. And the more she stared at him, the more she noticed his attractiveness. Her heart skipped a beat.

Yet, Long Chen rejected her without even thinking about it. Her residence was too close to the Li's. If someone saw him going in and out of her place, he would never be able to clear his name.

"Why not?" Zhao Churan was unwilling to accept this. "Was it the money? If so, tell me your price."

"It's not about the money. It's inappropriate. Besides, I've already cured your neck pain, so you don't need any sessions with me anymore," Long Chen answered.

She bit her red lips lightly. "But I really like your technique. It's so relaxing. That's why I asked for your service."

"I see no reason for any further discussions on this topic. I should go now." Long Chen stood up to leave.

"Hey, wait. Don't leave yet. I haven't paid you for our session."

"I was joking. Keep the fee." He smiled.

"You can't leave just yet. You've fixed my neck, so I want to thank you properly for it. I just went for groceries, so you take a seat, and I'll cook you a meal. How's that sound?" She read his expressions anxiously, afraid that he'd still take his leave.

Long Chen gave it a good thought before he agreed. Li Yuechan should still be signing the contract at Wang's place, and it would make no sense to return to a home that wasn't his.

She giggled. "Okay, hold on. I'll be right back."

She slipped her feet into her slippers. But when she got up, her foot twisted, and she lost her balance, falling right into Long Chen's arms.

Out of instinct, he caught her, and her scent rushed upward to him in a light breeze. Their eyes met, and the temperature seemed to have risen sharply.

As she stared at his heart-breaking face, her heart raced. It was thumping wildly in a complete mess, and her cheeks flushed red.

"Are you alright?" Long Chen helped her up.

"I-I'm okay. I swear it was an accident. Y-you sit still. I'll make you something to eat." She dashed into the kitchen.

His gaze followed her until she was out of sight, and a smile broke over his face. She was cute, he thought. And not long after, he was tasting the food she'd meticulously prepared. It wasn't bad.

Zhao Churan sat beside him, constantly putting food on his plate and talking to him.

The two of them chatted for a long time and finally got to know each other. Of course, it was only small talk.

"So you're the CEO of Chenxing Culture Corp. I've heard of you before. No, to be precise, I've read the novels on your webpage," said Long Chen as he grinned.

"No way, you read web novels too? You're saying that to flatter me, aren't you?" Zhao Churan was doubtful.

"I'm being serious," Long Chen explained, "I used to read web novels when I was bored. I even spent a lot of money on them. Now that I've met you, Ms. President, could I get a free lifetime membership to read books?"

She chuckled. "No problem. Well, you could even get me for free."

She wasn't being serious again. Any ordinary man would find it hard to resist her charm: she had a mature woman's intellectual beauty and a young girl's youthful vigor. It was a contradictory perfect combination.

"I can't fool around. They'll kick me out of the house." Long Chen laughed.

"No way, a live-in son-in-law?"

"Yes, indeed."

"Then you must love your wife very much."

"Maybe." Long Chen wasn't sure if he really loved Li Yuechan, but he could confirm his feelings for her.

Zhao Churan pondered his words carefully. And interpreting them, the intelligent girl, as she was, sensed something. "If you're ever in trouble or bored, you can come to me anytime. I could see we're going to become friends who can share everything with one another." Her smile was radiant, beautiful like an angel descended from the heavens.

"I'll be honored. I should get going. Take care, and call me if you need anything." He smiled at her.

"Okay, go ahead. Remember to add me on WeChat. My ID's my phone number."

"What a coincidence, mine too." Long Chen waved his hand and walked to the door.

"Then I'll send you a request. If you dare reject it, I'm going to spam you with calls until you do," Zhao Churan yelled from behind.

...

After leaving Zhao Churan's house, Long Chen took a detour before returning to the Li residence. Stepping into the house, he bumped into Li Yuexin with an angry, dark look on her face.

As soon as Li Yuexin saw him, she jumped like someone had stepped on her tail. She cursed, "Long Chen, you piece of trash! Did you do something to stop the Wangs from signing the contract with me? Why would they ask for my sister instead?"

He shrugged and said indifferently, "You already said that yourself. How can a trash like me have that kind of holy power?"

"Don't look so smug. Remember this. I won't let you off." She gritted her teeth.

"It's okay if you target me, but if you dare to hurt your sister, you'll have to bear the consequences," he spoke solemnly.

"What are you talking about, Long Chen?" Han Min couldn't help but frown. "Don't even think you can ignore our family rules just because you've closed a deal. It was all your little tricks that got you lucky. As one of us, you need to know your place. One deal doesn't mean anything."

"Oh, is what you're saying, Mother, that this project is dispensable for the Li's? Then, should I call Wang Wanli to cancel our agreement?"

"No, no, no," Li Shiqi interjected, "Don't listen to your mother's nonsense. You've contributed a lot to the success of this project. No one can deny your hard work."

"Have you forgotten? Li Shiqi? If he hadn't saved Wang Wanli, where's his place in negotiating this deal? It's just..."

"Shut up. If you have no idea how to speak, then don't. Go back to your room." Li Shiqi interrupted Han Min's words.
