The Record Of Barton's Fantastical Events

Chapter 142 - Crack

Chapter 142: Chapter 11 Crack

James’ back was rubbed against the wall, the hem of his coat was lifted up, and his suspended feet finally landed on the ground. The unexpected impact made James’ ankle hurt, and the blood flow drawn by the opposite force finally returned to normal.

But James’s mind was in chaos, and there seemed to be countless points of light hitting him constantly. At the moment when he was enveloped in red light, the scenes he had experienced reappeared in his mind. The emotions of the past were drawn out inexplicably, as if he was living the past again!

The rapid emotional transition made James’ pupils constrict, red light spots kept hitting him, and the images kept switching. The events that even James never remembered were evoked and reproduced by Crowlie’s soul search. This was the mark of the soul’s connection to the body. It was composed of memories of trivial events. It was those marks that separated the countless souls that existed in the world and define them as individuals.

Birth, childhood… Every interaction that James participated in and the world was explored by Crowlie!

When the last light spot hits James, it seemed like time was being manipulated.

In the electric-like humming sound, the bright red light stretched and extinguished the shadows of the bricks on the wall of the dark alley! James clenched the knife in his left hand and put the gun held by his right hand on his left wrist. This was a standard attack posture. “Destroying the opponent’s container” was James’ plan.

But even if James wanted to speed up his pace, the fear of the unknown still slowed his body instinctively.

One side of James’ body was leaning against the wall, his shoulder muscles swelled due to contraction, and the hand holding the weapon was pressed against his lower body. His vision was slowly turning, and the red light on the wall kept brightening in the direction he turned.

There were still burning traces on the edge, the ashes were blown away by the airflow, and James’ eyes were filled with flying ashes. Among them, there seemed to be a person surrounded by ashes!

The image froze and reversed!

In the electric-like humming sound, the bright red light stretched and extinguished the shadow of the bricks on the wall of the dark alley!

The flashing bright red was slowed down, and James kept the contradiction between mind and body instinct and looked forward. The bright red light was like a smudged color block on an oil painting, constantly fainting from the dark alley! When the protruding bricks on the wall touched the faint light, they began to cast shadows on the wall!

James clearly saw that the black shadow was wrapped in a halo, stretched and extended after the protruding bricks until it extended to the other side of the dark alley!

The shadow disappeared, the bright red light disappeared, and everything returned to the original dimness of the dark alley.

The sharp humming sound seemed to have stopped at a certain point. James was still trapped in a certain emotional crack. From the turning of the dark alley, the bright red color block was blooming once again! The red light kept pushing against the dim light in the dark alley in front of James’ eyes, pulling and extending the shadows of the protruding bricks on the opposite wall.

This shadow continued to elongate with the light, until it touched the turning of the other wall, and was completely blocked by the light!

A trace of emotion was inserted into the mind of James, who was in the emotional crack. The road he entered was the only entrance to the dark alley, and he could block the opponent.

When the shadow and light that had been pulled to the limit disappeared again, James’ tightened shoulder was pressed against the wall on the side. While slowly adjusting his breathing, James’ gaze turned along with the source of the constantly shining light.

The canvas, which was constantly smudged, seemed to have been sprayed with large chunks of paint by mistake, and the white light was suddenly replaced by the red that had been constantly extinguished before. Even if it was the image that Crowlie tried to slow down the image as much as possible, the situation that happened at this moment was still unclear, but James’ eyes had lined up with the location of the incident!

The image froze!

Crowlie’s long blonde hair appeared in the frozen frame. She turned her head and looked at James. The detective’s pupils were filled with white light. Fortunately, the demon soul he saw was dying, so he was able to keep his eyes, and only to pass out afterward.

Crowlie no longer cared about James, turned, and walked in the memory of James, her long hair floating in the air. Even though the place James was looking at was glowing brightly like there was a burning sun in front of him, everything went against the norm, not casting any shadow. It was just the dazzling white light from inside to outside.

Crowlie walked toward the center of the light. She moved her fingers in the air, as if she wanted to touch something in the white light.

However, this was just a futile effort. It was just a flashback of the situation, nothing had a substance.

Crowlie’s fingers slowly slipped, and the frozen frame moved forward again, and the white light had disappeared!

In the front vent at the bottom of the wall, the air flow disrupted the light in a way that was visible to the naked eye, and swept the floating ashes that enveloped the space where Crowlie was.

James’ arms were slowly raised, his facial muscles were contracting and stretching, “b-a-r-t-o-n-”

Crowlie was not interested in James’ twisted lips, she quietly looked at the man who turned slowly in the ashes. The other person’s raised hand was obscured by the ashes, but Crowlie could already guess that it was the ‘murder weapon’ that killed the soul.

Crowlie didn’t move, but the space she was in was spinning. James’ body collapsed on the ground, his vision restricted the space Crowlie could explore.

In the constantly shrinking space, Crowlie’s body was moved like duckweed; the gray walls, the disappearing ashes, and finally the sky in between the buildings.

Crowlie was waiting. As James thought, this was the only exit from the dark alley.

The slowly shrinking space kept compressing the world Crowlie was in. Crowlie frowned. If James didn’t see it, then she would take back the evaluation of James’s firm will.

In this continuously compressed and darkened world composed of the sky and building walls that James saw, a man intruded diagonally.

‘It really looks like a pastor.’

In the thoughts of James that suddenly appeared, Crowlie remembered the profile face that appeared in a strange angle.

End.

When the last spot of light flew towards James, Crowlie waved her hand. She was involved in the section of memory that appeared later, so she didn’t need to watch it again.

James couldn’t endure it anymore, his knees softened, his arms propped on the unclean ground, and he vomited.

“Is it a painful thing to review your life?” Crowlie smiled and stood in front of James, looking at the man’s twitching shoulders, “I should change my evaluation of you. You are not bad. I can see why the vampire values you.”

James’ whole body was twitching. He couldn’t respond to Crowlie’s words. Sadly, he couldn’t find even the right emotion to face the demon in front of him. She rap*d his soul!

Crowlie smiled and patted James on the shoulder, her eyes flashed with an ambiguous look, “Perhaps I should remind you, um, or ask you to remind the vampire.”

James’ cuffs were stained with a disgusting sticky substance. He frowned and raised his face. He wanted to stand up, but the pain of his whole body did not allow him to do so. The only thing he could do was to glare at Crowlie.

Crowlie curled her mouth, ignoring James’ anger, “You have seen hunters, those lousy impostors. Now you have met a truly traditional hunter.”

Crowlie lifted James’ chin, and didn’t seem to dislike the stench in James’ mouth, “What would you choose? Remind the vampire? Or like ‘Revenge’?”

In James’ suddenly confused eyes, Crowlie smiled, “Choose carefully, James Rance, if the vampire is not competent to teach you, I can.”

James, who was rap*d by Crowlie, couldn’t keep any secrets from her, so of course, James’s undeciding position was also not a secret for her.
