Chapter 39
C39 – No Need to Worry
Upon hearing he could receive 80% of the profits, Miao Hujin quickly gestured a refusal.
He had indeed come to serve as an Alchemist, but he was also a disciple of Yun Haoyan. In his heart, he saw himself first and foremost as a disciple.
Shouldn’t a disciple naturally refine some pills for the family at the request of their master?
“Let’s do this: I’ll take 30% of the profits, and you all can have 70%. Does that work for you?” Miao Hujin proposed, adamant about not accepting an 80% share.
Besides, he genuinely didn’t value the profits from these pills.
As a Pill King capable of crafting sixth-grade pills, the profits from a mere third-grade pill were beneath his concern.
Yun Hai, hearing Miao Hujin’s proposed split, immediately objected.
“No, no, that won’t do.
You’re an esteemed Alchemist, offering to craft pills for us out of respect. How could we let you take only 30%?
“Exactly! Elder Miao, please take the 80%. The alchemist from the Bian family gets that much, and you still need to cultivate.
If you give away all the profits, what resources will you have for alchemy?”
The elder with white hair stepped forward, adding his counsel.
Alchemists might earn substantial amounts of Spirit Stones, but their expenses were equally significant.
They required vast quantities of Spiritual Plants to attempt crafting new pills, which was the only way to potentially succeed in creating something new.
Even Elder Miao, who had successfully produced a Spirit Gathering Pill, had squandered countless Spiritual Plants while learning the process.
Many struggle to become Alchemists, limited not only by talent but even more so by a lack of resources.
Given enough Spiritual Plants, even a pig could be trained as an Alchemist.
Elder Miao realized that if he continued to insist on only a 30% share, they would likely never agree.
After some thought, he offered a compromise:
“How about we split it evenly? You take 50%, and I’ll take 50%.
This is the lowest I’ll go. If you don’t agree, I’m going to get upset!”
Yun Hai offered a resigned smile, raising his hand in a gesture of acquiescence:
“Well, Elder Miao, it seems we’re in your debt.”
He had noticed that Yun Haoyan’s master seemed unconcerned with the division of profits.
“Haha, we’re all one big family here; no need for such formalities among us,” Elder Miao declared with a hearty laugh.
Laughter filled the study at his words.
“Alright, that settles it. Servants, prepare a fine room for Elder Miao, along with an alchemy lab.
And set up a training room for him as well. Ensure everything is top-notch.”
Yun Hai gave the instructions.
“It’s decided then. I’ll retire to my room for some cultivation,” Elder Miao announced, bidding the other elders farewell before departing with the Yun family’s servants.
Yun Haoyan and Yun Tiantian also took their leave, following him out.
“Do you all believe Elder Miao is trustworthy?” Yun Hai inquired, concern lacing his voice once they were gone.
He found it hard to grasp that such an esteemed Pill Master had pledged his services to the Yun family, as if it were all a dream.
Considering that the Bian family had paid a fortune to bring an Alchemist from Ambercoast, and that Alchemist couldn’t even produce a Qi Gathering Pill…
Silkbarrow had no source for Qi Gathering Pills, and neither did the Bian family.
Now, an Alchemist capable of creating such pills had abruptly aligned with the Yun family, and Yun Hai’s apprehension was understandable given the immense profits at stake.
If this Alchemist stayed put, the Yun family could effortlessly rise to become one of Silkbarrow’s four great families in time.
Moreover, they could even carve out a significant presence in Ambercoast.
At that moment, an elder stepped forward, his face etched with earnestness:
“Patriarch, I actually find this Alchemist exceedingly dependable!”
“Oh?” Yun Hai perked up, intrigued by the claim.
“His exceptional skill in alchemy is precisely why I trust him. He’s so talented that there’s nothing in the Yun family that could tempt him.
To be frank, even if we offered him the entirety of the Yun family, I doubt he’d have any interest in it.”
