Chapter 37
C37 – Miao Hujin’s Pill Refining
“It’s truly an eight-line Qi Refining Pill!” came the exclamations from everyone, Yun Hai included.
In all of Silkbarrow City, a seven-line pill was considered exceptional, and here Miao Hujin was, nonchalantly producing an eight-line pill.
Even though it was an eight-line Qi Refining Pill, it was merely a token gift for Miao Hujin, clearly not something he held dear.
One could only imagine Miao Hujin’s immense wealth.
Miao Hujin touched his forehead, relieved. He had anticipated such a scenario and had prepared some Qi Refining Pills in advance. Otherwise, he would have been at a loss for what gift to present.
After all, this was Yun Haoyan’s own sister, the sister of his revered master. How could he not offer her a gift?
“You’re on the cusp of becoming a Martial Warrior. This bottle of pills will suit you perfectly,” Miao Hujin said with a smile.
“What? Just an eight-line pill, only ten of them, and not even sweetened…” Yun Tiantian murmured under her breath.
Her brother’s pills were in a different league altogether.
Yun Tiantian’s voice was so soft that most of those present didn’t catch her words.
Except for Miao Hujin.
As a Martial King Realm expert, only his Dantian was impaired; his other senses were intact. So, of course, he overheard Yun Tiantian’s grumblings.
His face flushed with embarrassment, Miao Hujin was well aware of the gap between his and Yun Haoyan’s abilities. Clearly, she had witnessed her brother’s pill-making prowess.
Was she really comparing him to Yun Haoyan?
“Alright, I’m going to start refining pills now. Please, make some room. Okay, let’s begin.”
With a wave of his hand, Miao Hujin summoned an impressive-looking cauldron into the study.
Another wave brought forth an array of Spiritual Plants before him.
He sat down cross-legged, his demeanor shifting instantly.
Gone was the affable appearance; he now embodied the majestic presence of a distinguished grandmaster.
Miao Hujin closed his eyes briefly, then snapped them open, placing his palm on the cauldron. Instantly, flames roared to life within.
The elders and Yun Hai watched with rapt attention, their eyes wide. None had ever witnessed the art of pill refinement firsthand.
The flames intensified, and Miao Hujin spoke up,
“This process is known as tempering the cauldron. I can only manipulate the pill’s transformation effectively when the cauldron’s temperature is uniform throughout.”
Once the cauldron’s temperature stabilized at the desired level, Miao Hujin methodically began adding the Spiritual Plants.
“This step is crucial for purging impurities from the Spiritual Plants, making them more refined.”
“Every Spiritual Plant contains impurities, which are the toxins within the pill.”
It’s impossible to remove all impurities, but the fewer there are, the more Spiritual Lines the pill will possess. The Perfect Nine Lines Pill has minimal impurities, almost negligible.
That’s why Perfect pills are so valuable. The fewer the impurities, the more complete the integration of the Spiritual Plants, enhancing the pill’s potency.”
With each word from Miao Hujin, he carefully placed each Spiritual Plant into the cauldron.
Yun Hai watched the Spiritual Plants whirl within the cauldron and sighed, aware of his own lack of aptitude for pill refining.
His previous attempts at this most basic step had always failed, preventing him from even forming the most ordinary pills.
Pill refining may seem straightforward, but it’s a complex art.
“Now we’ve reached the pivotal moment. Success or failure hinges on this next step.
The timing of the pill’s condensation must be precise. Condense too early, and the pill won’t have fully merged, resulting in a useless product.
Condense too late, and the pill fire will overcook the medicinal liquid into residue, leading to a pill with diminished efficacy due to the excess impurities.”
As Miao Hujin’s instructions came to an end, the liquid within the cauldron began to coalesce into individual pills.
