Chapter 3 - Defective Deity
'This punk! So irrational! Dammit, better leave for now and come back later. It's better to hit some training dummies to increase my combat experience,' Yman thought while trying to get rid of some algae that was sticking on his body.
When the group of Kiko noticed him,
"I thought it's a frog. Who would have thought that it's Yman? Haha!" Kiko said while sarcastically laughing so hard.
"Hehe, Kiko bro, I think Yman thought this pond was a river. Haha!``said one of Kiko's friends. This guy named Marco..
"At least he knew how to wash his body. Haha!" Another of Kiko's friends indicated. The guy named Bruno.
"But now, he even looks dirtier than before. Hehe!" Marco said while covering his nose and mouth with his hand.
Hahaha! The six youth were batshit laughing.
"Hah! What would you expect of an orphan? He can't even buy food to eat." Kiko said while gesturing can't be helped.
"Kiko, he wanted to get away." One of their friends pointed.
"Let him be. He smelled like shit I don't want him near me." Kiko said in disgust.
Yman's brows twitched when he heard their ridiculing conversations.
"Tsk, idiots." He clicked his tongue in annoyance. Their ridiculing convo had no effect on him. But, he was annoyed that they stole the kill. And worse than that, they intentionally hit him with the fireball.
'Hump, I make you pay double the next time!' He whispered and started his steps toward the gate of the town.
Yman felt down, he's walking along the road, while shoulders drop.
'Hah, what a waste of effort. If only I've gotten an attack skill, it will be faster to kill mobs. Such bad luck, my dream to become the greatest `Seeker', was shattered before it started. What could a self-healing skill do? It can't even be used to heal others.' He thought dejectedly.
After some minutes of walking, he finally saw the towering wall ahead. Because of the monsters that were lurking outside, the mayor of every town and city decided to constrict the area with high walls.
These walls would defend the citizens from monster attacks. It was made of concrete, basically hard and not easy to breach. Finally, he arrived at the gate. Some guards did some inspection to the passerby who wanted to enter.
When they noticed him, they showed contemp on their faces.
Some girls of his age passed by at him while twitching their noses and mumbled the word, "Gross!" That reached his ears.
Yman frowned and scratched the back of his head. He wanted to retort but he thought that it was troublesome.
After he went inside, he canceled his resonance with his System Deity, Sistela. Now Sistela was back on being a ball-shape object again.
"Sistela, time check," Yman asked his partner.
<11:10 AM Master,> Sistela answered. Sistela has a realistic feminine voice. She could speak like a real person.
"Hmm, just right, " he said while nodding.
<Oh-Uhm, Master?>
"Yes? What is it?"
<You stink, humph,>
"Eh? How can you tell?" He suddenly paused while wide-eyed staring at his partner.
<Did you forget? I am a super-intelligent high-end system, capable of five senses.>
"But you are a round ball!"
<Shape doesn't matter!>
"Ehhhh! Is that a joke?"
<Yourself is a joke!>
"What?"
<You stink!>
"Argh! Don't say it twice, I know it already!"
<I say what I wanted to say!>
"Whaaaat?! You hurt my feelings, you know!"
'Hah, can't be helped, huh,' he thought in defeat. Now, even his deity was showing contempt at him.
16 inches width and 12 inches in length transparent thin screen appeared in front of his face. He then checked the wallet section in his interface. In his wallet section displays his current balance. As of the moment, he has 100 gold points.
He went directly to the market and bought 1-kilo rice and vegetables. No need to buy meat and fish, both were expensive. 1-kilo rice cost him 1 gold point, 1 gold point is equal to 1 dollar.
Tsk! He clicked his tongue when he saw how little balance he had.
'I can't even afford to buy an Attribute point.'
<Master,> suddenly, his partner called him again.
"....."
He ignored it.
<You're very poor,>
"Ugh, You're mean!"
<Don't worry Master, you know some people dream of money, while other people work hard. But there is a better and most easy way to earn it.>
She said knowingly.
Yman felt excited to what he heard from his deity and his eyes lit up, "Oh, really, then what's the easy way?" he asked curiously.
<Steal!>
"I'm more worried about your intelligence!" He shouted briefly disregarding his surroundings.'
'Is this deity mocking me? Or urging me to become a criminal? Maybe I've got a defective one. In this era, there was only one currency, and that was gold points.'
While walking along the street,
Yman saw some pretty young girls wearing an expensive-looking outfit. Their bodies showed a faint glow. And they were heading towards the gate of the town.
It was advisable that whenever you left the town, you must be in resonance with your system deity. Because who knows what might happen outside, it's better to be ready than sorry.
Yman noticed the disgusted expressions that showed on some people's faces when he passed by.
Hah! He let out a sigh.
'I need to go home so that I can wash my body that smells so bad! I wonder what's Yana doing at the moment? If only I have a decent income so that I can take her to a good hospital, or hire a high-level healer to cure her illness.' He mumbled.
...
Inside a room of an academy, an aged man was sitting in front of the square-shaped table. He busied himself writing something.
On the table, a pile of papers amassed. At the back of the aged man, was a glass window. Outside the window was a garden.
A moment later, the door of the room made a creaking noise. The aged man glanced. A middle-aged woman walked in.
After she greeted the aged man, she proceeded,
"Principal Mar, they had finished testing the large scale array this afternoon," said the middle-aged woman.
The aged man paused for a moment then said,
"Mhm, thank you, Mrs. Aurelia, " he replied.
"No problem. Sir, what do you think of this year's batch of trainees?" The middle-aged woman asked curiously.
"Hmmm... I saw some promising youth, " Principal Mar said casually while checking the papers on the table.
Mrs. Aurelia's brows were slightly wrinkled when she heard the casual tone of the principal.
"But sir, if the Academy still can't produce a good result..." her words have been cut by Principal Mar.
"I know, don't worry, we have recruited two talented trainees." He said. "Tell them to get ready for tomorrow's Inaugural, " he continued.
"Yes, Principal Mar." She bowed slightly, then left the room.
