Chapter 8: Subdawn Caves
Chapter 8: Subdawn Caves
Heinald again purchased material worth 300 Arkana Stones to make Low-level Healing Potions before leaving Rinemoth's Claw. When he looked at the amount of profit he made, he thought that his grandfather was really doing a lot of loss.
"Looks like Luian is a little too greedy." Heinald muttered.
After leaving Rinemoth's Claw, he went to the market area of the city to buy a good horse. The market area was the most populous and lively place in the city, with many shops and stalls around.
Heinald came in front of a barn on the corner of the market district, and a fat man greeted him.
"I'm looking for a good horse."
"Sure! What's your budget?" The fat man's eyes shone.
"I want to see the horses first." Heinald pointed to the stable.
"Then follow me!" The fat man started walking quickly towards to the stable.
"This is the best horse I have. Its name is Shadow, a very strong animal. Even if he runs for hours without stopping, he does not get tire. Moreover, if you blow his special horn, he can hear your call within 100 miles."
As soon as the fat man entered the stable, he pointed to the horse that was first seen. The horse was black and very muscular.
Heinald actually liked this horse.
"How much do you want for this horse?" Heinald asked.
"5 Arkana Stones!" Fatty scratched his beard and said.
"Deal!" Heinald thought and agreed for a while. It was quite a lot for a horse, but he liked this horse very much.
"Congratulations! You got a very good horse. Wait, I'll bring you Shadow's special horn." The Fat man started walking towards the back in a pleasant way.
After Heinald made the paid, he mounted the Shadow and set out for the mansion. He had been thinking about buying a horse for a long time, and now his travels would be much shorter and faster. When he returned to the mansion, he started making Low-Level Healing Potions again.
Heinald produced 10 Low-Level Healing Potions in 15 days. He could normally produce 20 potions like last time, but this time it was also conducting an intense research process. He found more than a hundred books in the library that provided information about body strengthening, and by combining important information from these books, he created a body strengthening path that suits him best. However, this path focused on strengthening body endurance rather than strengthening muscles.
At his first visits of library he was afraid that he would find almost no sources, luckily, this did not happen.
"I think I should visit Rinemoth's Claw again." Heinald muttured.
He went to the garden behind the mansion, mounted his horse and set out for the shop. Thanks to Shadow, his travels were now much faster. He had paid this horse quite much, but did not feel the slightest remorse. It was a very fast and tough horse.
"I have potions to sell." When Heinald entered the store, he saw Hamber sitting.
"Low-Level Healing Potions? When Hamber saw Heinald, he stand up.
"Yes." Heinald nodded.
"Hm? Why are they few this time?" Hamber's brows frowned slightly.
"I also had other things to do." Heinald shrugged.
Heinald earned a total of 330 Arkana Stones from the 10 Low-Level Healing Potions he sold. After throwing Arkana Stones he gained into his pocket, he headed for the exit of the shop, but stopped at the last minute because of something he remembered.
"Do you sell Messoy Mushrooms?" Heinald asked.
"Messoy Mushroom? What's that?" Hamber began to stare at Heinald blankly.
"I need it for an experiment I want to do." Heinald wanted to use these mushrooms for a formula he had created himself.
The formula he created was not a potion formula, but it could be said to be similar. He created a formula that hardened bones by combining the information he got from various books about the body that he had read in the library. There was no doubt that a strong body would require strong bones.
"Sorry, there is no Messoy Mushroom here. I've never even heard of it before." Hamber shook his head.
After Heinald left the shop, he set out for the inn named Lich Hand, where he was invited to join an interest group called Starfall.
According to what he wrote on the paper given to him,he could get detailed information about the group by visiting the Lich Hand Inn. In fact, risking himself for the little resource was not quite in his mind. He wanted to visit by just out of curiosity, and he was bored at not leaving the mansion recently and wanted to have some free time.
When he came in front of the Lich Hand, he dismounted and entered. Inside of the Inn was more crowded than he expected.
"Welcome, friend. I seem to remember you from somewhere." A blond-haired young man greeted Heinald.
"Possible! Actually it was you who invited me." Heinald smiled slightly.
"Ah! It must be so. I apologize,I deal with many people every day. Let me introduce myself again. My name is Henra."
"Heinald,nice to meet you."
"Are you thinking of joining us now that you've come here?" Henra asked.
"Right now I'm just here to gather information. I have a few questions on my mind." Heinald made a hesitant expression.
"You can ask whatever you want! Come, let's sit at the empty table over there. Let me order you Rejection Romu, I'm sure you'll love it." Henra pointed to the empty table.
"What responsibilities will I have if I join your interest group?" Heinald asked.
"You will not have any responsibility. After all, we are not a clan. We are Apprentice Ainsars who have come together just for our intrests." Henra shrugged.
"So,what kind of plans do you have?" Heinald asked.
"In a month we will go to the Subdawn Caves on the north side of the city. The venom of the spiders living in the caves can be sold at very high prices." Henra's eyes sparkled.
"Caves? Could it be?" The thought made Heinald frown his brows.Messoy Mushrooms he was looking for were found in caves that went deep.
Could the mushrooms he was looking for grew in Subdawn Cave?
"Are the Subdawn Caves long?" Heinald asked.
"It's very long. As far as I have heard,it's over a hundred miles long. But nobody dares to go deep." Henra shook his head.
"Why is that?" Heinald frowned.
"It is said that there are mysterious and dangerous creatures in the depths of the cave. I don't believe it, though. If it were, they wouldn't let anyone enter the cave." Henra took a sip of the drink in front of him.
"That's right. If it was a dangerous creature, no one would have gotten close. So what are non-dangerous creatures?" Heinald exhaled loudly.
"As I said, our interlocutors will be spiders. Spiders do not live deep in the cave, so it's easy to reach them." Henra smiled slightly.
"You said they're poisonous, which makes them dangerous. Is it worth?" Heinald raised his brows.
Their poison is not deadly as long as they are dealt with immediately. Moreover, we will be crowded." Henra was clearly trying to persuade Heinald, but he could not be said to be very successful.
Heinald could make a good profit by brewing potions, so he didn't want to put himself in danger. However, he was supposed to obtain the Messoy Mushrooms. He would wander around the various shops in the city in search of Messoy Mushrooms. If he failed to find the mushrooms then he would think about it again.
"Within a month, I will make my final decision and let you know."
Heinald left after saying goodbye to Henra. He got on his horse and headed towards the Rinemoth Mansion. As he was moving slowly through the city's streets, his eye reached a paper hanging on the wall. He approached the paper and began to read.
"Old Sword Edgar and Arna the Ox will fight each other to the death. Don't miss the struggle of these two slaves."
Heinald was astonished when he read the paper, not knowing that the Ainsars loved to watch slave duels. He went to the location written on the paper just out of curiosity. The fight would take place at a place called Gonzo's Rod. When Heinald came to the front of the place,he saw that it was very crowded.
"Are they really that interested?" Heinald muttured. He did not expect to see such a large crowd. He could only see Apprentice Ainsars around.
He had bought a ticket after paying for one Arkana Crystal.
Normally Ganza's Rod was an inn. While drinks were sold on the upper floor, there was a small-scale arena on the lower floor and a cage in the middle. It was very crowded inside, there was almost no room to step in. Many people around were talking about their bets. Heinald sat down in one of the last empty places he found in the back.
After a short time,a fat man came to the front of the cage.
"Dear guests, welcome to the struggle of the night. Today the Old Sword and the Ox will fight and only one will leave the cage alive. Let's start without waiting too long!"
The fat man started talking loudly. When he finished his speech, the people around started to cheer.
"First, Old Sword Edgar!" The fat man pointed to the right side of the cage. From where he was pointing, an old man with a thin and long beard began to walk. There was a cut on the side of the man's right eye.
Clapping sounds rose again from the surroundings.
Now comes the king of the oxen. Here is Arna the Ox." The fat man pointed to the left side of the cage. From the left, a man with an incredibly broad shoulders and an ugly face, much more than two meters tall, began to come, carrying a huge ax in his hand.
"It really looks like an ox..." Heinald's eyebrows twitched.
The skinny man was holding a thin sword like himself. Although he was old, his movements were quick and his stance was firm. Heinald saw something interesting when he looked into the old man's eyes.
"Oh?" Heinald's eyebrows rose, the old man's eyes calm as water, no sign of fear or excitement.
