Chapter 69: Killing Intent
Chapter 69: Killing Intent
Heinald gathered strength in his legs and dashed forward. At the same time, his sword appeared in his hand while he was in the air. Baunt tried to dodge when Heinald swung his sword, but only partially succeeded, as Heinald's sword cut through his entire chest.
"The potion is starting to take effect." Heinald burst into laughter. Baunt's reaction was relatively slow because the potion was making him sleepy. Because of this, his reflexes were gradually slowing down.
Baunt wanted to secure the position by leaping backwards, but Heinald wouldn't let that happen and rushed towards him again, slicing at him from all directions. Baunt raised his hand to hastily cast a spell, but Heinald quickly stepped to the side and swung his sword downwards.
"Aaaaahhhh!" Baunt let out a scream of pain as the wrist he was pointing at Heinald had been completely cut off and it had fallen to the ground like garbage.
As Baunt grabbed his wrist in pain, Heinald swung his sword horizontally and slashed his throat.
Baunt's eyes widened and blood started pouring out of his mouth. First he fell to his knees, then he fell completely and died after a few seconds of writhing. The blood draining from his wrist and throat had soon turned the floor into a pool of blood.
"I have to be careful." Even as Heinald fought Baunt, he could still feel the effects of Kroll and Elyana's fierce battle. The entire underground building trembled, and terrifying waves of energy emanating from their spells could be felt from the ground up.
Heinald concealed his energy and hurried towards the place where Kroll and Elyana were fighting. He didn't neglect to use Shadow Powder as well to make himself very safe. If neither of those two were seriously injured, he would immediately leave the underground building and flee, never to return here again.
However, if they were both badly injured and had greatly depleted their Magical Energies, he would kill them and try to capture the chest. Still, even if he managed to kill the two of them, he would not be completely relieved, after all, there could be previous requests for help on both sides and people who were about to come here.
Heinald ran quickly and came to the front of the descending stairs. After hiding in the shadows, he began to slowly descend. He could no longer feel any of the energy waves caused by the spells, nor could he hear any sound. All this made him think that the war between the two Ainsars was over.
When he got downstairs, he saw that the surrounding floor and walls had been completely burned and shattered. In one corner of the room Kroll was lying on the floor, in the other was Elyana. They were both badly injured and the energy waves emanating from them were very weak. It was easily understood that there was a fierce battle between them.
As they both stood up awkwardly and grabbed their weapons, they charged at each other again and swung their swords at each other, but then they spotted Heinald who had sprung up from the shadows.
"Help me to kill him!" Kroll and Elyana said at the same time.
Heinald just stood there for a few seconds, looked at the two of them, and began to laugh.
"So you were the traitor! How did you break the Blood Agreement!" Kroll clenched his teeth so hard he almost broke them.
"Well, I have secrets too." Heinald looked at Kroll and winked.
"What are you waiting for? Help me to kill him!" Elyana glared angrily at Heinald.
Heinald didn't say anything, and Eitruis Potion appeared in his hand and threw it at them. Normally, this potion would have almost no effect on a Level 2 Ainsar, but would have an effect on those who were badly injured and had nearly lost all their energy. They were both so exhausted that they couldn't even react to the potion bottle Heinald had thrown. Actually, he had used this potion purely as a precaution, after all, he had two Level 2 Ainsars before him, even though they were completely exhausted.
They both started coughing because of the gas cloud that had appeared.
"What is this!" Elyana cried out.
"Oh, it's... a potion that will heal you." Heinald replied with a grin.
"Why are you still lingering? Come quickly and help me kill him..." As Elyana continued to speak, she was interrupted and began to falter. Her whole body was beginning to tremble, and so was Kroll.
"I'm sorry, but you're both going to die here today." said Heinald.
"Y-You...we made a Blood Agreement, remember?" Elyana barely mumbled something.
"I know the Blood Agreement was fake... Actually i learned it from your deceased grandson, but of course he didn't know about it." Heinald grinned.
"Baunt..." Elyana's eyes widened, then anger started to flow from her eyes.
"You...you'll pay for your this..." Although Elyana was angry, her voice came out as a murmur.
"Let's end this drama!" Heinald shouted and raised his right hand.
Fierce lightning bolts gathered over his hand, and they took the shape of a spear. Lightning Spear flew towards the lying Kroll and Elyana, and when it struck them, there was a violent lightning blast. Lying on the ground, the two depleted Ainsars, without the slightest resistance, were struck on the side of his spell and smashed to death.
"Well..." Heinald stood there for a second or two. He was relieved and a fear began to rise in him. Didn't want to stay in this place any longer.
His eyes fell on the large black chest ahead. There was a transparent barrier surrounding it, but it was obvious at first glance that there were many cracks on the barrier. According to Erald, the barrier had been damaged over time, but was not that much.
"Could it have been damaged by fight of two Level 2 Ainsar?" Heinald muttered inwardly. He approached the chest and began to examine it closely. On the barrier were millions of small runes that could not be seen from afar but could only see up close. If even he could only see these runes when he looked closely, the others might not have seen them at all.
It was not surprising that so many protective runes were used to make such a solid barrier. After all, these runes seemed like they couldn't take much damage anymore. Dark Energy emitted from the chest was indeed very dense, almost as dense as would be materialize.
Heinald took his eyes off the chest, staring at the lifeless bodies of Kroll and Elyana. Two good-looking swords standing next to them caught his attention. He first grabbed the saber that stood next to Kroll and began to examine it. There were several seals carved on the saber. These seals were not obvious unless you looked closely, the craftsmanship on this sword was really good. It could be easily recognized that this sword was an attack-type Magical Treasure.
When Heinald sent his Magical Energy to the sword, the surface of the sword was covered with powerful flames. Heinald slashed the side wall with it. A large cut appeared on the wall, and the cut area continued to burn for several seconds.
"Not bad at all!" Heinald nodded. Taking it in his hand, he began to examine it, just as he had done with Kroll's sword. Likewise, this sword was also a Magical Treasure and its craftsmanship was quite good.
When Heinald sent his Magical Energy to the sword, he saw that the sword was surrounded by the wind. As he swung the sword, an air stripe appeared and rushed forward, hitting the wall in front of him, giving it the effect of a powerful hammer blow.
"Nice!" Heinald smiled, actually what he wanted was a defensive type treasure, but these offensive type treasures were also pretty good. He decided to take them with him, these two swords would undoubtedly increase his fighting strength a lot. Both of these swords were B-class Attack-Type Treasures. He thought he should give these two swords a name. After thinking for a few moments, he named Kroll's sword as Embers and Elyana's sword as Narox.
After Heinald sent the swords into the dimensional pocket of his robe, he walked over to the chest and examined the barrier surrounding it for a moment longer. This barrier was actually a formation and it was clear that it was created by a good master. He couldn't find a counter-seal that could destroy this barrier, so he would try to break it by applying force. If he didn't succeed, he wouldn't linger too long and would just leave.
"Let's see if Death Ray can damage this barrier..." Horribly hot fire ray burst from Heinald's hands and crashed directly into the barrier. The scorching flames that bounced back from the barrier began to heat the surrounding area just like hell. After spending a lot of Magic Energy, he stopped, unfortunately Death Ray wasn't enough to destroy the barrier.
At least he knew if he could do enough damage to the barrier, he could break through. Therefore, he would focus all of his focus on destroying the barrier surrounding the chest, using spells he knew well. He wasn't sure how long it would take, but he thought that if he did his best, he would get a good result.
