The Moon Thief

Chapter 164: Killer Back

Chapter 164: Killer Back

Heinald quickly began swimming in the sea of lava and went to a area away from the pile of earth and rock falling from above.

With each passing second, the cracks in the barrier protecting him were getting bigger.

"It can't go on like this!" Heinald grit his teeth and cast his spell, Indignation of Ice. Some of the lava around it solidified due to the intense cold, forming a small ground.

Heinald immediately climbed to that ground and stepped out of the sea of lava.

"Blood Nighmare Shield only has 1% energy left!" Heinald checked its condition in his mind.

But for him, the danger was still not over. Even though he had come out of the sea of lava, he was very close to the lava, and the energy of his Protective Type Magical Treasure was still taking damage, though not as much as inside the lava.

Whisper of the Wind!

Heinald's body was wrapped by the winds and he jumped, gathering all his physical strength on his feet. As he began to glide above the sea of lava, intense heat waves from the lava further reduced the about to depleted durability of his Protective Type Magical Treasure.

"Hold on a little!" Heinald grit his teeth, and ahead of him was a large piece of land. That was where the sea of lava ended.

*Crack!* The Blood Nightmare Shield's energy was completely depleted and the pale red barrier protecting him was completely shattered.

Fortunately, just then, he had finished gliding over the sea of lava and set his feet on the ground.

"So hot!" Heinald immediately began to run away, near the sea of lava.

After running a safe distance, he threw himself to the ground and began to take deep breaths.

This time he was really close to death!

"In less than a minute, the fully charged energy of my Protective Type Magical Treasure was completely depleted!" Heinald's expression darkened.

After some rest, he took out the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile blood from the dimensional pocket of his robes and began to recharge the energy of the Blood Nightmare Shield.

That's when he realized something. The Fire Element Energy that the phoenix in his ring had had greatly increased. He immediately understood the reason for this; when he plunged into the bottom of the sea of lava, he had entered a very dense Fire Element Energy field. The density of this energy field was even greater than the organs of the various Magical Beasts he had killed before.

"However, nothing is still going on Even though I don't know what the mystery behind this Phoenix spirit is, it would be pointless for it to gather all this energy for nothing. Something will definitely happen in the end." Heinald was lost in thought as he examined the ring.

After a while he shook his head and walked away from these thoughts. For now, he could save those thoughts for later. He had to find a way out of this place first.

As Heinald began to survey his surroundings, he saw nothing but huge rocks and dirt.

The rocks and tons of earth that fell with him into the middle parts of the lava sea had managed to cover it completely, but of course, there was no way he could get there. Even if he managed to get there, there was no way he would get back to the upper terrain.

On the left diagonal was a long narrow passage. It looked more like a large crack caused by an earthquake.

When Heinald illuminated this crack, he saw that the crack stretched quite far. When he looked around carefully again, he realized that there was no other direction to go, and he entered through the narrow passage and started to move forward. This passage was so narrow that the only way for him to move forward was to walk as side.

After walking through the narrow crack-like narrow passage for about an hour, he finally came out into a wide area. When he illuminated the surroundings, he could see nothing but dirt and rock around him. But on his right was a place that looked like a cave entrance.

When he headed there, he began to take careful steps. He didn't want to face a ground collapse again. A curved road, not very narrow, appeared in front of him, and after walking carefully for a while, he came to the fork of a gigantic cliff.

About fifty meters ahead of him was another piece of land and the mouth of the cave. However, in the middle of it was a completely abyss. If he fell, he would not be able to go up again.

So he chose to follow a guaranteed method and cast his spell called Whisper of the Wind. He jumped forward as his body was wrapped by light winds and reached the opposite side after gliding over the deep void of the cliff.

He entered what resembled the cave entrance on the side he had reached, and again encountered a curved road that was not narrow. After walking for several minutes, he reached a circular area.

At first glance, he understood that this was not a natural place. The surrounding stones and soil were specifically crumpled and excavated to create a rounded area.

"The Ancient Ainsars of this plane were not idle, eh?" Heinald muttered as he saw the large black gate about twenty meters in front of him.

This gate had skull carvings on it and symbols he had never seen before. However, he was able to easily read an inscription on the top of the gate.

"Dark Roads of Evryss"

Heinald examined the door carefully for several minutes.

"Did the ancient Ainsars build some sort of underground road?" Heinald muttered, "But why?"

Heinald frowned as he touched the door and noticed the Black Energy in his body activate.

As he started to send some Dark Energy to the door, he noticed a movement in the skull carvings above the door.

As he increased the amount of Dark Energy he was sending out, black smoke started to come out of the skull carvings eyes and mouth, and he slowly turned around.

As the skull carving turned, hundreds of magical locks inside the huge gate began to open. In a short time, the gate opened in both directions.

As the Gate opened, Heinald realized that he was surrounded by a dense Black Energy.

It meant two things, that the power of a Dark Energy that he made in this place would be stronger than in other places. However, if he encountered a creature using Dark Energy like a Shapeshifter, it would put him in a difficult position.

Elemental spells such as fire, lightning, earth, wind, poison could be cast using Elemental Energy; however, only Dark Spells could be cast with Dark Energy.

It was commonly called Dark Magic.

Dark Spells would be stronger than Elemental Spells. Of course, this always depended on the rank of the spell and the might of the person using it, but if two people were compared with the same standards, the person using the Dark Spell would be the winner.

However, the Ainsars were not the only ones to use Dark Magic. Some Magical Beasts and beings would also be able to use Dark Magic. Particular attention had to be paid to them, or death would have been inevitable.

When Heinald stepped through the gate, the light orb, a simple magical object he used to illuminate the surroundings, could only illuminate a small part.

Although he felt that the road he was walking on was not a narrow one, he did not know exactly how wide it was. His eyes, which could see well in the dark, could not overcome the darkness of this place.

Even though Heinald didn't know this, it was perfectly normal because this road itself was made using Dark Magic. Arriving at this plane thousands of years ago, the Ainsars had built this road to hide some rather sinister remants.

On both sides of this road, he was going into an endless darkness. No one looking there could see anything but deep darkness.

Heinald started walking quickly down the road. Anxiety of being trapped underground tried to rise in his heart, but he was able to suppress it. He had learned to do this from the rigorous training he received from his grandfather as a child.

"If you let anxiety take over you, you will never reach the solution!" His grandfather had told him this word once, and he had warned him to never forget it.

Heinald walked for hours without stopping. He could see nothing but darkness around him. All he could see was the stone path in the small area illuminated by the light orb.

He kept walking, hoping that this road would lead somewhere. What comforted him was knowing that this place had been built by the Ainsars. Even though he had no clue as to why it was built, he knew that this road would lead somewhere.
