Chapter 30: pledge
Chapter 30: pledge
Lawrence made eye contact with Camron as if he was trying to intimidate his own son with his gaze. Camron maintained eye contact without wavering.
"Cam, you know the situation I'm in now, right?" Lawrence said as he walked towards the window by the left-hand side of the room.
"I don't understand what you mean by that father?"
Lawrence looked behind him and glanced at Camron for a few seconds.
"I am trying to increase my fortune. I hope to get affiliated with a class-3 ancient bloodline family. Not only getting affiliated, but I also plan on pledging my allegiance to them. One of the strongest in the western continent, the ancient blood of a Kraken. The Krakion family.
If we do get affiliated then my children will at least have a bloodline that flows within them and they can stand taller than others. Only those with stronger bloodlines will be able to look down on you people. And also, if my pledge gets accepted we would finally be able to expand the business to the central continent."
'The Krakion family, that's a water-based elemental bloodline.' Camron thought.
"Father, I am happy that you are always thinking about us your children." He paused, wondering if he should say what he had in his mind.
'I don't want father to think that I am belittling his work or decisions.'
"But? Go ahead Camron, what kind of father would I be if I didn't listen to what my kids have to say?" Lawrence asked.
"But what I have in mind is something above that. I don't want to settle for an ancient bloodline. I want more than that. It should at least be a class-2 legendary bloodline, that way only a class-1 bloodline will be above me. But I aim to pledge allegiance to one of the royal families from the central region." Camron completed.
"Haha haha. The same thing your elder sister Arabella said. The two of you do come from the same mother." Lawrence said with a big smile on his face.
"As for Benjamin, he is content with my plan. And as you already know, where Benjamin goes, Oliver follows."
"What about Sara?" Camron asked.
"She doesn't know what she wants. I will let her be for now."
Camron bobbed his head in understanding.
"Father, what conditions did the Krakion family give you?"
Lawrence turned to face Camron.
"That my son is for me to worry about and for you to not think of."
"Oh, okay."
The worry and disappointment could be heard in Camron's voice.
Lawrence strolled and stopped in front of Camron. He raised his right hand and placed it on Camron's head. He then ruffled his hair a bit.
"Don't worry about it Camron, if I couldn't handle it then I wouldn't even attempt it."
Camron cares and loves his father very much. He flashed a bright smile at his father and said;
"Alright, father. I believe you."
Lawrence gave toothy smile and bobbed his head in reply.
"What plans does your friend have now?"
"Well, Alex plans on joining the Severance academy too. In a week, we would be going for the academy's screening examinations together."
"A nonpareil and an Etruscan runes master at his age. Being a nonpareil alone is enough for anyone to overlook his cultivation realm, but a runes master of that level too. And also a class-3 bloodline. This friend of yours is a one of a kind genius.
If he is an orphan then I wouldn't mind getting Sara engaged with him. It will be a blessing for us to have someone like that as a family. But his background, Camron do you know why I doubt him?"
"Yes, father. The first reason is because of the high-density green ECs he nonchalantly threw at Oliver. The second is the fact that he has a higher class bloodline and great talents." Camron responded.
"Exactly. Why would someone like that follow you here? What if it was our enemies that sent him here?" Lawrence voiced out his concern.
"Actually father he was stranded when we first met. I was the one that suggested that he came home with me. I believe that Alex is not someone from the western continent. I believe that he should be from the central continent."
"Really?"
"Yes, father."
Lawrence let out a heavy sigh.
"Okay, that's enough for tonight. You can head back to your room."
"Alright. Good night father, rest early." Camron bowed respectfully then made his way out of the study.
"Reginald," Lawrence called out.
"Yes, my lord."
"Still keep an eye on the kid. We can't let our guard down based on some speculations."
"As you wish my lord."
Reginald replied. Lawrence trekked back to his table, he went towards his chair and sat down.
"My lord permit my boldness."
Lawrence raised his gaze and looked at Reginald.
"Go ahead."
"If we are unsure about young master Camron's friend, why don't we just end him or send him away. There is no need for us to keep him here."
"If he was sent here by our enemies then just by sending him away or ending him wouldn't stop them from making other attempts."
Reginald soon understood what his employer was thinking.
"I understand." He gave a bow and disappeared from Lawrence's sight.
************
Alex was in his room, lying on his bed.
['Lex.'] He called out in his mind.
['Yes Alex, is anything wrong.'] Lex responded.
['Can you start teaching me how to use my spatial abilities as soon as tomorrow, in the morning?']
['Sure thing, we can start whenever you want to start.']
['Alright. Goodnight.']
['Goodnight Alex.']
***************
-Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!
Alex woke up to the sound of birds singing. The sunlight illuminated the room from the window.
He laid on the bed, trying to recount everything that had happened these past few days.
-Rat-a-tat.
The light sound of his door being knocked on reached his ears and disrupted his thoughts.
"So early. Who could that be?" He whispered to himself.
"Come in!" Alex announced.
-Creak!
The maid that helped him comb his hair yesterday, stepped in. she gave a bow.
"Good morning Sir A-Ale I mean Sir." The maid greeted.
Alex sat down and looked at her for a few seconds, then said;
"Why are you here this early in the morning?"
"Young master Camron asked me to come and check up on you. He also asked me to ask you, if you would be joining him and his family for breakfast, or if you would like to have it in your room?"
The maid replied.
['I don't think I should join his family for breakfast. Lex, you don't object right?"
['It's your choice Alex. I wouldn't object.'] Lex responded.
"I would prefer to have my breakfast here."
"Okay, is there anything in particular that you would like to eat Sir?"
"No, anything nice will be fine. Can I get a cup of tea? That is if it exists here."
The maid was a bit confused.
'Is the tea he is referring to different from what I know?'
She chuckled and said;
"What type of tea would you like sir?"
"A strawberry tea would do. With milk and sugar too."
"Okay. I would be back in 30 minutes. You might use that time to freshen up." She bowed once more and left the room.
['Yup, she is definitely into us. Hey Alex, I'm sure the Avanti family wouldn't mind if we lost our virginity to her. Especially if she also wants it.'] Al spoke up.
Alex seemed to have started getting used to Al's perverseness.
['Good morning to you too Al.'] Alex replied.
['Huh, are you greeting me?']
Al was surprised that Alex didn't reply with something insulting. Nor did he curse out. His greeting didn't even sound sarcastic in any way.
['Yes, I was talking to you.']
['I-I Goddamn it!!']
Al said and kept quiet. He didn't know how to respond to Alex's sudden politeness.
['Hahaha.'] Lex laughed at Al.
['A bit early to be cursing anything into damnation. You should start your morning off with a subtle poem. For the heart, mind, and soul.'] Xander commented.
['Shut your mouth, Xander.'] Al said.
"Hahaha." Alex laughed out.
"You guys might not be that bad to have, I could get used to entertainment like this," Alex said.
['Me? An entertainment. I swear when I take control, I am going to cut your d*ck off!!'] Al screamed out.
"Hahahaha."
Lex and Xander joined in on the laughter this time.
['His genital is our genital you pervert. We all know that a pervert like you wouldn't be able to carry out a threat like that. You need it to be intact and well.'] Xander Teased.
['Shut up. All of you. This is what I get for talking to a bunch of rabbits.']
"A bunch of rabbits indeed." Alex smiled.
He got up from the bed and strolled to the window. Since he had arrived in this world, he had fallen in love with the uniformed beauty of nature. Even basking under the morning sun seemed to do a lot of good to his mind and mood.
"I'd better go ahead and freshen up now. Lex, we might have a long day ahead of us."
['We are all in this together Alex.'] Lex assured.
Alex proceeded and made his way to the bathroom.
