Chapter 759
Chapter 759
Eclipse and Davey were the only ones standing on the vast, flat island that Gnoass had created. She patted down her immaculate dress that didn’t have even a speck of dust on it. At the same time, the enormous dragon claws protruding from the rift on her arm disappeared, slowly being sucked back in.
“Is that your core?”
"Hehe, yes! Eclipse is eeenormous!”
Watching her smile brightly, Davey wondered if Hercules really had this kind of taste in women. But he figured it didn’t really matter.
"Davey, are you going to have playtime with Eclipse?”
"Yeah, for now."
He held the divine spear Longinus, channeling his divine power as he glared at her. Even though Katshi was a monster as dangerous as Eclipse, several factors had weakened him and led to his demise. Eclipse was different—despite her fight with Katshi, she was perfectly fine.
She looked at Davey in silence for a moment, then clapped her hands together.
"Davey! Have fun with Eclipse!”
"Alright."
Before he could finish speaking, an intangible energy descended on him from above. His divine power spread out to protect his head—without it, he knew it would’ve been a gruesome sight.
“Woah...” she exclaimed, genuinely surprised. "Davey, now you can have fun with Eclipse, right? Then Eclipse...”
She trailed off, smiling brightly. At the same time, her demeanor changed as her pupils split vertically and bright white and purple flames began to flicker around her body. The playful, childlike demeanor had vanished in an instant.
[Bow.]
Thud!
At Eclipse’s unusual voice, a force pressed down on Davey, making one of his knees buckle, but he forced himself to stay upright and withstand the pressure.
[Twist.]
The mighty power seeped into his body. Goddess Freyja’s divine power resisted, but the invading power eventually twisted one of his arms.
‘What the hell is this penetration?’ Davey thought.
He hadn’t wanted to use this spell unless absolutely necessary, but he figured she wasn’t an opponent to hold back against.
[Activate Taboo’s Karma.]
The power of the red void, the Sin of God, surged through his body. Eclipse widened her eyes with surprise as it pushed her power away, then frowned as if she had a headache.
"Davey, that’s...” she muttered, reaching out toward him with her hand. But there was no way her small pale hand could reach him.
"It's annoying... My head hurts...”
Then her aura completely changed.
"Davey... I don’t like you...”
Bang!
The attack happened in an instant. A huge arm appeared from midair and struck Davey.
“Cough!”
He felt like every bone in his body was crushed under the unbelievable force of the blow. Not having a place to pivot, he was thrown back and rolled on the ground several times. The spot where he collided with the giant dragon's foot was scarred as if a bomb had exploded instead.
Shing!
Davey felt a chill, instinctively thrusting out Longinus in an attempt to dissipate the power by attacking a single point. He knew it wouldn’t be surprising if it simply pierced through rather than blocked the attack.
But the giant dragon claw’s didn’t get pushed back; instead, it was trying to trample him. The divine spear, made of helixium steel, the metal of a god, bent like a bow and his body was crushed as if shockwaves were hitting him.
Boom!
Fortunately for Davey, Longinus—being the strongest spear in the world—withstood the attack and successfully repelled the dragon's front paw.
"Grrr...”
She bowed down, spitting out purple flames from the corner of her mouth. Her body, in a crouched position like a runner preparing for a race, was instantly engulfed in the flames.
- Kaaa!!!
And then...
As soon as she moved, a rift appeared in front of her and she instantly transformed into a massive dragon.
Roaaar!!!
A huge explosion stirred the ocean currents, and Davey went shooting deep into the ocean.
‘Wait... It was just for a moment, but it felt like she fully incarnated there,’ Davey thought.
He felt something beyond every bone in his body simply being broken—they felt completely shattered from the single hit. He couldn’t believe he felt like this even after synchronizing his soul and body—he shuddered at the thought of how terrible it would have been if Katshi had been at full strength. He had even created an island in the middle of the ocean to contain the aftermath, yet this still happened.
As he slowly raised his head, he saw the remains of the island crumbling into the sea, kicking up dust.
‘This is ridiculous. How can anyone beat that? She hasn’t even fully incarnated; she’s just a part of her core. Where is she getting such power without her Absolute Gem? No wonder they say to choose the most overpowered characters in games,’ Davey thought.
He figured that the origin of Thanatos within Perserque was related to Eclipse’s authority somehow. So then, if he wanted to make her absorb it...
‘Arbit.’
At his call, waves rose from the red void. After receiving help from Arbit to further develop the power of taboo, Davey could feel the waves of the red void anywhere.
[Yes, my lord?]
‘Is there any way to beat Eclipse?’
The loud roars continued outside the waters, indicating that Eclipse was still rampaging.
[Lord, do you believe there’s another way besides what I always tell you? All you have to do is become a complete ruler of the Red Void. Since the first lord laid the foundation, you can create your own world. Whatever kind of world it is, that’s entirely up to you!]
‘If that happens, I wouldn’t be able to interfere with the outside world.’
[Just give it a try for ten thousand years. You may not be able to incarnate your core, but who knows if you can incarnate parts of yourself.]
‘Bullshit. Who has ten thousand years to spare just like that?’ Davey thought.
Davey realized Arbit wasn’t going to be of any help. He hoped Ellaim was doing her part. In addition to her, there were two Spirit Kings—Gnoass, who created the island, and Sylphid, who controlled the wind and protected the island as much as possible. He considered Ellaim's mission to oversee the water very important.
The authority of the Abyss within Perserque's body, the origin of the power presumed to be Thanatos, couldn't be extracted through ordinary means. More than anything, he needed a way for Perserque and her to make contact.
‘It might be better to buy myself more time here...’
Boom!!
Then Davey saw something that he clearly knew didn’t belong here—the remains of an exploded fighter jet began to sink around him in heaps.
“Those damn trolls!” Davey said, frowning. He glanced at the shark charging toward him in the dark sea, then quickly swung his hand and smacked the great white shark's nose. The shark was startled by the unexpected counterattack, and as soon as it began to struggle, he snatched it and used it as a platform to launch himself up.
Bang!
It was chaotic outside. It seemed like the US fleet had seen him get thrown into the water and was launching an all-out offensive, but Davey could tell how futile their efforts were just by looking at the explosions in the sky.
“Gasp!! Ellaim!! How much longer?”
Then water droplets quickly formed into a small fairy woman.
[Almost done!]
“Get it done in three minutes. Three minutes!”
Davey saw Eclipse going berserk and destroying the fleet. Watching her tear apart a huge fighter jet with her bare hands, he lightly waved his hand.
Whoosh!
Then thousands of swords that were scattered in all directions went flying toward her at once.
“Super Ribbon!”
Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon quickly flew into his hands and merged together, forming a long sword with a blue-red blade.
“Brace yourselves.”
[Yes, father!]
As soon as Super Ribbon answered, Davey took off as if riding the wind and flew straight toward Eclipse who had already dodged and struck down the swords from earlier.
“Eclipse doesn’t like this!!”
She waved her hand in frustration, turning the thousands of swords into dust. She then glared at Davey with her vertically slit pupils.
[Demonic [Spirit] Sword 84th Form]
[Heavenly Blade Misty Bloodfall]
The 84th form of Great Swordsmanship of the Demonic Sword's Pinnacle Skill began to unfold.
She bared her sharp fangs and glared at him with a terrifying gaze, waving her hand. But Davey didn't hesitate; he channeled divine power to surround himself.
Boom!
The barrier Eclipse had set up was torn apart in an instant as he slashed Super Ribbon toward her, barely missing. Normally, he would have been able to pierce through Eclipse using Super Ribbon. He had also used Sylphid to momentarily hinder her movements, but she still dodged his attack at the last moment.
[Ugh!!! Contractor! I'm scared! How am I supposed to fight against such a monster?!]
The Wind Spirit King Sylphid screamed as Eclipse’s power tore apart the winds.
"Ow...”
Eclipse frowned and glared at Davey, clutching the wound on her shoulder.
"Davey... Eclipse doesn’t like that power of yours...”
After drawing out her hidden power, he could tell she was significantly struggling due to his Taboo’s Karma. Davey figured she felt something on an instinctual level. Even though she was insane, she was once Hercules' wife—considering Davey’s Taboo’s Karma was incomplete, there was no way she wouldn’t be aware of it. In fact, he figured she might feel more familiar with it at this level of imperfection as Hercules probably wouldn't have been able to use Taboo’s Karma properly when he was with her.
Then Davey went past her, spun in the air and adjusted his posture. As he looked on from above, she put her hands together as if she was trying to launch an energy blast.
Boom!
Purple and white flames flickered as the massive breath attack flew toward Davey. The world turned white, and an intense heat rushed at him threatening to melt his entire body.
‘Alright, just a little bit more.’ Davey thought.
Davey prioritized draining as much of her strength as possible. He defended himself from the high-temperature breath trying to engulf him with his divine power before focusing his strength on Super Ribbon. When he noticed the breath weakening, he reached his hand out toward her.
[Modified Transcendence Dark Magic]
[Collapse]
Crack!!
The space she was floating in began to distort and collapse. A huge rift seemed to form, momentarily twisting the power that was protecting her.
“Ellaim!! Now!”
[Ah... Ah, here goes nothing!]
Ellaim’s scream-like cry rang out, then a water rift appeared in midair and instantly enveloped Eclipse.
Water exists in all things, and that water eventually forms a river—all rivers then flow to a common body.
Among the Spirit Kings, only two could perform spatial transfer: the Spirit King of Space and the Spirit King of Water. Ellaim’s spatial transfer ability may not match the Spirit King of Space, but it had the useful power to send someone flying without any restrictions as long as there was water.
Splosh!
As soon as Eclipse and Davey were sucked into the huge water mirror in the air, their surroundings changed. Davey grabbed Eclipse and threw her out of the water, then followed her.
They had first fought in the ocean off the coast of Florida in the southern United States. But now, they were in the ocean off the coast of Gyeonggi-do, Korea. He knew this was good enough for now.
"Davey!!”
She reached her hand toward Davey, piercing his abdomen.
‘Even better. Keep you and me connected like this instead.’ Davey thought.
Davey hugged her tightly and channeled all his mana. Because Eclipse possessed tremendous resistance, it was extremely difficult to transport her from the United States to Korea in one go. As both oceans in Korea and the United States were water, Ellaim's ability to naturally alter space using water worked well. But outside these special circumstances, most sophisticated movement magic had a very limited range.
Holding Eclipse in his arms, Davey created a three-dimensional magic circle. They then warped through space once again. His goal was to land in front of Perserque—once he achieved that, everything would be a gamble.
Boom!!
As the space expanded, it began to tear apart. The magic broke under her strength, but it was still enough to move the two.
“Davey?!”
Perserque was shocked to see Davey. As soon as Rinne spotted Eclipse, she widened her eyes and took a fighting stance.
