Chapter 711
Chapter 711
- Kwraaa!!!
- Kyaaah!!!!
Cambridge was classified as a group-one hazardous area. Although it was inhabited by people before, the place had become a monster paradise. Cambridge was even dubbed the source of monsters for having a dense population of monsters and a high number of rifts that spewed more of them. The place, which was still England’s biggest concern, had been reduced to ruins.
Even though Megalodria, the King of Mythical Beasts, was only a grandmaster, its power was still practically a disaster to any creature that was weaker than it. In other words, its power proved to be extremely efficient and synergistic in massacring weaklings.
“Well, I don’t see any more rifts here. Let’s move on to America next. I heard the United States is one of the strongest countries on Earth.”
- Holy moly, look at how he wiped out everything, even the rifts.
- I didn’t know someone could physically destroy this place.
- I know right…
- I’m from England. Everyone’s celebrating right now.
It was no surprise that the people were happy. After all, their greatest threat had disappeared overnight.Just as Davey was about to leave with Megalodria, he heard a buzzing sound. Then the empty space suddenly began to split.
- What the heck?
- ???
- What is that?
A huge rift appeared in the air, and thousands of eyes emerged inside it, radiating eeriness.
[How dare you?!]
Noticing that the rift was letting out a sense of ferocity, Megalodria tried to gather its strength again because of how new rifts showed up againdespite its attack earlier.
Almost as if he was comforting Megalodria, Davey spoke with a soft voice, “Get out of the way, weakling.”
[Damn contractor! Do you want to die?]
Megalodria then sent storm blades toward Davey, as soon as he jumped off its back with a giggle.
Clang!
Davey let out a large amount of mana in an instant and deflected the storm blades.
[Hmph!]
“Someone’s got a bad temper…”
Davey was aware that the rifts were basically passageways for non-physical law-type monsters. He also knew that these rifts wouldn’t just disappear after being destroyed by Megalodria’s breath. Of course, the breath of the King of Mythical Beasts was strong enough to penetrate through most non-physical law types, but it seemed like the Malicious Spirits made some preparations on their end.
Realizing this, he figured that the most efficient way to deal with the rifts was to destroy their roots using Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon. Even though it’d be close to impossible, it didn’t mean that it couldn’t be done.
But there was another thing on Davey’s mind. He thought something strange was going on. He couldn't figure out how these rifts were created or where all the monsters were coming from.
Destruction, which was guiding Eclipse, opposed and clashed against Neltarid's other side, harmony, which had sided with Davey. But he figured that the Ancient Incarnation wasn’t omnipotent as well.
Davey adjusted the angle of the camera so everybody could see the rift. Then he said, “Looking at this, I couldn’t help but think how it’s impossible to create something out of nothing in this world. Except for the Great God, obviously.”
- Is there a Great God? Not just God?
- Oh geez, instant blasphemy right there.
- There’s also the Church of Neltarid. Wait then, is the Neltarid the Great God?
“Neltarid’s a half-assed one,” Davey answered calmly while pulling out a spear from the Pocket Plane.
Just then, a large rift ignited dozens of other rifts to open in the air, and before he knew it, monsters began to jump out of them.
While it was impossible to create something from nothing, the rifts still continued to open, and monsters kept pouring out of them.
Davey spent a moment to deeply think. Right after, he spun the Longginus and then gripped it firmly.
- Weren’t you going to use a sword? Why a spear all of the sudden?
Davey twirled the spear, seemingly having done the movement so many times before. The chat was then bombarded with comments once again as he was getting ready to use the spear.
Davey decided to use a meme reference to answer the messages left in the chat.
“I pity you who don’t know what a great weapon the spear is.” [1]
- Crazy reference right there hahahaha.
- Is he really from another dimension? Hahaha
- He’s quite funny despite being a prince of some country.
Davey didn’t bother to respond to the chat. He just quietly transformed the Longginus.
- But… Aren’t there too many?
- It seems like there are more than before.
Davey smiled and said to the troubled viewers, “Look carefully. There’s only one kind of monster now. See how they’re all Drukais in armor?”
Drukais were monsters that were considered similar to orcs. The appearances between the two weren’t too different, but what set Drukais apart were their red skin and horns. Orcs were once treated poorly in Tionis because they looked similar to Drukais. But they had already become known as a popular mercenary tribe.
- He’s right. Except for their slightly eerie skin, all of them are Drukais.
- Aren’t each of those high-ranked species? As far as I know, you need to deploy large-scale bombing to take them down…
- But wait, doesn’t radio communication usually go down when a rift appears? How are you still streaming?
- This is my first time seeing monsters appear on a large scale.
“Forget about those complicated things. What I’m trying to say is that these guys don’t have much time to lose. Why do you think that is?” Davey said calmly as he lightly drew his scimitar. “It’s because they’re in a hurry.”
Davey could tell that they had instinctively felt there was a good chance he would find out about something here. He could also tell from the way they moved that he could figure out what was actually going on here.
Thud!
Davey swung his scimitar down, just as dozens of monsters began to charge toward him.
- Holy crap! They’re coming for you!
- Get away! Or do something with that black dragon…
- There’s no way anyone can take on that many monsters alone!?
"Ah, I might’ve provoked them a bit too much. But don’t worry. Dealing with monsters isn’t difficult.”
In the midst of the earth-rumbling attack, Davey took a short breath. “But before I begin, let me warn you that this may be very irritating to your ears. So, please cover them as much as possible. There may also be grotesque scenes, so if possible, leave the stream and come back in about, let’s say, three minutes.”
Shing…
“I probably won’t get banned if you leave and come back in later.”
Davey angled himself slightly toward the massive Drukai army, then he pulled back and took a deep breath.
[Paladia-style Galactic Spear]
[Tearing the Mantle]
Crack, crack!
Longginus, which was shaped like a scimitar, transformed into the claws of a huge beast. It then tore through the area and flipped the ground with an enormous explosion.
***
The shocking explosion was so immense that even satellites were momentarily disrupted. It wasn't a simple fire explosion, but a catastrophe caused by a colossal force that flipped the ground and hurled it into the air.
As the enormous cloud of smoke cleared, many lifeless Drukais were on the ground, but there were still some that managed to survive.
Davey formed a massive Aura Blade at the tip of his spear, which he spun around right after. Then he took a step toward the monsters that were still reeling from the explosion.
Wiping out weaklings wasn't a trait unique to the Mythical Beast King. Davey was also planning to wipe out all the monsters in front of him.
The skin color of the Drukais, which were fiercely hostile toward Davey, had changed. They now had white skin that was covered with pure white-colored shell-like fragments across their bodies.
On top of that, their ferocity had reached new heights. It had grown much more intense than any typical Drukai.
However, they were now desperately fleeing for their lives.
Slash!
The huge scimitar energy did not only split the Drukais in half, but its Aura Blade, which had a high temperature and high pressure, also burned them. So their screams of agony, along with dust and flames, filled the entire place.
These monsters had initially been confident, relying on their sheer numbers. But they had been reduced to a pitiful race that faced a disaster they could not escape from.
Undoubtedly, the Drukais would be a crisis for humans on Earth. But Davey was different. He was the nightmare that these monsters dreaded. He would be the one human they would want to avoid at all costs. Even for the Malicious Spirits, Davey was someone they had to keep in check with all their might. He was like the last bastion of humanity, and he deeply knew of his role as a human.
- Grrr… Gaaa!
The place that was once swarming with Drukias became filled with their charred corpses, and the last remaining Drukai gasped and fell to the ground, looking up at Davey in terror.
“Hmm…”
- ???
- What the hell? What on earth happened?
An onslaught of question marks popped up in the chat once more.
Davey wondered how many viewers had actually left and returned right after. Although he preferred to burn the bodies using the Aura Blade's high heat to avoid making a grotesque scene, he knew that if he continued like this, Hyun-Ah's account would be banned by tomorrow morning.
Of course, the interest he needed to increase his chance of drawing something good from the box was reaching new peaks with every second that ticked by. He didn't need to keep streaming, but Davey found it fun. He had also enjoyed watching streams in his past life, though it had only been a couple of years since his death.
Slash.
Davey finally destroyed the spirit of the last Drukai. Then he transformed the Longginus into the form of a bamboo spear and asked, “Has it been three minutes yet?”
- Exactly two minutes…
"A minute to spare. That was breathtaking.”
His remark triggered another bout of question marks in the chat.
- You’re saying that was a close call after killing all those monsters?
- How strong is this guy? Will the Awakened be as strong as him later on?
Davey ignored the surprised viewers. Using one hand, he summoned a flame toward the still-open rift, seemingly not satisfied just yet.
[Ninth Circle Magic]
[Hellfire]
The fire quickly turned into a massive fireball, which he then hurled at the rift.
But the Hellfire was unable to penetrate the rift, causing it to explode outside of it instead.
Boom!
Then Hellfire completely disappeared.
The rift was a one-way passage, similar to the ones created by the beings of the Abyss but weaker.
This led Davey to wonder if they had expected him to use the rift to launch a counterattack. But now, one thing was clear: the space beyond the rift belonged to them.
“It seems like the rift is a one-way street. I tried to go in and destroy its roots, but it didn’t work.”
After his remark, he grabbed Longginus and aimed it at the huge rift.
Spark!!!
Then he threw the sparking spear.
Bang!
The spear, which seemed like a flash of light, went flying toward the rift and completely destroyed it.
Normally, the rift would have regenerated by now, but it didn't this time. It was a rather anticlimactic end to a disaster that had plagued England for so long.
- Live stream on how to manage disasters.
- Is this how it really ends? This easy?
“I think it would be difficult to stream anything after this. So, I’ll open the box and end the stream right after.”
- Ah… You should show us some more…
- Show us a bit more…
Davey ignored the comments, but he felt a strange energy from within him. For some reason, he had a hunch that he should already stop streaming. But instead of listening to his hunch, he put on a serious expression, making the viewers nervous.
“Alright, everyone. Honestly, this is the tenth time I’ll be opening the box here, so I think it’s about time for something good to come out.”
‘How many times have I already failed? It’s about time for me to get something good,’ Davey thought.
Then he finally began to open the box.
[Beef jerky]
[Beef jerky]
[Korean beef ribs]
[Old iron sword]
[Frying pan]
[Antipyretic]
[Collection of Prince Davey’s embarrassing moments]
…
“...”
The silence was shortly followed by laughter.
- Epic fail LOLS
- Fail
- Wait, what are the embarrassing moments? Aren't those photos?
The photos that came out were a bit unexpected. They were pictures of Davey all tensed up and stiff during his and Perserque’s wedding ceremony. And as he looked at each one of them, Davey realized that there wasn't a single photo that he wanted to share.
- He’s all stiff up! Is that his wedding?
- It's his wedding photo with the queen!
- Look at his face LOLS
Davey felt like all of the people in the chat were mocking him.
He looked at the chat in silence, closed his eyes, and opened them again slowly after a short moment.
“I want to be alone. So everyone, please leave.”
Beep!!
The stream finally ended, and Davey promised himself that he would never stream again.
1. This is a reference to a Korean meme that goes along the lines, “I pity you who don’t know the beauty of love.” ☜
