Chapter 51 - 51 Taking The Initiative To Substitute
51 Taking The Initiative To Substitute
He Miao did not want anyone to misunderstand them. They were not brother and sister as Xu Meng had thought. It was just an excuse to make Grandpa Jing happy.
She shook her head and was about to deny it when Jing Yan grabbed her arm and walked out.
Li Ming stood up and suddenly shouted behind him, “He Miao, come back soon. I still have a match later!”
He Miao turned around and nodded at Jing Yan, but she felt a sharp pain on her arm where Jing Yan was grabbing it.
She looked at him with a frown and met his angry eyes.
She shook off Jing Yan’s hand and led him to a place where no one could see to avoid being seen. She asked helplessly, “Why are you looking for me?”
Jing Yan’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as he squeezed out a few words from his mouth. “I have a competition in the afternoon. You come.”
He Miao looked at him strangely. “Why should I go to your competition? ”
Jing Yan grew anxious, but after staring at He Miao for a while, he suddenly realized that there was no reason for her to cheer him on personally given their relationship. After a long pause, Jing Yan abruptly turned his head away and said stiffly, “Grandpa wants to see photos of me running. Help me take a few.”
He looked at He Miao, his face slightly red as he added, “I want a close-up.”
He Miao nodded in understanding. A few days ago, she had received the milk that Grandpa Jing had sent over. Moreover, Grandpa Jing had always treated her very well. She had no reason to reject such a small request from an old man.
Seeing that she agreed, Jing Yan’s heart was filled with joy, and his frosty eyes suddenly thawed. He smiled at He Miao like a spring breeze and said, “Then it’s a deal. You have to come. I’m taking part in the men’s 2000-meter long-distance running event.”
He Miao nodded readily.
Jing Yan thought of how she was chasing someone else on the track and felt an itch in his heart. For the first time, he regretted not signing up for more events.
However, two thousand meters was not short. It was not bad to let her watch the whole journey.
He did not really want her to accompany him. He just wanted to collect some interest after spending so many nights with her.
Jing Yan had achieved his goal, but he was still holding the bottle of mineral water that he had snatched. He suddenly felt that he had won against Li Ming and was feeling smug. He then heard He Miao say, “The class rep also signed up for the 2000-meter race. Besides that, there’s also the men’s 800-meter relay race and the men’s high jump. He’s really amazing.”
Listening to her counting the events that other men had signed up for, Jing Yan’s face, which had just brightened, suddenly darkened.
He snorted coldly, and his thoughts of talking to He Miao in a nice tone were instantly extinguished.
Jing Yan stormed across the field with a cold face and returned to his seat.
Mu Xiao was horrified to find that this person’s face was even colder than when he left. He immediately moved to the side and tried to stay as far away from this demon who was obviously in a bad mood as possible.
After sitting for a while, Jing Yan felt more and more irritated. He walked to his class rep and asked, “Can I still register for other events now?”
“Ah?” The class rep was stunned by his question and looked at him in surprise. “Of course not.”
Jing Yan pursed his lips and looked down at him unhappily.
The class rep broke out in a cold sweat under his cold gaze. He wondered why this person was so eager to participate in the sports meet. Why was he suddenly so enthusiastic?
Another round of the men’s team’s sprinting competition had ended. One of the students who left the field was carried back.
The class rep did not care that Jing Yan was still standing on the side. He worriedly examined the list of participants and asked, “Qiu, how are you feeling?”
Qiu Ming’s face showed a trace of pain. He smiled bitterly and shook his head, “I’m sorry, class rep. I accidentally sprained my ankle. I’m afraid I can’t participate in the next competition.”
“This is a small matter, quickly sit down.” After the injured students were settled, the class rep looked at the name list in his hand gloomily. He found that Qiu Ming had signed up for many events, including the men’s 800m relay. He was dumbfounded.
This match was of utmost importance. He had finally managed to gather all four boys for the relay race. Where was he going to find a substitute now?
“I’ll do it.” Jing Yan walked past him, his eyes fixed on the list.
The class rep was startled, but when he saw Jing Yan, he heaved a sigh of relief. When he realized what Jing Yan had just said, the shock on his face immediately turned into surprise. really? “You’re really my savior! Let’s go, we’re going to find the PE teacher now to explain the situation and change the name to yours!”
