Chapter 48: Bandit Monkeys...
"Remember," she called after him, "be cautious."
He turned, giving her one last reassuring smile. "Always."
Leon gave her a passionate kiss and left the house, his mind focused on the journey ahead.
The ash route awaited, and with it, the challenges and dangers he would have to face.
As he walked, the map securely stored in his spatial ring, he felt a surge of excitement. Ever since he came to this world he have never gotten the chance to flex his muscles, this was the perfect chance. He finds fights and battles thrilling.
He clenched his hands secretly in his pockets walking on his way out of the Viscount estate, as for how he knew the way out, He and Amelia had once coincidentally passed through this place, then Amelia told him that that's one of the main exists of the estate, they're other smaller exists, but this is the most populary used and all visitors with power and authority make use of this gate to publicly announce their entry to the estate.
Meanwhile, Leon sighed, to get that yang enhancing potion he had paid a huge price. Not only was the system banned from communicating effectively with him but he now also owed the system huge amount of vice points and during that time, after getting the yang enhancing potion, Leon owed the system around 100,000 vice point.
Yes, that's the amount of vice point he owed the system at that time, and till he repaid all vice points he owed the system, each and every vice point accumulated by him was swiftly collected by the system.
When he fucked Amelia in the blizzard, he noticed that he gained was higher than what he usually gained with each session. At that time, after fucking her and subduing her yin, he was able to earn approximately 12,000 vice point bringing down the vice points he owed the system to the total of 85, 000 vice points.
That was multiple times higher than what he earns in a normal circumstances.
And of course he knew he didn't gain higher amount of vice points because the system was helping him to pay his vice points faster, he knew the amount of vice points he gains was influenced by external conditions and then, he immediately pinned it on the fact that her physique was raging, that must be the reason why he gained that huge amount of vice point from her.
Anyways, after their quickie that ended up interrupted by the butler, he earned only two thousand vice points, so as of now Leon was owing the system a huge amount of 83,000 vice points and he has little to no hope of paying.
Cursing under his breath, Leon walked through the gigantic gate that served as the main entrance to the estate.
Meanwhile, at a bar, Euwen sipped the finest wine available, surrounded by men eager to curry favor with him by exploiting his feud with Leon. His eyes focused intently on Leon's retreating back.
"Hmph! Do what you want, Leon. I'll crush you so badly that your pretty face will be disfigured for eternity," Euwen muttered coldly, his voice inaudible to the others. A strange glint appeared in his eyes. "Your disfigured face will be the last thing Amelia sees before she leaves for her sect."
To Euwen, Leon was nothing more than a mortal. Leon venturing out of the estate into the wilds presented a perfect opportunity for Euwen to strike. However, his goal wasn't to kill Leon but to humiliate him brutally in front of a large crowd. He intended to teach Amelia a lesson she would never forget.
Declaring Leon as her fiancé was a blatant mistake; he was too weak, and she should be ashamed of herself.
Leon felt the multiple gazes on him, but he didn't care. He had a spatial bag hung stylishly at his waist. Its use was just for show. In reality, he possessed a spatial ring with greater storage capacity than the spatial bag.
He wore the bag to avoid suspicion; it would be extremely odd for people to see him leave without carrying anything. The existence of his spatial ring had to remain a secret at all costs, as they were exceedingly rare. Even the Viscount, with all his wealth, couldn't afford one. The only other person with a spatial ring in the vicinity was Seraphina.
Leon walked into the forest, following the major pathway that led directly to the estate's main gate. The pathway was wide—wide enough for multiple carts, about 15 to 20 of them, to pass side by side without any stress. This path was a branch from the northwest trading route, frequently used by merchants traveling to various towns, cities, and sects of the Empire to trade their goods.
"I should be getting close to the branched-out path, that ash-colored route on the map," Leon mused to himself. As he walked, he opened his palm, and with a whisper of intent, a katana materialized!
The blade shimmered with a ghostly silver light, its edge razor-sharp and menacing. The hilt was wrapped in dark, supple leather, fitting perfectly in his hand as if it were an extension of his arm. The guard, a simple yet elegant crosspiece, bore intricate designs that seemed to tell a story of ancient battles and forgotten warriors.
This was a weapon placed in the spatial ring by his father, Leon had no idea if the Incubus Lord was still alive or already dead, but honestly, he didn't care
At the side of this path were extremely tall trees, Leon noticed something unusual.
Meanwhile, with the katana in his hands, his whole demeanor changed drastically. Without saying a single word, he brandished the katana a few times to get used to it. As for how he got this katana, he had found it inside his spatial ring.
"Sigh. It has been long since I've touched a katana," Leon muttered, storing the katana back into his spatial ring.
A loud shuffle of leaves was heard above him, but Leon completely ignored it. It was as if he didn't even hear the sound.
From his blind spot, a bandit monkey which had been observing Leon for a long time from the tall tree at the side of the pathway silently leaped down in a dive, its hands in position to swiftly grab Leon's spatial bag. It turns out that even with his precautions using a spatial bag that was not eye-catching, a few bandit monkeys must have adapted to that little trick.
The bandit monkey could feel its excitement surging as it dove closer and closer to Leon, utilizing gravity quite expertly.
However, before its hands could even touch the spatial bag, Leon's hands, which were unarmed, suddenly had a katana appear in them.
With a silent slash, the head of the monkey was cleanly cut from its body. Leon's slash was so beautifully and expertly executed that not even a speck of blood fell on him. The way he slashed made the blood from the severed head and neck spurt out in the opposite direction.
[1 valor point gained]
"Hmmm..." Leon's gaze landed on the corpse for a moment. "So this is a bandit monkey..."
Studying its features, he sighed. Merely a wild beast, the lowest ranking of beasts. It's no surprise that I killed it quite easily. Leon was a cultivator after all. It would be weird if a simple wild beast posed a problem for him to handle.
The bandit monkey looked like Earth's baboon but had the physique of a monkey, a muscular monkey. It looked quite fierce and majestic with its chestnut brown fur and fur-covered tail. It looked extremely muscular and was around 1.2 meters in height, which is quite a great height for a monkey.
But then, Leon's eyes twitched. "There's more?"
It's already an anomaly enough that a bandit monkey appeared this early in the path. It would be even weirder if there were more of them.
Whoosh-!!
Leon heard a whooshing sound and quickly ducked. With insane accuracy, a stone zipped past where his head was moments ago with great momentum and speed. If he had been even a second late in dodging, he would have sustained injury.
Meanwhile, immediately after the first stone, more stones were thrown at Leon. The accuracy was so great that Leon was forced to utilize the side of his blade to quickly deflect the multiple stones.
"Persistent little pests," Leon muttered under his breath. He could feel the tension building, knowing that staying to fight these monkeys was a waste of time and energy.
He cursed and ran. His target was not these monkeys but the dungeon beasts; at least killing dungeon beasts would give him rewards. These bandit monkeys wouldn't give him what he wanted.
Mocking laughter echoed behind him, a strange, unsettling sound. Anyone hearing it would immediately recognize it as the laughter of bandit monkeys, not human. The monkeys seemed to revel in the chase, their shrill cries and laughter adding to the eerie atmosphere.
Leaves shuffled loudly in the treetops as the bandit monkeys swiftly chased after Leon. It had been long since they had looted someone, making them ferocious and relentless.
"Can't these damn things take a hint?" Leon muttered, glancing over his shoulder.
He could see their shadows flitting between the branches, moving with an agility that made them difficult targets. Leon tightened his grip on the katana, ready to strike if necessary but hoping he could outrun them.
He wasn't afraid of them, he had catched a glimpse of them and knew they were all wild beasts, if there's a higher rank it should be in hiding...
'damnation..'
