Chapter 31
Chapter 31
When Su Yue and Xuan Little Four arrived at the frontlines, the Covert Guards Pavilion was engaged in a deadly battle with several hundred assassins.
Bodies littered the ground, as the original forces on this side had been intercepted. And with such vast numbers, it was no wonder they were unable to spread themselves out. Though formidable, the Covert Guards Pavilion couldn't withstand the endless waves of enemies. Even the most skilled fighters eventually deplete their energy.
Su Yue searched for Covert One, seeing him drenched in fresh blood. Though his expression was indiscernible, his chilling aura could be felt from afar.
Xuan Little Four had already gone to assist, and as Su Yue unleashed her golden needles, several incoming assassins immediately dropped lifeless. Her soft whip struck down a few more. Big White was also exceptionally valiant, biting off the heads of enemies with each bite.
Seeing the injured Covert Guards collapsing nearby, Su Yue casually tossed them several porcelain bottles. Covert One also noticed Su Yue, having heard of the young princess's capable skills, but never imagining her to be so formidable.
While fending off enemies, Su Yue explained to the few Covert Guards, "Take one pill from the black bottles, and the red is for stopping bleeding."
The Covert Guards made no move, glancing at Covert One. Seeing he didn't object, they immediately utilized the medicines. As Covert Guards, as long as they weren't dead, they had to resist the enemy, or face only death.
No one expected Su Yue's medicines to be so effective. The bleeding instantly stopped upon applying the hemostatic powder, and the pills dissolved immediately, instilling a surge of strength within.
Xuan Little Four thrust his sword into an assassin's heart, withdrawing it with a spray of blood. Then he saw even more assassins approaching from all sides. "Little Five, it's no use, there are too many of them coming, we can't kill them all."
At this time, Xuan Little Three, Su Yu, and others joined the battlefield, but they were still vastly outnumbered and couldn't retreat.
Su Yue gazed at the bodies strewn across the ground. To kill their paternal grandfather and destroy the Su family, had these people gone mad?
Seeing more enemies pouring in from all sides, Su Yue casually tossed out a few black bombs. "Bang! Bang! Bang!" These were homemade bombs she had never used from her spatial pouch before.
The explosions sent countless dismembered limbs flying. "I understand you are following orders, whether for money or gain. But you must have life to enjoy it."
The deadly force of these weapons stunned everyone, their movements slowing, many even lowering their blades and swords.
Su Yue raised a few more bombs. "Today, we each serve our own masters, which I can understand. If you leave now, we won't pursue you. But if you insist on fighting to the death, you'll have to overcome these weapons of mine."
Xuan Little Three, Xuan Little Four, and the others surrounded Su Yue, while Covert One and his men took defensive positions.
"Don't listen to him, we outnumber them, I don't believe those things can kill so many of us."
"Nonsense, you follow your master's orders, but we're only here for money. What use is money if we're dead?"
"Exactly, we've already suffered so many casualties."
"I really regret it, this deal is too much of a loss, let's retreat."
"Yeah, let's retreat..."
"You dare!" The lead assassin immediately struck down the man at the front who suggested retreating. "You took the money and now you refuse to do the job? You'll die either way."
"You! How dare you!"
"That's right, we took the money, but so many of our people died. Enough, you didn't lose out, we're leaving."
"Let's go."
Su Yue and the others watched the arguing, seeing that more than half had already left, leaving only those who were likely secretly cultivated by the leader.
The lead assassin was enraged but couldn't control the others now. "Those who remain, kill them!"
Su Yue threw out a few more bombs, and the battle resumed, though their numbers were fewer, they were still formidable.
After a long while, both sides were utterly exhausted. At that moment, a large cavalry unit approached in the distance. Su Yue was the first to notice, worried whether they were friend or foe.
The leader, a young man in silver armor wielding a long spear, charged forward.
"Xiao Yi, it's you! Hahaha, you're here to help me, quickly help grandfather kill these brats." Su Yu instantly regained his spirit upon seeing the newcomer.
"Second Young Master, how did you end up in such a sorry state? Where is that aura of the famed young general?"
"Damn you, if you were me, fighting every day for twenty days straight, let's see if you'd still have any aura left."
"Alright, alright, Second Young Master can rest for now. Leave the rest to Xiao Yi to handle."
Su Yue, hearing their exchange, knew they were allies and felt relieved. With this reinforcement, she immediately stopped fighting and went to check on the injured.
"Third Senior Brother."
"Coming."
Su Yue and Xuan Little Three worked in smooth coordination, treating the wounded from the Covert Guards Pavilion and Su family soldiers. Fortunately, Su Yue had her spatial pouch, able to retrieve supplies without revealing its secrets. Everyone was mostly just amazed by this miraculous pouch.
Covert One also observed Su Yue the entire time, leaning against a tree as she treated his subordinates. Her suturing, dressing wounds, and bandaging were all highly proficient, almost surpassing even Divine Doctor Xuan's skills in many aspects as he often only assisted her. Covert One's gaze deepened, it seemed this young princess's medical prowess exceeded that of the Divine Doctor.
Soon, the young commander Xiao Yi had led his men to eliminate all the remaining assassins. Surveying the scene of wounded and the countless corpses, he remarked, "You all have gotten yourselves into quite the trouble." He even patted Su Yu's shoulder.
"Ow ow ow, take it easy, your grandfather here is injured you know."
"You're injured too?"
"What do you think? Nearly every day for over twenty days we've faced assassins, these past few days especially without a moment's rest."
"Is the Su General alright?"
"My grandfather is fine, my elder brother is over there. By the way, what made you come?"
"Ah, I should have arrived sooner to support you all. But I had just returned from a trip to the Northern Borders with the Prince when I heard about your return to the capital. The Prince was worried something might happen, so he sent me with men to provide backup. But I was too late."
"It's never too late for you to arrive, Brother Xiao was just being thoughtful as always."
Xiao Yi noticed Su Yue and Xuan Little Three treating the injured, his gaze flickering. He approached Su Yu. "Which one is Divine Doctor Xuan?"
"Oh, the one in the dark grey robe."
Xiao Yi saw that Xuan Little Three was mostly just assisting Su Yue, so he asked, "Then who is that beside him?"
"That's my... my grandfather's newly accepted granddaughter, also the Divine Doctor's junior sister disciple." Su Yu nearly slipped up.
"A woman?"
"Yeah, she dresses as a man for convenience, she's like a sister to me."
After Su Yue had preliminarily treated the injured, she scanned the crowd, pausing when her gaze fell on Covert One. She approached him. "Has the Pavilion Master been injured?"
Covert One glanced at his right arm, the black robes concealing any bloodstains. Su Yue immediately understood, taking her medicine kit over to him.
But Xuan Little Three rushed ahead of her. "Let me do it, you should rest too." As if he didn't notice this man had been secretly observing his junior sister martial sister earlier. Hmph, he wouldn't let this stranger get a good look at her.
Covert One said nothing, allowing Xuan Little Three to dress his wound. She was a princess, it wouldn't be proper for her to treat him. This arrangement was better.
