The container they were in was made of glass, but it need not be said that this was far from ordinary glass. Lex did not know the specifics of the glass, but it definitely needed to be strong enough to resist whatever pressure was exerted from long distance teleportation through the Void.

Considering that the Void was dangerous to just about everyone, at minimum the glass container needed to have defense at the immortal level. If Lex had to take an arbitrary guess, he would say that it was probably at the level of a Celestial Immortal.

For Lex to believe that he could improve the defense of an item at the Celestial level was more than a little arrogant. But that's not what Lex was doing. He didn't need to improve the defense of the entire container.
