Chapter 738 Walking down the aisle
Chapter 738 Walking down the aisle
"Looks like Aunt is becoming smart," FangSu whispered to Meixu, after seeing their Aunt remain quiet when deliberately being provoked, which was unlike her.
"Who cares?" Meixu sneered and picked up her chopsticks.
After dinner, Fu Juan dropped by Lanying's bedroom. She knocked once on the door before opening it and stepping in.
Lanying was sitting on her bed with her gaze at the window. She had her phone in her hand, but she was lost in thought.
That was the scene Fu Juan saw when she came in. "Why did you reject the food I sent to you? You are making the family think bad about you."
Lanying shifted her gaze in her direction and replied with a weak tone, "I didn't come out for dinner because I'm not hungry, and you asked me not to. There was no need to accept the food when I know I wouldn't touch it."
"You should have at least touched the food." Fu Juan insisted.
"It wouldn't have made sense to touch the food and abandon it. That would be a waste and I don't want anyone cursing at me." Lanying retorted and looked away.
Fu Juan sighed and gazed at her with pity. This was one of the rarest times she has seen her exchanging words with her.
The other times, she usually accepts everything she tells her.
'It looks like she is upset, and I was harsh with my words earlier.' Fu Juan thought to herself.
"Are you still feeling bad about what happened earlier? This is the lesson you should learn, and we are lucky you were not asked to leave." Fu Juan said to her in a calm tone.
Lanying glanced back at her and replied, "Mum, I have learned my lesson. I will no longer force anyone to like me, or beg for my attention."
Fu Juan didn't know why she felt uncomfortable with her reply. She couldn't pinpoint what was wrong, but she still accepted her decision.
"It will be good to lie low and ignore everything that is happening. You heard from Meixu that she doesn't permit you to come to her wedding. I can't even plead for you because nobody will listen to me, and I might get thrown under the bus. It's such a pity that you can't wear that beautiful dress I got specifically for this party."
Thinking about how much she spent to doll Lanying up, Fu Juan was upset, but she didn't have anyone to scold or vent her anger on.
"Mum, I don't care about the wedding now. Before, I really wanted to attend it, but since I am not welcomed, I will save myself the stress." Lanying said and laid on her bed before covering her entire body with the sheets.
"Good night." She said in an inaudible tone.
Fu Juan didn't have the strength to continue arguing with her, so she sighed and reminded her to come for breakfast the next day before leaving.
"Remember, you can't be late for breakfast tomorrow. Don't give anyone any reason to nitpick on you."
As the sound of the door shutting was heard, Lanying pulled off the sheets over her head and gazed at the door with a sneer.
The next morning, Lanying came out for breakfast. She was on time and made sure to go before Fu Juan, to avoid everyone thinking that she needed her mother's help to come out because of guilt.
During breakfast, Lanying was very quiet. She ate at her own pace and only left when she was done eating.
"Lanying get dressed, we are going to the orphanage in the next 2 hours." Fu Juan spoke as she was about to leave.
"Okay," Came Lanying's reply before she turned around and left.
Over the next few days, Lanying's voice was not heard, and nor was any complaint made against her.
It was as if she no longer existed, only coming out when it was time to eat, and occasionally taking walks along the lawn, but nobody cared about her, apart from Fu Juan.
Meixu's wedding was happening the next day, so the entire Fu family members were busy.
Currently, Jia Li was helping FangSu and the servants to wrap the gifts for the guests. Jasmine who was playing all by herself felt that their activity was interesting and came to help, but she git cajoled by her mother, to sit at a place and watch them.
After watching for a while, Jasmine demanded to know the reason she was not allowed to help.
"Mummy, are you afraid I wouldn't get it right?"
"Not exactly. This is not the work children of your age should be doing. Go and okay with Ocean, okay?" Jia Li said with a helpless gaze on her, before carrying in with her work.
Jasmine sighed and continued sitting there, no longer disturbing them. She felt that it was more interesting to watch them, than going to play with Ocean.
FangSu smiled at the cute little girl and comforted her. "Da Xia, your birthday is coming up in 2 months. When that time comes, you will help to wrap your birthday presents."
"Really? That will be so much fun. Will you help me?" Jasmine asked with a sweet smile.
"Of course, our Da Xia will be helped by everyone," FangSu said to her with a wink.
Jia Li watched them converse and couldn't help by smile. Her little girl was growing every day, and she looked so beautiful.
After wrapping a good number of gifts, there were only a few left, so FangSu turned to the little girl to ask, "Da Xia, tomorrow is the wedding, do you want me to show you how to walk down the aisle?"
Jasmine nodded and quickly got off her seat. She looked very excited to learn about her steps in walking down the aisle.
"How do you know how to walk down the aisle, have you had a wedding before?" Jia Li teased.
"It's because I will soon have a wedding that I practiced this several times," FangSu said with a proud gaze.
"Fine, you will be a better teacher than I, since you can't wait for your day to reach." Jia Li replied.
FangSu pretended to be annoyed and called out, "Sister-in-law!"
