Chapter 72 - He Has Been Waiting For Her
Chapter 72 - He Has Been Waiting For Her
When Jia Li got to the hospital and learned the situation of her parents, she finally understood what the old man meant by 'save your strength'
Officer Su was already standing at the entrance of the hospital when they arrived.
"Officer Su, what happened to my father?." Jia Li asked, without knowing that her mother had died about 2 hours ago.
Officer Su was in a dilemma. He glanced at Grandfather Fu and the people behind him, before slowly changing back to Jia Li.
"Miss, your father is in the theater." Officer Su replied.
Jia Li was shocked to hear the news as she took some steps back as hot tears rolled down her cheeks.
Her servant which Grandfather Fu assigned to take care of her, quickly came to her side to hold her.
"What happened? How can this be?." Jia Li asked?
"Officer Su, please lead the way." Butler Lu said before Jia Li would ask another question that will be difficult to reply to.
Officer Su led them in, and straight to the theater.
Jia Li could see the bright red light of the theater, which signified that surgery was going on. She covered her face with her palms and wailed uncontrollably.
Grandfather Fu tried to console and encourage her, but she wouldn't listen.
Grandfather Fu sighed before instructing Officer Su to get the doctor, the doctor in charge of Mrs. Qin's surgery.
Officer Su left and arrived 5 minutes later with the doctor and a nurse.
"Are you Jia Li, Mrs. Qin's daughter?." The doctor asked after greeting Grandfather Fu.
Jia Li raised her head and glanced at the doctor. She recognized him as she had seen him on one or two occasions.
"Yes, I am. Doctor, what about my mother?." Jia Li asked as she stood to her feet and wiped her tears.
"Miss Qin, I'm sorry to announce to you that we lost your mother. She was already in a coma before she was brought here. And before we could start operating on her, we lost her. Please accept my condolences." The doctor said as he gave a slight bow.
Jia Li was probably too shocked to react because she wasn't saying anything. She didn't even hear the rest of the words the doctor said to her.
"Jia Li... Jia Li..." Grandfather Fu called out but received no response.
'She must have been too shocked with the news.' Grandfather Fu thought as a sigh escaped from his lips.
He placed his hand on Jia Li's shoulder, and then signaled to the servant to help her sit down.
As there were still some formalities left to settle, the nurse had to speak up since Jia Li wasn't responding to the doctor.
"Miss Qin, the doctor would need your cooperation to identify and claim the patient's body."
No matter what they said to Jia Li, she didn't respond to them.
"Doctor, it looks like the patient is in shock. Please give her some time." The middle-aged doctor that came with Grandfather Fu, said.
"Alright. But Miss Qin needs to sign some papers before the body would be transferred to the morgue." The doctor explained.
"We understand, thank you!." Grandfather Fu said.
"That's the least we can do Sir." The doctor said before leaving with the nurse.
Jia Li didn't know how long time passed by before hot tears started streaming down her eyes. From sniffing, her wail got louder.
Grandfather Fu sighed as he rubbed her back.
"Mum... Mum... Mum..." Jia Li mumbled as she wailed with her palms over her mouth.
Jia Li cried tears of pain and anguish. She was too grieved to say anything, as the only words that left her mouth were, mum.
Grandfather Fu thought it was best to let her emotions out, so he allowed her to cry to her heart's content.
But how could Jia Li cry to her heart's content?
Before 5 minutes passed, the doors to the theater opened, and the doctor walked out with a grave expression on his face.
When the rest except for Jia Li saw the doctor's facial expression, they knew that things weren't good.
"Doctor, how is the patient?." Butler Lu asked.
Jia Li's attention was caught, but she didn't raise her head as she continued to cry.
"I'm sorry, but we lost him. For a moment, we thought he had him because his heart rates stabilized a few minutes ago after about 2 hours of battling before it started beeping."
"A few minutes ago? That was when we came in." The Butler said.
Grandfather Fu who was in deep thought said slowly as his gaze landed on Jia Li. "He must have been waiting for her."
Grandfather Fu's words made sense. Mr. Qin's heart rate has been unstable for a long time, and only became normal when Jia Li walked into the hospital.
Then when he was assured that his daughter was okay, and had come to send him off, he gave up the ghost.
Mr. Qin was really waiting for Jia Li to say goodbye.
Jia Li felt her brain shut down. It felt like she didn't hear what the doctor said clearly because she looked lost as she stared at him.
"Doctor, what... what happened to my... my father?." Jia Li asked.
The doctor heaved a sigh before replying to her question.
"I'm sorry Miss, but we lost your father 5 minutes ago."
Jia Li felt her world collapse as everything turned dark in front of her. The last words she heard before she lost consciousness was her name being called out from different people.
"Jia Li!." Grandfather Fu called out in shock as he caught her immediately.
"Miss!." The servant called out with tears in her eyes as she held Jia Li's hand.
"Miss Qin!." Officer Su and Butler Lu shouted as they rushed over.
"Quick, take a look at her!." Grandfather Fu ordered his doctor.
Quickly, a room was made available, and Jia Li was carried inside the room before the doctor started checking up on her.
"General, Miss Qin is weak and grieving, so she tainted. She would be a little better even she wakes up." The doctor said to Grandfather Fu who has been waiting outside.
"Can I see her now?." Grandfather Fu asked worriedly.
He blamed himself for Jia Li's condition. He thought it would be best for Jia Li to receive the shocking news at once, so she wouldn't have to be tormented over and over again.
But what he didn't know, was that she would be too weak to handle both news at the same time.
