Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Three Years

The next day, news about the successful delivery of Mrs. Lassiter reached the ears of almost all their neighbors. They immediately searched through their homes to find something to gift to the Lassiter couple. They did not want to lose this opportunity of becoming close to this couple.

At this moment, the house of the couple was packed with people who came bearing gifts. They all had smiles on their faces as they congratulated the both of them. Some of these people even wanted to hold Leric, but all of them were tactfully refused by his strict father.

“Everyone, I thank all of you for these wonderful gifts, but I hope that you can give the rest of the day to us since my wife still needs to rest.” Leric’s father said with a smile.

The neighbors congratulated them once again before they left the couple’s home.

The reason why these people were so friendly to the couple was because of their high social status. Leric’s father was a company commander whose strength was widely acknowledged on the battlefield. As for his mother, she was a doctor renowned for her ability to cure even the most serious illnesses and injuries. Because of these reasons, almost everyone in their city wanted to become acquainted with them. However, his parents maintained a neutral stance to their enthusiasm.

Leric was still one day old, but he was able to retain the memories of his past life. The only thing that made him irritated was his underdeveloped vocal cords. He could not express his emotions through words, so he remained silent for who knows how long. He would not even utter a cry whenever he soiled his clothes. Because of this, his parents were quite worried that something was wrong with their child. They only sighed in relief when his mother discovered through physical testing that their son was healthy and strong for his age.

Days passed by in a flash, it has been three years since Leric was born in this world. During these three years, he learned many things about the current world he was living in.

.....

Falkur, it was a world full of magical creatures and wondrous lands. It only has a single massive continent called the ‘Regalis Continent’, a vast expanse of land that housed countless types of magical creatures including humans.

In this world full of magic, the ones maintaining the balance were the super-powerful experts called ‘espers’. With a single wave of their hands, they could cover the skies with rainclouds and make it rain. They could even decimate an entire mountain with their fists, but of course, only a few individuals have managed to reach this level of power.

The city where Leric’s house was located was within the territory of the Leone Empire. The Leone Empire was also one of the biggest empires of the Regalis Continent and it has hundreds of cities under its command.

The three-year-old Leric was sitting cross-legged on the floor. In front of him was a pile of books written in a language that was different from where he came from. He had some problems understanding the texts written on these books during the first year, but everything became easier for him when he was finally able to speak. He asked his mother to teach him how to read and write.

It did not even take a month for the just then sixteen-month-old Leric to fully understand the language.

At first, the couple was horrified at how fluent their son was able to speak, but they remained silent about it and just secretly thank the gods for giving them such a genius child.

At this moment, he was casually reading a book about espers. He was fascinated with this book after he began reading it. He had even asked his father to explain the things that he found hard to understand. And now, books about espers and their magic were no longer difficult for the genius Leric. He even had some enlightenment about the abstruse magic that they possess.

“It has been three years since I was born in this world. To think that there actually exists such a beautiful place in the vast universe. Until now, I still find it rather hard to believe.” Leric’s immature voice echoed inside the empty room.

Leric gently closed the book and placed it on top of the books in front of him. He then stood up and stretched his muscles like an adult, but this only made him look cute and silly.

“Now, I have already read all the books present in our home. I should have-” Leric’s voice paused when he suddenly saw something incomprehensible before his eyes.

Rows of texts appeared in front of him as if he was looking at a holographic image.
