Chapter 288 - Pain And Pleasure
When Ein cast the spell, a huge amount of divine energy began to emanate from her body. The spell she cast could only be learned by certain members of the Tears of Light.
They had to pass a test and prove their loyalty to the organization. After that, they were allowed to choose the secret spells that suited them. But, that was only the beginning. The biggest challenge was learning the spells that were part of the Art of the Archangels.
It took many mages at least several months to learn their chosen spell. But, Ein did it in a few days. In that respect, she was special, magic was no more difficult for her than homework at school.
Crackle.
A large number of blue lightning bolts appeared on Ein's hands, which quickly transformed into gloves. It wasn't a gear, it was a spell that caused electrical charges to compress and interact with each other.
"That looks menacing." Said Evan eager for a fight.
Ein answered nothing and folded her palms together, then poured in some mana. A huge electric sphere began to appear in front of her hands. She was serious. She was going to kill Evan with this attack.
Evan smirked and said, "Well, okay, let's have some fun!"
The next moment, one of the sigils on his body lit up. This time he used the power of a 69 demon, Marquis Decarabia.
A yellow magical circle with the image of a star appeared in front of Evan. With each passing second, the energy increased, and the magic circle was ready to fire at any moment.
Evan had grown considerably stronger since last time, so now he paid only two years of his life for the power. Considering Evan's overall lifespan, that was a trifle.
Whooosh.
Evan and Ein attacked, and the golden and electric rays instantly reached each other. This attack could injure even a creature of the third rank, so the cave they were in began to collapse gradually.
An enormous crater formed in the center of the explosion, and dozens of wide cracks went through the entire room.
However, Evan and Ein were completely unharmed. The blast wave did not cause any damage to them.
<What was that spell? How could he suppress it?> Ein thought, looking at Evan. She couldn't believe that some mage on the Two-Pointed Star stage with no flames on his platform could have such power.
Evan's strength, though, was a surprise to himself.
<I didn't expect the beam to be so powerful. It's definitely because of the effect of the Dragon Sigil. I'm so pissed at this girl, I want to crush her like the light mages in my past world>. Evan thought to himself and dashed off toward Ein.
The girl accelerated as well, and a second later, they both turned into flashes of light: black and blue.
Evan and Ein exchanged dozens of blows in just a few seconds. And their attacks had already destroyed several rooms and killed a couple of Meteorite Golems.
Bam.
Ein slapped Evan with all her might and tossed him aside calmly, saying, "I wonder why you got so angry after I told you that rules are everything to me, regardless of their purpose, justice, and so on."
Whooosh.
As soon as she had finished speaking, several rays flew toward her, which Ein easily repulsed with a simple wave of her hands.
Evan looked at her fiercely and said, "You're stupid. Rules like that take away all freedom from human action. Without freedom, there is no point in living. Without freedom, people become puppets, and the world begins to stagnate."
Whooosh.
He swung the scythe, and the magma blade flew toward Ein.
"How could you even know that?" Said Ein and cast another spell. Electric charges built up in her hands, and she threw a bolt of lightning toward the magma blade.
There was a deafening explosion, and part of the cave was destroyed.
"Believe me, I know this better than anyone. I've seen empires obey idiotic rules and people be more like gutless puppets. But that's not what makes me angry. Somehow, over time, these people begin to think that if they choose to obey the rules, so should the rest of us. They try to encroach on the freedom of others and take it away. But, even the gods have no right to set rules for me. I do what I want!"
"So the rules are an obstacle for you? Frankly, I don't understand you. When there are clear rules, all you have to do is follow them. Then there won't be any surprises and surprises. Everyone will know exactly what they have to do and what can happen in this or that case. If one obeys the rules, life is simple and painless." Ein said, puzzled.
"You're right. If one obeys the rules, one will definitely live out the rest of one's life. But, that means that you will spend your life following the will of others. And most importantly, a foregone life and understandable outcomes are too boring. That kind of life is even worse than death!" Evan's voice rumbled, and it reached Ein in a flash.
She attacked Ewan, but he blocked her punch and punched her in the stomach. Ein didn't even flinch and tried to counterattack, but by then Evan had already dropped her to the floor.
He grabbed her by the neck and began choking her, "Before you die in agony, I'll tell you one more thing about the rules. There is no pleasure in obeying the rules. What's the point of living if nothing can make your blood boil and keep you ecstatic? The rules don't even allow you to step outside the box and find that feeling."
Evan squeezed his hands harder, and Ein's neck was about ready to break as suddenly the lightning gloves exploded and tossed Evan aside.
Ein quickly ran to the side, grabbed the two remaining members of the Tears of Light, and ran off. She knew that if they continued to fight, she would surely die.
"Ran away. Well, it's harvest time." Said an already calmer Evan looking at the many brown spheres lying on the ground. This was Meteorite Glass.
...
"Miss Ein, thank you so much for saving us!" Said one of the surviving members of the Tear of Light.
He dreaded imagining what Evan would have done to him if Ein hadn't led them away from the cave.
"Miss Ein? Are you all right?" The light mage asked. It seemed to him that there was something wrong with Ein. She was trembling and muttering something to herself.
The next moment Ein turned around. The man was shocked. It was the first time he had ever seen Ein smile. Moreover, her smile was somehow unnatural and even creepy.
"AHAHAHAH looks like he was right. Now I understand what pleases me, I can feel my blood drilling. This pain, ah, it's a true pleasure." Said Ein holding her hands to her neck. Her neck was all bruised from Evan's tight grip.
"What's happening to you?"
Ein licked her lips and said, "More, I want more, it's not enough, I've never felt better, pleasure comes first."
Whooosh.
The next moment she turned into a blur and grabbed her two subordinates by the heads.
Bam.
She slammed them against each other with all her might, causing the heads to explode.
"What? That's not it...why don't I feel anything?" Ein was puzzled. Killing these two and hurting them did not give her any pleasure.
Ein tried to find a reason for this. She didn't want to part with the feeling.
Suddenly the scene of Evan strangling her appeared in her mind, and there was not an ounce of pity in his eyes.. At that moment, many goosebumps went all over Ein's body.
