Chapter 276 - Four Star
"Meteor Glass?" Asked Evan.
"Yes, after the symbiosis ends, Golem comes out of anabiosis, and at that moment, you can get the very rare material Meteor Glass. But, it's not as simple as it may seem at first glance."
Dorlus sighed and continued, "First of all, these Golems are at the - Two-Pointed Star stage. That's why I told you that you're not strong enough yet. Given your current stage. But, that's not all. After the symbiosis ends, the Golem is covered in transparent, brown crystalline armor. In this state, which lasts for three days, his strength is equal to a mage on the stage - Two-Pointed Star with two flames. Such an opponent would be tough to deal with."
"I see, I need to kill such a Golem to get Meteorite Glass, right?" Asked Evan.
"Yes, but this armor is not Meteorite Glass. It's just normal material from monsters. Meteorite Glass looks like a sphere, and that sphere is near the Monster Core of this Golem, okay?" Said Dorlus.
Evan nodded and immediately asked, "Will one sphere be enough? I mean, how many flasks can a small sphere make?"
Dorlus was a little puzzled, "What makes you think one sphere won't be enough? The Golem is at least ten meters tall. The diameter of this sphere, according to my data, is one meter. That would be more than enough for dozens of flasks. Moreover, if you want to make some money, you can kill a few more Golems. We'll buy all the Meteorite Glass you offer us from you."
"I have a question." Said Evan.
"I'm listening to you."
"You say that Meteorite Glass, this is rank three material, but these Golems are in the - Two-Pointed Star stage, how is that possible?"
Evan didn't understand how that was possible. He thought it was some kind of mistake that a mage at the - Two-Pointed Star stage could get third-rank material on his own.
"That's a good question, unfortunately, I can't give you a detailed answer. I can tell you that these Golems are unique to such a phenomenon, but don't be deceived. As I said, you can only get Meteorite Glass within three days of the end of the symbiosis. Furthermore, even though Meteorite Glass is a third-rank material, most smiths do not consider it." Said Dorlus.
"А? Why?" Evan was puzzled.
"Meteorite Glass is a very fragile material. You can't make armor or weapons out of it, but Meteorite Glass is suitable for making flasks or mirrors, for example. In general, you can't use this material to become stronger. It's more for doing experiments of some kind." Dorlus explained.
Evan nodded. Now everything was falling into place.
"Evan, there's one problem I have to warn you about." Said Dorlus.
"What do you mean?" Asked Evan.
"There's another reason I wasn't sure if you were strong enough to go after Meteorite Glass. As I'm sure you've guessed by now, the end of the Golems symbiosis in those caves will occur in exactly two weeks. By then, you should preferably already be there. Of course, you don't have to be in such a hurry, you'll have three whole days. But, there is someone else who is interested in Meteorite Glass." Dorlus said quietly.
"Hmm? And who's that?" Asked Evan.
"It's a small group of the most powerful light organization, the Tears of Light," Dorlus said coldly.
The Tears of Light were the greatest adversary of all vampires. They hated these creatures and wanted to exterminate them completely.
Evan was surprised, and Dorlus noticed that.
"You shouldn't be so surprised. We have an extensive information network throughout the kingdom. This sort of, not particularly classified sortie is easy for us to find out about. Since I brought it up, I want to make a deal with you." Said Dorlus.
"A deal? What kind of deal, exactly? What will I have to do?" Asked Evan.
"It's no secret that vampires dislike members of light organizations, to say the least. Especially the Tears of Light, we hate them. My suggestion is very simple. I want their heads on my desk when you come back. Literally, I'll make ashtrays out of those bastards' skulls." Dorlus said harshly.
"What do I get in return?" Asked Evan.
"As I understand it, you need those flasks right now, so as an exception, I will lend them to you, for one month, after which I will be obliged to take them from you and give them to the customer. Furthermore, I will pay a million gold coins for every head you bring me. But that's not all. If you kill all the members of the Tears of Light, I will give you the choice of any second rank 4-star weapon you desire." Said Dorlus.
He was offering Evan a very lucrative offer. But, such great rewards were reserved for great accomplishments.
"How strong will the members of the Tear of Light be, and how many will there be?" Evan asked. Finding out this data was the most important thing. He had to understand if he could pull it off.
Before Dorlus answered, Evan quickly cast Mammon's Gaze. He watched every muscle on Dorlus' face. Evan had to be sure that the vampire was telling him the absolute truth.
Evan was literally drilling Dorlus with his gaze. His golden eye stared intently at the vampire. Dorlus realized what was going on but decided not to react to it. In his mind, Evan had no reason to trust him.
"There will be fifteen people in all. I understand it's a pretty big group. They want to get as much Meteorite Glass together as possible. All of them are at the stage - Two-Pointed Star. Five of them have broken through one Barrier." Said Dorlus.
"Serious opponents, but if you provide me with a 4-star weapon of rank two right now, I agree to your terms. If I can't kill them all, then I'll give you the weapon back. Agreed?" Evan said with a smirk.
"Hmmm, okay, I won't have another chance to kill them anyway. What's more, I'll be able to get some Meteorite Glass. I see no reason to refuse."
Dorlus couldn't gather a group of vampires and send them to fight against the Tear of Light and risk their lives because Dorlus wants to kill the light mages.. But since his and Evan's goals were the same, he decided to take advantage of it.
