Chapter 24 - 24- Putting up a show
Chapter 24:- Putting up a show
"Punishment? What punishment? Those five people deserved to die, they tormented and beat me every single day. They tried to kill me so I killed them in return. What's wrong with that?"
Yang Chen for some reason, was unable to calm his emotions down and felt extremely furious when facing them. His words held his anger and his dissatisfaction of the clan.
Everybody that heard his outburst, were startled for a moment before erupting out in a loud burst of laughter.
"Haha... what is this servant saying? Did he hit his head somewhere?"...
"A servant dares to besmirch the reputation of the Zhang clan and even has the audacity to spout some lies. Haha, it looks like this slave has to be disciplined severely or else people would look down on our Zhang clan".
Zhang Wei too didn't expect the other party to speak out their displeasure out like that so loudly and openly. He laughed for a while before saying.
"Whether a member of my Zhang clan needs to die or not, it's not up to you to decide. You have committed a serious crime by killing five members of the clan that raised and took care of you all these years".
"You need to come back with us to the Zhang manor where your punishment would be decided by the elders. Of course, you can resist or run if you want to but don't blame me for being ruthless in that case"
Zhang Wei flashed a sadistic smile feeling pleased by the misery of the others. He knew full well what would happen to this servant that dared to murder five clan members inside the manor. Not to mention one of the people he killed was the son of the Sixth Elder.
That Elder who was searching for him madly with a separate unit inside the star fall jungle, would stop at nothing to take revenge for his son.
At that time, the life of this servant would be extremely miserable, he won't be able to die even if he wanted to. Of course, Zhang Wei who had helped catch this criminal, would be rewarded for his effort by the clan. Not only that, but the Sixth Elder would also owe a favour to him.
"So what will your answer be?" Zhang Wei asked nonchalantly.
Huff.. Huff... after that initial outburst where he lost his cool all of a sudden, Yang Chen was finally able to regain control his emotions.
These emotions that came out of him, felt so real that they didn't feel like memories anymore and were almost like he himself had lived those moments. Regardless, now that he was in control, he analysed the situation and thought of every possible way of making it out of this predicament.
Currently, he was surrounded by eight lackeys of the Zhang clan, if he also counted the hunter leader and Zhang Wei, there was a total of ten of them.
Putting aside the hunter leader who was an Eight Star Battle Apprentice just like him and Zhang Wei who was a level above, these lackeys however weren't that powerful.
Most of them were around Six Star Battle Apprentice, even the highest level amongst them was only a Seven Star Battle Apprentice. Although they weren't all that powerful, Yang Chen knew that Zhang Wei represented the greatest danger here.
Additionally, he was also at a disadvantage numerically. He had to find a way that would allow him to escape from here.
The moment he thought that, he felt a revolting feeling suddenly assaulting his heart. It was as if the very thought of running from these people didn't bode with him well.
What is going on? Why is this body suddenly acting weird? Something like this has never occurred before which meant that...
"Is it because of them?"
Yang Chen pondered. There was no other explanation, these changes started occurring the moment these people appeared. His earlier outburst, his sudden loss of control of emotion and now this.
Clearly, it was a kind of residual and deep seated trauma that this body still remembered even when the previous soul had disappeared. These residual feelings wasn't any ordinary feeling, but a powerful resentment towards the Zhang clan.
From this, one could tell how much the poor soul had suffered before Yang Chen's spirit had housed the body.
So how should Yang Chenn remove these residual sentiments? There was only one way to erase the trauma and that was by wiping out the source that was causing it. In this case, it was them.
No wonder his body felt so revolted by the thought of running away, it was because it didn't want to run away from these people. The deep seated resentment wanted to kill these people who laughed at him, it would only be appeased after they were gone.
'So that's how it is' Yang Chen finally understood what he needed to do.
"Zhang Yi"
Zhang Wei smilingly called out, and a man immediately stepped out amongst the lackeys. This person called Zhang Yi, was a Six Star battle apprentice and carried a long sword on his waist.
The moment he was called out, Zhang Yi flashed a cruel smile at Yang Chen and replied "Leave it to me young master. I shall let this servant know his status and the consequences of slandering the Zhang clan".
Feeling satisfied by that reply, Zhang Wei nodded his head. However, the hunter leader beside him who had seen Yang Chen's strength with his own eyes, frowned and quickly called out.
"This doesn't seem fine. Young master Zhang Wei, that guy was able to kill four of my people who were all Seven Star Battle Apprentice. Sending only one Six Star Battle Apprentice towards him seems..."
Li Hao hurriedly shut his mouth. He couldn't get to complete his sentence because he could feel some displeasure in those eyes of the young master of the Zhang clan.
"Hmph, how can a member of my Zhang clan be compared to your people? Even if he is one level lower, the training he got in the Zhang clan makes him far stronger than your people". Zhang Wei spoke in a condescending manner.
