The Girl Who Reincarnated as a Vampire Heiress

Chapter 69

Chapter 69

The exhibition hall had a special restaurant built in, for tired visitors to go in and fill their stomachs.

Unfortunately, there was only deep sea fish on the menu. Grilled, pan-fried, braised, raw...you name it, they had every cooking method imaginable.

Chloe looked at the hideous deep sea fish in front of her, instantly losing her appetite.

She put down her knife and fork, directing her gaze out towards the deep sea fish outside the tunnel.

Ugly they were, but magnificently so.

Other than the limited menu, Chloe didn't find any other flaws.

Qin Huaibei noticed her behavior and asked curiously, "Why aren't you eating?"

Chloe looked into his eyes. "Too ugly, can't get it down."

Hearing this, Qin Huaibei shook his head wordlessly. "Ultimate looks snob, you're hopeless."

Chloe shrugged, unperturbed.

She focused on appreciating the deep sea fish outside.

She didn't know how long she had been watching for when a huge piece of silk fabric suddenly appeared outside the tunnel.

It was quite far so she couldn't see it clearly.

But it really did look like a piece of silk, pinkish-yellow, very big, drifting in the water.

Chloe's body froze, then she imperceptibly extended her psychic perception over.

She shouldn't have looked. The moment she did, Chloe was stunned.

She tapped the person beside her on the arm. "What a huge jellyfish."

As her voice fell, everyone immediately turned their heads over.

Daniel still had a fish head in his mouth. "Where? Where's the jellyfish?"

The silk was drifting closer and closer to them. Not just them, other people in the restaurant had also gathered around.

The gigantic jellyfish emerged from the darkness, gradually entering the area illuminated by the exhibition hall lights.

It really was a jellyfish, estimated to be over 10 meters long. Its tentacles drifted in the seawater, its posture oddly graceful.

Due to its giant size, the jellyfish gave everyone present an immense sense of oppression.

Next to them a blonde beauty covered her mouth and exclaimed softly, "Oh my god, this is the most beautiful creature I've ever seen!"

Beautiful indeed.

This jellyfish wasn't as ugly as the deep sea fish. On the contrary, it was very pretty.

Chloe's eyes were also full of amazement.

Just then, a commotion sounded from behind her.

A group of people wearing the exhibition hall staff uniforms squeezed over from the back, setting up cameras and earnestly starting to film.

Chloe tilted her body sideways. "What creature is this?"

Her voice had just fallen when a low, rich voice sounded from behind her.

"The Styx Jellyfish. Currently the largest known jellyfish species."

Chloe turned her head back to see a man in a suit.

He looked to be around 30 years old, mature, handsome features, wore rimless glasses on his nose, even meticulously dangling an eyeglass chain.

Chloe blinked. "The Styx Jellyfish?"

The man smiled with a nod.

He strolled over, the people in front unconsciously making way for him. He smoothly made his way to the transparent tunnel wall.

His palm gently caressed the wall, appearing extremely nonchalant and elegant.

Sitting at the table, Daniel muttered "show off" under his breath.

Qin Huaibei instantly covered his mouth.

In the crowd, Chloe opened her terminal to search for information on the Styx Jellyfish, then rather interestedly raised her terminal camera to take pictures of the jellyfish.

Such a jellyfish was extremely rare to come across. Many people came to Ocean Planet for the sole purpose of catching a glimpse of this jellyfish.

But not everyone had that kind of luck to feast their eyes.

Even the exhibition hall staff who had been working here for so long had at most seen it a few dozen times.

The man fiddled with a professional camera, steadily clicking the shutter.

The surrounding tourists also all had their terminals out.

Chloe only took one picture, but because she had caught the perfect moment, she managed to capture almost the entire jellyfish.

She moved her fingers, sending this picture to everyone in her contacts list.

A beautiful and rare sight must be shared with everyone!

After Chloe sent it, she felt refreshed. She put her terminal away and continued appreciating the Styx Jellyfish before her.

Beside her, Daniel said, "I heard most of a jellyfish's body is water. If I ate that jellyfish, wouldn't it be equivalent to drinking a huge gulp of water?"

As his voice fell, the man who had been fiddling with the camera laughed and said,

"By the time you drink it, it might not necessarily still be water, but poison instead."

The man put down the camera and kindly told the group of kids,

"Currently, our exhibition hall has not conducted any research on the Styx Jellyfish. But bold conjectures suggest that given its giant size and deep sea habitat, this jellyfish most likely contains potent toxins."

"However, because it is too dangerous, as well as its sheer giant size, we have not had the capability to research the Styx Jellyfish all this while."

Upon hearing this, Chloe nodded thoughtfully.

After getting this bit of free science lecture, Chloe then turned her body around.

But the smile never left the man's lips. He stepped forward and grabbed Chloe's arm, saying,

"Sorry, may I ask if you are Miss Chloe?"

The moment his voice fell, the boy beside her gripped his wrist at lightning speed, face cold as he pried his hand away.

A piercing pain transmitted from his wrist. He couldn't help letting out a hiss.

The man looked at the blonde boy in surprise, his voice somewhat astonished. "Young sir, what do you think you're doing?"

Anderson didn't reply. His expression remained as cold as ever.

The man looked at him, then looked at Chloe. As if having realized something, he couldn't help smiling. "Don't be nervous. I only wanted to have a private chat with this young lady."

Upon hearing this, the atmosphere froze for a moment.

On the other side, Qin Huaibei and the rest got up from their seats, looking at him with unkind expressions.

The man raised an eyebrow, took out a name card from his chest pocket, and introduced himself. "I am called Hurst Rodney, the curator of this Deep Sea Fish Exhibition Hall. Rest assured, I absolutely harbor no ill intentions."

Hurst smiled. "It's just that after seeing Miss Chloe, I was reminded of an old acquaintance of mine."

"So, would you be amenable to chatting privately with me for a bit?"

An old acquaintance?

Chloe looked at Hurst.

She slowly crossed her legs as she sat in the chair, tilted up her chin a little. "If there's anything, just say it here."

Seeing this, Hurst couldn't help but smile. "Miss Chloe, I'm afraid that would be quite inconvenient."

"There's no inconvenience." Chloe looked him up and down. "I don't like being alone with strangers."

Behind them, Daniel yelled, "I could tell with one look you're no good!"

The commotion here was too huge, and a lot of onlookers had already gathered.

Hurst knitted his brows slightly, beckoning over his staff to disperse the crowds, before slowly saying, "Miss Chloe, I've met your mother before."

Silence descended after he uttered this.

After a long time, Chloe tilted her head to size him up, then said, "What exactly are you trying to express?"

Hurst lifted the corners of his lips into a smile. "I know your identity. The vampire race's most doted-on little princess. But Miss Chloe, your father is no saint."

"I knew your mother. She was a peerless beauty. But even so, your father was completely indifferent towards her..."

What followed next was a long tirade exposing Xavier's mercilessness and baseness, implicitly telling Chloe that her father didn't actually care about her at all.

It had to be said, Hurst was very adept at provoking emotions.

Even Daniel's attitude softened a little after hearing all that, mumbling this and that to himself.

From start to end, Chloe did not react.

Her gaze fell on her own terminal, and she finally clicked into Xavier's chat window.

Before Chloe could send anything over, a transfer notification suddenly came from the other side.

A shrill electronic synthetic sound rang out:

"Ding! The heartless universe, the number one scumbag dad has transferred to you - 1.5 million star coins."

Immediately after, Xavier sent an audio message:

"Going out for a bit. The food here looks so pathetic. Take this money so you won't blame me later for not taking good care of you."

After he spoke, the surroundings fell silent again.

Daniel stammered:

"Actually... If he's really this kind of dad, even if he doesn't care about me... that would be... okay."
