Chapter 84: An Apology
Chapter 84
Ling Yue and Lan Ji were enjoying the cool evening in the courtyard when they heard a knock on the door. Lan Ji went to open it.
Seeing Ling Tianzheng outside, with Yang Xiner, Ling Meng, and Ling Xiaobao trailing behind him, Lan Ji gave an amused smile. "Have you all come to apologize to Yue Yue?"
"Yes," Ling Tianzheng nodded. He was reluctant in his heart, but he had no choice but to bow his head under this circumstance. This was the only option he had.
"Yue Yue, they've come to apologize to you," Lan Ji turned his head and winked at Ling Yue behind him.
Ling Yue put down the watermelon in her hand, wiped her mouth with a paper napkin, stood up, and walked to the door. Her indifferent gaze swept over Ling Tianzheng and the others. "If you want to apologize, you need to show sincerity."
"Did you hear that?" Lan Ji smiled at Ling Tianzheng and the others.
Ling Tianzheng glanced at Ling Yue, pursed his lips, and said, "Let's kneel down."
When Ling Meng saw Ling Yue's perfect and flawless face, her eyes were filled with shock and disbelief. Her face had healed, how was that possible?
Ling Yue gave Ling Meng a half-smile, "Surprised?"
"How did your face get better?" Ling Meng wanted her own face to heal quickly too.
A cold sneer appeared on the corner of Ling Yue's mouth, "Why should I tell you?"
"You!" Ling Meng angrily clenched her fists, wishing she could kill Ling Yue right then and there.
Ling Yue turned her gaze to Ling Tianzheng, her tone mocking, "Master of the Ling Family, it seems your words don't carry much weight."
Ling Tianzheng's face turned ashen, and he shouted at Yang Xiner and the other two, "Didn't you hear me? Kneel down!"
Yang Xiner hurriedly knelt down, reaching out to pull her son and daughter, "Hurry up and kneel, don't anger your father."
Ling Xiaobao gave a cold snort and knelt down, his eyes glaring angrily at Ling Yue, filled with hatred and murderous intent. Ling Yue, you just wait, I'll make you pay back a hundred, a thousand times for the humiliation I've suffered today.
Ling Tianzheng's warning gaze fell on Ling Meng.
Ling Meng forcefully closed her eyes, then slowly knelt down, clenching her fists tightly, her nails digging into her flesh and causing a stinging pain. She would remember this moment deeply.
Ling Yue's gaze fell on Ling Tianzheng, carrying a hint of mockery, "Isn't the Master of the Ling Family going to kneel?"
"But I'm your father," Ling Tianzheng didn't expect Ling Yue to demand that he kneel as well.
"Forget it then," Ling Yue turned and walked back into the courtyard.
Lan Ji waved his hand at Ling Tianzheng, "Get out of here."
"Does that mean you're willing to let the Ling Family go?" Ling Tianzheng didn't understand what Lan Ji meant.
"You wish," Lan Ji sneered coldly, reaching out to close the door.
"Wait, I'll kneel," Ling Tianzheng hurriedly called out to Lan Ji, slowly kneeling down. As long as he could preserve the Ling Family, that was enough.
Lan Ji smiled in satisfaction, walking over to sit beside Ling Yue, "What a bunch of fools. Even if they kneel to death here, I won't let the Ling Family off the hook."
"It's going to rain soon, let's go inside," Ling Yue stood up and headed towards the house.
"Rain?" Lan Ji looked puzzled at the sky. The moon was bright, and the stars were twinkling. There was no sign of rain. Plus, he had just watched the news, and the weather forecast said it would be sunny for the next two days.
As Lan Ji followed Ling Yue into the house, strong winds suddenly picked up outside, dark clouds gathered in the sky, and lightning flashed continuously among the clouds.
"It really is going to rain!" Lan Ji exclaimed in surprise. "Those people outside will have to run then. Good riddance." After all, Ling Tianzheng and the others weren't fools. They wouldn't kneel in the pouring rain.
Ling Yue gave a profound smile, "Let's sleep early tonight and enjoy the show tomorrow."
Lan Ji scratched his head in confusion, "What show?"
Outside, Ling Tianzheng and the others wanted to get up when they saw the impending rain, but they found that they seemed to be held down by something, unable to stand up no matter how hard they tried.
"Can you guys get up?" Ling Tianzheng's heart sank as he turned to ask Yang Xiner and the others.
"I can't get up, it's like something is holding me down."
"Me too."
"Dad, did we encounter something... unclean?" Ling Meng looked around fearfully, but the dark alley revealed nothing.
