Chapter 61: Gone Away
Chapter 61
Older Tang heard these words and laughed heartily, "Ling Yue, it seems we are truly destined to meet." He didn't expect his granddaughter to have such an outstanding friend.
"Grandfather Tang, just call me Ling Yue." Since she and Tang Xin were friends, she naturally addressed his grandfather as an elder.
The old Mr. Tang was also not pretentious, nodding with a smile, "Alright, Ling Yue, after this gemstone trading conference is over, you must come visit Grandfather Tang's home."
"Yes." Ling Yue nodded in response.
"Ling Yue, how is the injury on your face? My grandfather knows a doctor who specializes in burn treatment. His medical skills are excellent. When we return, I'll have my grandfather introduce that doctor to you," Tang Xin said worriedly, looking at Ling Yue's face. She had heard that Ling Yue's entire face was ruined by a big fire. As a girl, how would she manage in the future? A girl's face is the most important thing.
"Ling Yue, your face was burned?" Older Tang asked with concern upon hearing this. He had previously seen Ling Yue wearing a mask and thought she just had a cold. He didn't expect that she had actually been burned in a big fire. No girl doesn't love beauty, so she must be feeling very upset inside.
"It's nothing, my cousin is a doctor, and the injury on my face has almost healed," Ling Yue replied. Hearing the boarding announcement, she said, "Let's get on the plane."
"You're not lying to me, are you?" Tang Xin didn't believe her. Burn injuries are the most difficult to heal. She had once seen a person whose face was so disfigured by a big fire that he looked completely different from his original appearance.
"It really has almost healed, see." Ling Yue leaned closer to Tang Xin and removed the mask from her face.
"Oh my god!" Tang Xin's mouth opened wide in disbelief, her eyes filled with incredulity. She had thought Ling Yue's face would be covered in horrific scars, but instead her skin was smoother and more delicate than her own, like a peeled egg.
Ling Yue put her mask back on. "Do you believe me now?"
Tang Xin nodded dazedly, "Your cousin's medical skills are just too good! This can't even be called medical skills anymore, it's like divine sorcery."
Lan Ji raised his head proudly. Of course, the medical skills of their Valley of Divine Doctors were unmatched in the world. There were no injuries they couldn't heal.
After boarding the plane, Ling Yue found her seat. Tang Xin had a lot to talk to Ling Yue about, so she switched places with Lan Ji.
"Ling Yue, I've noticed you've changed a lot," Tang Xin said, passing Ling Yue one of the blankets an attendant had given her. The old Ling Yue always kept her head down and was timid, like a pitiful creature. But the current her exuded an aura of noble confidence, as if she were a different person.
"People always change," Ling Yue replied, accepting the blanket.
Tang Xin took Ling Yue's hand, her expression serious. "Ling Yue, if you ever have any difficulties from now on, you can come to me. I will definitely help you." She knew Ling Yue had been driven out by the Ling family, so she must be having a hard time now.
"Okay," Ling Yue nodded with a smile.
The two chatted happily.
Qin Lie received a call from Yang Housekeeper saying the small courtyard was ready and could be moved into at any time.
Qin Lie hurriedly drove to the small courtyard and opened the door. He saw that it had been cleaned thoroughly, with potted plants arranged in the yard and a small artificial mountain in the northeast corner. Underneath the mountain was a small lotus pond with a few lotus flowers planted, creating a serene and elegant atmosphere.
After putting his clothes in the room, Qin Lie couldn't wait to knock on the neighboring courtyard's door. He was eager to see Yue'er and missed her terribly.
Granny Xu opened the door and, upon seeing Qin Lie, smiled and invited him in.
"Granny Xu, where are Lan Ji and the others?" Qin Lie glanced inside the house.
"They've gone on a trip and won't be back for a week," Granny Xu replied.
Qin Lie paused. "Where did they go?" That guy Lan Ji didn't even tell him—weren't they brothers?
"They went to Myanmar for a gemstone trading conference. Have a seat, I'll go cut some watermelon for you," Granny Xu said, heading toward the kitchen.
"Don't bother, Granny Xu. I just remembered I have something else to do. I'll come visit you another time." Qin Lie felt a bit gloomy. He had moved here to be closer to Yue'er, but she had gone on a trip. What was the point of moving here then?
Qin Lie returned to his own courtyard in low spirits.
Suddenly he remembered there was a mission coming up in Myanmar, and his eyes lit up with a faint smile. He immediately made arrangements for a plane.
The moment he stepped off the plane, a wave of heat hit him.
"It's so hot! Hotter than Xia Country. I feel like I'm being roasted alive," Tang Xin fanned herself, but it was no use.
"Grandpa, when is the car coming? I'm going to die from the heat."
"Soon, just bear with it a bit longer. The car will be here soon." Older Tang had attended the gemstone trading conference in Myanmar last year, so he was somewhat familiar with the weather here. At the very least, it was five or six degrees hotter than their country.
Tang Xin turned to ask Ling Yue if she was hot, but saw her looking calm and composed. "Ling Yue, aren't you hot?" She was even wearing a mask over her face.
"No," Ling Yue shook her head. As a cultivator, this temperature had no effect on her.
As they spoke, a van slowly approached and stopped in front of them.
The door opened and a bearded man got out with a smile, walking up to Older Tang and extending his hand. "Older Tang! Sorry to have kept you waiting. Let's get in the car."
"Not at all, we just arrived ourselves." Older Tang shook the man's hand and introduced his companions to him, as well as introducing the man to Ling Yue and the others. "This is Ma La Nian. He owns his own mines and quarries and is one of the largest raw gemstone suppliers in Myanmar."
The security situation in Myanmar was very chaotic, with various factions controlling their own territories. If you came to Myanmar without knowing anyone, you could easily be tricked and sold on the black market, or directly kidnapped—the lucky ones becoming telecom scammers, the unlucky ones turned into blood farms or simply having their organs harvested.
"Let's talk in the car," Ma La Nian invited everyone aboard the van.
Without air conditioning, being inside the van felt like being in a sauna, and everyone was soon drenched in sweat.
"Endure it for a bit longer. The hotel is very close, just ten or so minutes away," Ma La Nian said apologetically. His luxury cars had all been borrowed by friends visiting Myanmar, leaving him with only this dilapidated van.
"No problem, there will at least be some wind while driving," Older Tang replied casually, making small talk with Ma La Nian. He and Ma La Nian had been introduced through a mutual friend, and their relationship wasn't particularly good. Ma La Nian coming to pick them up in person was already showing a lot of face.
