Chapter 28: Look at the Rough Stone
Chapter 28
Ling Meng received the address and immediately got up to tidy herself up, while making a call to Zhou Mucheng, "Brother Mucheng, are you busy today?"
Zhou Mucheng was just about to go out, "I made plans with Ziyuan to go to his friend's place."
"What a coincidence, I just got a message from Yanxue, she also invited me. Brother Mucheng, can we go there together?" Ling Meng put her phone on the bathroom counter, took out a tube of lipstick, and carefully outlined her lips. The color was a pink jelly color that made people want to taste it, wondering if it was as sweet as she imagined.
Zhou Mucheng glanced at his wristwatch, "See you in ten minutes."
"Okay." Ling Meng looked at herself in the mirror, smiled satisfied, sprayed a little perfume on herself, looked at herself again, and went out satisfied.
The car stopped in a parking lot outside a business center.
"We're here." Song Ziyuan got out of the car.
Song Yanxue opened her eyes, rubbed them, yawned, and got out of the car. She had just taken a nap in the car and was still very sleepy.
She glanced at Ling Yue with a hint of ridicule in her eyes. Ling Meng would be here soon, and Ling Yue would definitely be scared like a mouse seeing a cat.
Song Ziyuan walked to Ling Yue's side, "This is an uncut gem field. My friend is inside. Let's go in."
"Okay." Ling Yue nodded slightly, with a hint of anticipation in her eyes. Even from far away in the car, she could feel the aura here. Compared to the aura in the antique street, the aura here was dozens of times more abundant, giving her the urge to stay here and cultivate.
Walking into the gem field, it was filled with large and small uncut gems, with many people squatting or standing using tools to examine the gems.
There were also bursts of cutting machine noises from time to time in the distance, apparently gems could be cut on site.
"Ziyuan, you came." A muscular man with tiger tattoos on his arms walked over. He laughed heartily and patted Song Ziyuan on the shoulder.
"Brother Ma, this is my friend Ling Yue and my sister Song Yanxue. This is Ma Tao, just call him Brother Ma." Song Ziyuan introduced each other. He met Ma Tao by chance. Before being discharged from the army, he was a border guard. Ma Tao often went to the border areas of Yunnan. Once when he was on duty, he saved the then severely injured Ma Tao, and they became friends ever since.
"Hello, ladies!" Ma Tao smiled and greeted Song Yanxue and Ling Yue.
Song Yanxue retracted her gaze after looking them over, "Brother Ma, I heard from my brother that jade is mined from these stones. Can I see how it is mined?"
"No problem, but not every stone here contains jade, it depends on your luck." Ma Tao led Song Ziyuan and the two women to his own booth. Knowing Song Ziyuan was coming, he had sent several watermelons over yesterday.
Ma Tao's booth was at the northeast entrance, which was considered a very good spot in the entire market.
"Sit down, I'll cut some watermelon for you." Ma Tao had Song Ziyuan and the two women sit closer to the electric fan and changed the fan mode to oscillating. "It's too hot today and there's no AC in the market, just use the electric fan."
"It's fine, this is good." Song Ziyuan smiled unconcernedly and glanced at the time, it was almost nine o'clock, "Why aren't people coming yet?"
"Brother, who else did you call?" Song Yanxue was irritated by the heat. If she had known it would be so hot here, she would have rather stayed home and enjoyed the AC.
Song Ziyuan looked at Ling Yue, who was staring thoughtfully at the surrounding gems, "See one you like? I'll have Brother Ma give you a discount later."
"What's the use of her picking one, she doesn't have money to buy it anyway." Song Yanxue sneered disdainfully. She couldn't even afford medical expenses, yet she wanted to buy gems.
Song Ziyuan shot Song Yanxue a displeased glance, "No one thinks you're mute if you don't speak." He should not have brought her along.
"I'm your sister. Why do you always bully your sister to help outsiders?" Song Yanxue's eyes reddened grievously.
Ling Yue paid no attention to the bickering siblings. All her attention was on the gems. She could clearly feel which gems had the most abundant aura. If she guessed correctly, the more abundant the aura on the gem, the higher the quality of jade inside.
"Here, have some watermelon. This watermelon is very sweet. It was just picked from the field yesterday." Ma Tao came over with slices of watermelon, smiling as he put them on the table.
"Ling Yue, have some watermelon." Song Ziyuan handed a slice to Ling Yue.
"No thanks, I'll go take a look at the gems." Ling Yue got up and walked towards a pile of gems not far away. She didn't want Song Ziyuan and Song Yanxue to see her looks yet. Her appearance had fully recovered, and her skin was even better than before due to the marrow cleansing.
Song Ziyuan regretfully watched Ling Yue's back. Ling Yue must not want them to see her burned face.
When they got back, he would call and ask if there were any doctors in China who were better at treating burns. Even if they couldn't completely cure her, any improvement would be good. A young lady shouldn't always have to wear a mask.
Ling Yue stopped next to a black gem about the size of a soccer ball, with several deep cracks on it.
She reached out and stroked the gem. A rich aura rushed from her palm directly into her body, making her limbs and bones feel refreshed.
"You like this gem?" Ma Tao walked over to Ling Yue and looked at the gem she was stroking, "This gem has many cracks, some of which go deep into the stone. Even if there is jade inside, it will affect the jade." This gem was given to him as a bonus when he bought gems from a gem merchant before. It had been in his booth for a long time with no one interested, because the quality of this gem was too poor and had almost no chance of containing jade.
"I think it's pretty good. How much is this gem?" Ling Yue wanted to buy it.
"You really want to buy it?" Ma Tao looked at Ling Yue in surprise. As a professional in gems, he wouldn't have said those things to her if she wasn't brought by Ziyuan. He would be happy to earn more.
"Yes." Ling Yue nodded affirmatively.
"Well..." Ma Tao looked over the gem, wondering how much would be appropriate, "Forget it, I'll give it to you." After all, it was given to him for free by the gem merchant at the time, so he'd take it as making friends with Ling Yue.
"That won't do. I won't take it if it's not paid for." Ling Yue had her own principles. She and Ma Tao were not related, she could not take his things for free.
"What's going on?" Song Ziyuan walked over.
