Chapter 59: A little longer.
Chapter 59: A little longer.
Luo ZhouZhou watched Sky Wolf coming this way, so he sank his body further down, moved slowly to the left, and got under the bar. Slipping his hand to the side, he gripped a stainless steel cocktail cup in his hand.
He heard rustling footsteps coming to a halt where he was hiding, and knew that Sky Wolf was standing outside the bar, looking in. He held his breath, held the cocktail cup to his chest, and stared at the floor in front of him without breaking eye contact. He clearly knew that he was no match for Sky Wolf, and as long as Sky Wolf went around the bar and came in through the side entrance, he would have to strike first and find an opportunity to rush out.
A bead of sweat slid down his forehead and dripped into his eyes, stinging and itching, but Luo ZhouZhou didnt raise his hand to wipe it off, only blinked.
The rustling footsteps sounded again, as Sky Wolf was walking toward the entrance of the bar.
Luo ZhouZhou dropped the cocktail cup in his hand, and turned the end, which had a rounded base, toward the outside.
Beep.
At this moment, a terminal sound comes from above him.
Sky Wolf's footsteps stopped, and he stood still.
"It's me didn't find I'll handle it" Sky Wolf spoke in a low voice, in a respectful tone. But when he hung up the terminal, he spat and said in a dismissive tone, "What the fuck?"
Footsteps sounded again, striding over toward the living room.
There was a muffled thud on the stairs, and he went up to the second floor. Luo ZhouZhou didn't hesitate any longer and took this opportunity to get out from under the bar, so he darted behind the overturned couch, and looked toward the second floor stairs.
There was no one there, and the sound of a door opening and closing came from deep in the hallway on the second floor. He quickly eased his footsteps and ran out the door. As soon as he left the living room, he immediately saw two men standing at the villa's iron door, who should be Sky Wolf's men.
They were leaning against the iron gate with their backs to the villa, smoking cigarettes, whispering to each other, and looking at the end of the road from time to time. Luo ZhouZhou crept along the door to the right, climbed over the fence of the steps, and went down into the garden.
There was no light on the right side of the garden, and the flowers and plants were all hidden in the darkness. He scurried past them quickly, and then took a few cat-like steps forward, hiding in the shadows behind the shrubs. 1
The rain became heavier, no longer stringy; it dripped down from the branches and leaves above his head, into his neck, and then down his collar to his back, bringing a bone-chilling coldness all over.
Luo ZhouZhou crouched motionlessly behind the shrubs, waiting quietly. Finally, he heard someone thumping down the stairs from inside the villa, and then Sky Wolf shouted, "Let's go, you won't find anyone here."
"So where to now?" The unfamiliar voice was asking.
"Call in more men, go and quietly check with all the people he knows in Aleisha and see if hes hiding there. If not, search the whole area, he won't get far."
"Why in Aleisha, isn't his Alpha in Bayard?"
Sky Wolf seemed to snicker and said, "His Alpha isn't here, and he just came back here and left again before I got here."
"What if he crossed the checkpoint and left Aleisha?"
Sky Wolf's voice gradually came closer toward the villa door as he spoke, "They sent a detain order to Sekka, and if there's no word from Sekka, he's still in Aleisha."
"And this villa, why dont you just keep it?"
"What if I don't keep it? You still want to move in?"
"No, I mean, why don't those guys of theirs seal and lock the gates?"
Sky Wolf laughed and said, "The military department is actually a lot scarier than you think, how inconvenient is the seal? For your information, there will be a crop of people coming one after the other to this villa tonight"
Luo ZhouZhou hugged his knees tightly, shrinking his whole body as much as possible. It was only when the sound of a car starting up and then drove away that he slowly lifted his head and looked at the iron gate through the gap in the bushes.
There was no one there, Sky Wolf and the others had left.
On the far right of the villa was circled by an iron fence, covered with roses he had planted himself. Because it was winter, even though the gardener had taken precautions against the cold, many of the leaves had fallen. He waited a while longer, until he was sure that no one else was left, then he got up and quickly ran to the fence.
There, in the second flower bed under the roses, was another set of worker's clothes that he had buried. It was a spare set of clothes that he had conveniently hidden for later when he escaped through the checkpoint, and although he had never thought of escaping again, he had forgotten to dig it up.
The soil in the flower bed was very wet, so he looked for the red brick used as the marker, gently took it away, removed the top layer of soil under it, pulled the edge of a plastic bag, and slowly pulled it out. After dragging the sealed plastic bag out, he sat down against the flower bed, crudely tore open the bag, pulled out the workers' uniform inside, and put it directly over his coat.
There was also a fake beard at the bottom of the bag, and he ripped the tape off the beard and stuck it to his face.
He followed the fence out of the gate and walked out this way with his head down. Making sure he could no longer be seen in the direction of the villa, he ran up the empty avenue.
Now that the men were searching for him in Aleisha, he had to get back to Bayard before he was found.
Chu Feng wasnt there, but he could go to Chen SiHan and ask him for help.
Luo ZhouZhou ran and dialed Chen SiHan's terminal, but for some reason, he dialed several times and got no answer when he was connected. He simply gave up dialing and ran directly to the checkpoint.
The rain became heavier and small pools of water accumulated on the ground, reflecting the light of the white street lamps. He stepped into those pools of water and cried silently with his mouth open as he ran.
His eyes were washed by the rain and he couldnt open them, so he couldn't tell if it was rain or tears flowing on his face. Only then did he let out the panic that Luo Pei and Linda had been captured.
Soon he ran near the checkpoint and Luo ZhouZhou stopped and watched from a distance. There was still only one soldier standing on guard at the checkpoint, wearing a black raincoat, gently stamping his feet, putting his hands over his mouth, and breathing white air.
At the farther post, there were two soldiers talking quietly.
Luo ZhouZhou knew that they had both received pictures of him, and that if he went through customs like that now, he would be detained immediately. Then Sky Wolf would pretend to be a relative and come to the checkpoint to take him away.
He wiped the rain off his face and approached the checkpoint slowly from behind the shrubs by the roadside, and then hid behind the trees not far away. It was raining heavily, and the area was cold and dark.
Luo ZhouZhou watched the guard post unblinkingly, like a small panther hunkered down in the darkness, waiting patiently. He didn't know how much time had passed, but the two soldiers from the guard post came out of it, laughing and talking, and walked to the next duty building.
Luo ZhouZhou had been here last time with Chu Feng, and knew that there was no bathroom in the booth, so if they wanted to relieve themselves, they had to go back to the duty building. When the two soldiers entered the duty building, he stepped out from behind the tree he was hiding behind, and ran to the guard post with his arms folded and hunkering.
"Name."
"Lee Johnson."
"Age."
"43."
Seeing the unfamiliar soldier sizing him up, Luo ZhouZhou volunteered to explain, "I work in Aleisha, and when I heard that my aunt was sick, I wanted to go to Bayard overnight to take care of her."
"ID card." The soldier said, following the procedure in a businesslike manner. The checkpoint was set up, but the main precaution was that civilians from Bayard would come to Aleisha in the middle of the night.
After all, there had been several incidents in previous years in which Bayard civilians had gone to the wealthy Aleisha area in the middle of the night to commit vandalism and robbery, and that's why the checkpoint was put in place.
For those going from Aleisha to Bayard, it was not as strict. Besides, the bearded man across the street was obviously not the young Omega who had asked to be detained, and the soldiers didnt care much about him.
Luo ZhouZhou felt all over his body and said in annoyance, "Oh no, I was in a hurry and forgot to bring it with me.
"Then you can't pass, go back." The soldier said impatiently.
Luo ZhouZhou stood still, but looked at him pleadingly, with genuine anxiety in his eyes. He repeated. "My aunt is very sick, and I really want to get out."
The soldier looked at the heavy rain outside, then at the bearded man's drenched body, hesitated, and asked, "Is there anyone who can prove your identity?"
Luo ZhouZhou thought about it and gave a string of terminal numbers. The soldier checked it with his portable identifier, and the number belonged to Chief of Staff Lin's house.
"Whose terminal number is this?" The soldier looked at him and asked.
Luo ZhouZhou said, "The son of Chief of Staff Lin's family, I work in his house."
Lin Fan, I'm sorry I used your number. He apologized to Lin Fan in his heart.
When the soldier saw that the information was correct, he said, "Please wait then."
"Okay." Luo ZhouZhou replied.
The soldier walked toward the guard post to call the number for verification.
Luo ZhouZhou let out a long breath the moment he turned around, glanced at the checkpoint's retractable door from the corner of his eye, and slowly approached.
As the soldier stepped into the guard post and picked up the intercom, Luo ZhouZhou was already nimbly moving through the gap in the retractable door and rushing down the street toward Bayard.
"Stop! Someone's breaking through the checkpoint."
"Stop! Stop or we'll shoot."
Luo ZhouZhou ran like a gust of wind, the rain blocking his vision, blurring everything as far as the eye could see, relying only on the streetlights on either side to discern the direction he was running in. The air was full of moisture, and his lungs were filled with a rusty smell. He gritted his teeth and swung his arms in rhythm with the run.
Gradually, he put more and more distance between him and the pursuers behind him. After rushing into a dark alley and then turning into another alley, he finally managed to lose all his pursuers.
Luo ZhouZhou stopped and leaned his back against a wall, putting his hands on his knees and breathing heavily. After his breath settled down, he slowly walked out of the alleyway and onto a street.
In Bayard, on a rainy winter night like this, the street was empty of pedestrians, and all the stores were closed, with only a few neon signs flashing.
Luo ZhouZhou stood at a bus stop, shielded from the overhead rain, to call Chu Feng's terminal. Although Chu Feng was at the border, at this time, he still wanted to hear his voice, to tell him how scared and upset he was, to ask him what he should do now.
And Luo ZhouZhou also wanted to know what was going on? What really happened? 2 His couldnt hit the numbers interface with his trembling hand, so he had to use his voice to recite the numbers he knew by heart.
After a few moments of waiting, a female mechanical voice coldly informed him that there was no signal and he could not be reached at the moment. Luo ZhouZhou settled down and dialled Chen SiHan's number again, but it was the same as with Chu Fengs number, it wouldnt connect.
He wiped the rain off his terminal and went to the streetlight to look. He found that all signals were gone, so it was no wonder that no communication could be made. In the distant rain, two beams of snowy headlights appeared, with the red overhead lights of a cab on top.
Luo ZhouZhou thought about stopping the cab, but after some thought, he withdrew his hand and cautiously ducked behind the stop sign. He waited until the cab sped by, then went around to read the route on the stop sign and memorized it by heart.
According to the route, it was only about ten miles from here back to Chu Feng's house, so he decided to just walk back. Luo ZhouZhou walked down the sidewalk on the main street, his wet pants clinging to his body.
He occasionally met some people who were returning home at night, walking hurriedly with umbrellas, and would look at him strangely twice when they saw him.
Finally, he passed a 24-hour supermarket and went in to buy a raincoat. He hid behind the shelves, lifted off his soaked overcoat, took out his wallet, and went to the checkout counter to pay for it.
"You're soaking wet, aren't you? Hurry home and take a hot bath." The lady at the cashier's desk saw Luo ZhouZhou's whole body shaking and couldn't help but remind him.
"Thank you." He whispered his thanks and silently took the raincoat. He put on his raincoat and hat, wrapped his whole body in it, and walked out of the warm supermarket.
He exhaled as a cold wind and moisture hit his face, then continued walking. An hour later, just as Luo ZhouZhou's hands and feet were freezing to the point of insensibility, familiar streets and houses appeared in front of him.
When he turned right at the end of this road, he was on the street in Chu Feng's neighborhood. He was energized and quickened his pace.
Halfway down the street, he was confronted by a couple holding the same umbrella in the rain and wind, leaning close to each other. As Luo ZhouZhou approached them, he heard the pretty boy complaining, "I told you not to look at the hustle and bustle, look, I'm all wet.
The boy next to him said excitedly, "There was an actual gunfight in the neighborhood, even if it was just the sounds. Before you came, they were fighting in the neighborhood, and then they broke into a building behind them and continued fighting in there. But that sheriff was really brave and took out four or five of them, though he was shot too"
"So is he dead?"
"Not sure, but he went to the hospital"
Luo ZhouZhou stopped in his tracks, his heart beating so hard that it was about to burst out of his throat. On second thought, he picked up his pace again and walked forward.
At the end of the main street, he turned right, praying to himself that it wasnt Chu Feng's neighborhood. And if it was, the injured sheriff would not be Chen SiHan.
As soon as he turned the corner, he saw several police cars parked in front of the neighborhood, with a long cordon on both sides. More than a dozen police officers were busy there, and there were many onlookers with umbrellas, watching and whispering to each other from outside the cordon.
There were a few people looking around in the middle.
Luo ZhouZhou walked straight ahead, pulling his rain hat down over his head to cover half of his face as he approached the block.
The red lights on the police car were flashing, illuminating the fence along the sidewalk. He turned his head slightly to the side and saw seven or eight bodies covered with white cloth lying next to a van, and someone was carrying them to the van.
Luo ZhouZhou calmly passed behind those people, listening to their whispering, and kept moving forward. Only when he had left the entire neighborhood and the noise far behind him did he shiver uncontrollably.
The rain poured down relentlessly, and the streets seemed endless. He didn't know where to go or who to turn to for help. He didn't know what had happened to Luo Pei and Linda, and what could be done to get them out.
Luo ZhouZhou walked aimlessly, hating himself so deeply for the first time for being an Omega and not an omnipotent vampire.
He didn't know how long he had been walking, but his whole body was freezing cold, except for one heart, which was burning like it had fallen into a furnace. He stopped in his tracks and looked at a bank not far away.
The bank was closed, and the steps outside the glass doors were flat and spacious. He walked up the steps, gathered his raincoat, and slowly slid to sit on the ground.
Luo ZhouZhou ducked in again as a wind blew and swept a mist of rain up the steps. His rain-soaked clothes grew damp and cold, and he put his arms around himself, his teeth chattering uncontrollably. He replayed the scene of Luo Pei sitting in the military vehicle in his mind.
He said to him through the window, "Go.
"It's been five months and fifteen days General, I've put up with you for five months and fifteen days Dad, I can actually put up with you a little longer" Luo ZhouZhou buried his head in his thighs, wrapped in his cold, wet pants, and cried.
When he had cried enough, he leaned against the wall, sleepy and tired, and drifted off to sleep.
He didn't know how long he slept, but he felt that the street was completely empty of pedestrians and cars, and all that was left was the sound of pouring rain. Suddenly, he was awakened by a strange sensation in his body while he was sleeping.
It was a wave of heat that slowly spread from his abdomen, penetrating into his limbs and every cell in his body. Luo ZhouZhou remembered this familiar sensation the moment he woke up.
He had experienced it before in the Bayard Police Station.
He was in heat.
