Chapter 39: Boss Fight

Chapter 39: Boss Fight

There is a good explanation as to how Glade was able to beat the general who is thought to be almost on the same level as the Blademaster. The reason being, he asked help from Zeke who just finished constructing a new monster and creating a new set of armor for himself.

The communication device he gave to both Allesiah and Zeke had a feature that allowed him to determine if the two are still alive. And this is why, as he began the fight with General Erio, he rushed to the abandoned house where Zeke is hiding.

Erio followed him of course, bringing out his twin blades, one longer than normal and another that is just a bit longer than a dagger. Erio made his first move by using [Flash Step] the improved version of [Quick Step] which no common warrior could ever react to.

The general swung his longer sword which Glade deflected using his own, but then, a quick stab was made by Erio. Glade spun his body sideways as he dodged this sword but is then met by the knee of the general which hit his stomach.

Glade is thrown by a few meters before using the communication bracelet which he limited only to Zeke.

"You have two options at this point, either you help me out and we beat this general, or we fight in a three-way battle." Glade said.

The general pursued him making a slash which Glade jumped up from. As he did, he aimed for the General's nape which is blocked by the shorter sword.

"This guy has no openings." Glade told himself, not being able to land any attack and mostly being forced to go on the defensive.

"By the way, Gallio's men are now taking over the city as we speak. They've done well thanks to your initial attack and, if you don't help me out, you just might get killed by Gallio as he comes back." Glade said through the communication bracelet again, waiting for Zeke to respond.

After a few more exchanges with General Erio, Zeke finally responded, resolving everything that he needs to accomplish.

"You're not giving me much of a choice are you." At this Samael and another wolf shaped summon came out and intercepted General Erio's attack. The elf backed away, assessing the newly added enemies to the group.

Zeke came out of the house soon after, cloaking his new armor through a bandit costume that he also made. As he came out, he also released his other three generals together with the other conjured monsters.

The newly merged monster is named Lupus. He wasn't able to finish fusing Samael and wolf together hence; he just left the monster as another major conjured monster. The merging failed a bunch of times as the shadow wolves are much stronger than the goblins which he tried to merge.

He doesn't trust Glade. Not one bit. However, he can't pass on the opportunity of possibly converting a level [100+] elf into one of his conjured monsters. He can only do it if he is the one who dealt the finishing blow after all. Plus, to give him resistance over any skill that Glade may use to deceive him, he bought an overpriced [Negative Status Immunity] potion which would last for 30 minutes.

"Don't you think that's a bit of an overkill?' Glade said, looking at the place that is now surrounded by monsters.

General Erio immediately began decreasing their numbers, avoiding about 50 arrows released by Wood Scout archers and cleanly cutting of the heads of his opponents.

"I don't even think they'd be enough." Zeke replied, seeing how fast his monsters are getting beaten down.

General Erio then performed a skill which made him almost disappear from everyone's field of vision and, as he appeared again in the middle of the battlefield, the sound of slashes and dying monsters followed. Now there is nothing left but Zeke's five generals.

"Conjure." Zeke said again, creating his army once more while he held on to small flasks of mana.

"I'm going to limit the area of the battlefield; you do what you can my monsters will assist you." Zeke said, making all of his conjured monsters aim for Erio.

"Gotcha." Glade responded, moving at lightning speed.

Hundreds of arrows flew toward the general which he blocked by planting his sword to the ground and creating wall of earth. The melee then followed, led by Glade who slashed through the wall like it is made of a thin paper sheet.

The wall crumbled but as it did, the general is nowhere to be seen.

"Under!" Zeke shouted, alerting Glade who immediately jumped back from the opponent which rose from the ground.

The attack continued with a skill called [Whip Blade] extending the length of the General's dual sword through wind manipulation.

The sound of the sharp wind crackled all over the battlefield. The onslaught continued, forcing Zeke to call back Samael and defend him as all his conjured monsters met their inevitable end.

Glade also came back with some parts of his armor being damaged but nevertheless looking fine.

"Now I see why you'd want me to help." Zeke said as he drank another set of potions and conjured his monsters once more. Erio repositioned himself, waiting for a chance to strike again.

"So do you have a plan?" Glade said as he dashed to duel with the General. This hindered Erio from using [Whip Blade] again as the melee gave him no room to wind up his arms and make the proper motions for a wide swing.

"Oh you must be itching for me to cook something up." Zeke replied thorough the bracelet. Glade jumped up and created two copies of him who helped in battling Erio.

"Yeah because we'd die if you don't." Was Glade's response.

Zeke had something in mind actually. He doesn't have the leisure of using up his summons over and over again because, he has a limited supply of mana potions. Once that runs out, there'd be no stopping the General's continual assault. Plus, after the duration of his potion ends, Glade would be able to stun or paralyze him again.

"Okay, keep him occupied." Zeke said, as an excited smile crept up his face again.

The plan began as he placed [Poison Cloud] all around the area. He covered a third of the whole capital, drinking up a lot of his mana potions along the way. Then, he placed all his conjured monsters to make a wall, blocking all possible exits. The long-range units are also waiting on nearby roofs with Cull leading the artillery.

"Poison Cloud." Zeke kept repeating the skill, thickening the smoke until one couldn't see anywhere outside the poison.

As he did this, he also provided frontal assault to Erio who may escape if the attackers left any space in between the strikes. The poison kept getting thicker and thicker as it enclosed Glade and Erio, inevitably making them whiff in some of it as they continued battling.

"Wait, let me come out first." Glade said.

"Why should I?" Zeke replied, sealing the center of the fight with 10 layers of poison cloud. The general tried escaping as this went on but, with Zeke getting a clear vision of the whole fight through his minimap, he is able to get an accurate direction for his attacks.

The range of the general's [Slash Strep] also doesn't reach that far. Hence, even if he uses it one time, the monster wall which Zeke created hinders the General from using it again.

"What is this thing!" Erio shouted as the poison began taking effect.

The monsters had no trouble attacking him as the poison does not affect them. All they did is to continue closing in until the enemy is inevitably trapped within the could of poison.

"Hey are you still alive?" Zeke said through his communication bracelet. Glade didn't respond.

"I guess he's dead." He said, taking out newly forged sword as he dove into the poison.

"Hey. That's rude. I'm still alive." Glade responded which didn't come as any surprise to Zeke, knowing how crafty the elf could be.

"Well you better not die before we kill him then."

Zeke may not have any poison resistance skill like he did in the island but, as was mentioned before the fight even began, he bought a potion that prevented any negative status ailment affecting him. He also filled up his mana points before using [Mana Conversion].

Even with all the preparations that Zeke made, he is still no match for Erio who fought back with a rage of blows. The General kept using long range blade skills which instantly killed the weaker monsters of Zeke. However, he kept on respawning them at such a rate that, killing them is not the priority anymore.

Zeke continued moving around, making quick assaults towards the general as he also fired off a couple of [Umbral Slashes]. Glade played a huge part on this, taking in most of the blows made by the General and stepping on almost equal footing with him. The cloud of poison also continued thickening and as it did, the general also showed signs of weakening.

Both Glade and Zeke didn't let this pass and fought relentlessly. It could be said that the general is as strong as a whole army's worth of men. However, he is still all alone. His troops cannot aide him as the Leonis rebels have already began taking over the capital.

The damage individually made to Erio is small. However, no matter how small the damage is, if it keeps adding up, inevitably the enemy would fall. Zeke continued fighting, taking Al's sword as he continued cutting through the General.

Erio would be able to respond from time to time, slicing off a large portion of Zeke's health with a single swing. But with the [Gamer's Body] Zeke doesn't feel an ounce of pain from the attacks. He just hides within the poison and waits for his health to regenerate as he fired off [Umbral Slash] over and over again. Then, as he regains full health, he goes on to combat in melee again.

It took around 20 minutes of relentless attack for the General's health to fall on a critical level and, as this happened, Zeke waited for Glade to make one more slash. This took off the general's right arm immediately followed by Zeke activating [Blood Counter]. He then picked up the general's sword and used it to make a decisive stab to the General's back.

With this, the fight ended and as the poison thinned out, Zeke surrounded Glade with his five generals.
