Chapter 173: Rematch

Chapter 173: Rematch

"Is everyone all set?" Sylph asked looking at the whole group behind her.

They all wore the same equipment; preventing them from intaking any of the [Chaos Poison]. They looked like a bunch of humans from an apocalyptic plague, only that they were the ones who'd actually murder the plague.

"Were done with the formations. You all know where to go right?"

"Yes ma'am!" Was their resounding reply.

Everyone was nervous and excited at the same time. They were nervous because it was another large-scale operation and, a life threatening one at that. Yet they were also excited because they were going to fight head on once again.

The plan was simple enough to follow through. Yet, Sylph wanted to clear something out before she decided to let them all go.

"Quinn are you sure that you can handle it alone?" Sylph asked; with the leader of the elites prepared to dive down.

"Definitely." He replied eyes filled with determination.

The group had only one problem. The number of the elites was not enough to raid all the caves at once. Sylph herself needed to stay outside in order for her to teleport whenever the need arises. It was also a way for her to measure just how long they could stay down the rift as; the outside of the caves had the thickest amount of [Poison].

Then there were the stronger members of the elites including Kaguya, Jake, Gawain, Quinn, and Mirio. Yet they didn't have enough members to deploy to five areas. There were only twenty elites after all. This was when Quinn suggested to let him raid one cave on his own. The first one at that.

Of course, Quinn didn't give this suggestion unprepared. Indeed, the leader of the elites raise a couple of points. All proving that his choice was both sane and logical.

"I know the structure well enough." Quinn began. This was a fact since he came with the first exploration group.

He knew what to expect within the cave. What the terrain held for him and, how to make use of everything for his own advantage. With this he moved to the second point being:

"I have everyone's skills at my disposal." This was undeniably true.

With the skills of all his allies at his disposal, Quinn was already like all the elites in one body. Of course he couldn't use all skills at once. Nevertheless, the point made it safer to assume that he could survive. Quinn then stated his third point:

"My skill can cancel out the skill of the [Boss Monster]." This was the biggest point of all.

Nobody from the exploration group was able to do what Quinn did. He broke the chains made by the enemy allowing him to move freely and fight. Of course the enemy still had a huge supply of these chains but, nevertheless the fact still stood.

"If anyone else comes with me, they may only be casualties as they'd be bound down by those chains." He said, with all his points being both logical an true.

It still sounded too risky but with all that Quinn said, Sylph decided to go along. It was only this that she needed; logical facts to support the seeming madness of Quinn. Yet, she couldn't also help but feel a bit restless. She felt that something has changed with the boy when he woke up. One which was slowly growing inside of him.

Thus, the groupings were finalized. Jake. Mirio. Kaguya. Gawain. These four led the other elites on the remaining four caves. While the first cave was all up to Quinn to finish.

"Under no circumstance are you to continue the mission if you know that you will be put in too much risk. Report to me immediately when things get problematic. I'll help you finish the task." She reminded them, with everyone nodding in agreement.

"Heron are you ready?" Sylph asked, looking at the Dragon Morpher who wore the same equipment as them.

"Oh don't mind me. I'll be able to manage." The Dragon said, with her mental image of the activation range being set.

"Okay. Let's go and finish this mission shall we?" Sylph said, moving closer and closer to the rift until she fell down.

Sylph charged an arrow using her [Infinity Bow] while she descended. There was a trick which she used, allowing her to gather the wind in the area. This pulled most of the poison to her as it served as a kind of vacuum. In fact, it was so strong that even the elites were getting sucked in.

"Which side is she on!" Jake exclaimed, planting his javelin on the ground in order to avoid getting pulled.

Then, upon reaching the ground, Sylph released it from her bow. This created a gust of wind so strong that, it divided the cloud of poison in half. All blowing upwards where everyone was ready. The elites had purifying crystals on their hands, sucking up all the poison and effectively clearing the rift.

"How strong is she." Red exclaimed, finally witnessing Sylph get serious.

"I think she's a lot stronger than you think." Julia said in reply as they all looked at the [Minimap].

It was clear as day. They could see all the red dots below the rift signifying the no part of it was covered by the poison. Aside from this, most of the monsters have been dealt with by Sylph's first shot. But things didn't end there.

"Two." She said; firing again.

The second arrow contained just as much force as the first one. Wind itself seemed like a furry of blades that ripped the monsters to shreds. This cleared out the remaining monsters which amazed the elites even more. Yet Sylph didn't allow them time to applaud her as she commanded:

"Now!"

With this the elites all teleported down. The trick Sylph used could only be used once. They didn't have any more [Purifying Crystals] to use anymore. With the attack done by Sylph, she at least extended the time they could last by a couple of minutes. But this also placed a huge strain on her arm which had the poison running up.

"Shit that stings." She said; countering it immediately.

She was once injected with some dark mana after all. So much so that her body was not foreign to corruption. Hence, the [Chaos Poison] didn't damage her as much as it should. Only giving her arm an immense amount of pain while she destroyed every ounce of the poison.

"I didn't think you had it in you." Heron said, amazed on Sylph's display.

"Shut up." Was all that the elf archer said; smiling with the mission flowing just as she planned.

As for the elites, they immediately went inside the caves designated to them. With the poison cleared up, they had no troubles getting there. Every group had a way to illumine the path in front of them. Zane used his fire spell and so did Merlin. Zilg used traps containing flashbangs that allowed his team to have vision of the map ahead using their [Minimap] while also blinding the monsters there momentarily. Then Horus had [Lightbugs], literal creatures which shone as bright as day.

As for surprise attacks, each team had a defender ready. They all had barriers set up around them; preventing any surprise attacks from being made. Aside from this, they had a balance of melee, range and support.

Every monster they came in contact with met their unfortunate end. There was no enemy too great for every group which had each other's back. In fact, they moved even quicker than expected. Clearing out parts of the cave one by one and destroying the monsters along the way.

This was largely due to the fact that they leveled up a lot. It was a fact that Zeke actually gave them this mission for this specific goal. He wanted them to get stronger while also preventing them from encountering any danger. With the amount of experience they harvested, the enemies were nothing to them anymore. In fact, it was so easy for Jake that he activated the [Voice Chat] and issued a challenge.

"Hey guys, let's see who'll get to the finish line fastest."

"Seriously Jake?" Eerie said, not liking the idea one bit.

"I'm in." Quinn simply said, closing of the [Voice Chat] and continuing to move forward.

He was the only member who didn't have anything with him. He had no defender to create a barrier. No ally to provide light. No person to fire range attacks. He was all by himself and it was probably because of this that Quinn began showing another side of him. One which never came out before.

"Come on now, don't be shy." He said, using Amare's [Vision] skill in order to see through the dark. He didn't bother bringing any torches anymore or any item that could tell his enemies that he was already there. He swiftly moved through the darkness with all physical enhancements active.

Aside from this, Kaguya's Darkness Veil served as a perfect camouflage. This together with Curio's [Shadow Step] prevented his presence from being felt as he killed the monsters swiftly and effectively.

One. Two. Three. Quinn counted the number of checkpoints which he passed through the minimap. With every boss monster getting destroyed through attacks on their weak points. Quinn still refused to destroy the cave. Wanting it to be part of his accomplishment. He wanted to finish in the fastest and most perfect way possible.

This continued on for at least ten minutes. Upon which, Quinn finally reached the area where the boss monster was. The one which sullied his pride and made him retreat. The one which he needed to take down in order to redeem himself.

"There you are." He said, getting eyes that glowed through the darkness. A bright violet stone floated on top of the monster's staff revealing its half its body. With a gleeful expression plastered on the monster's face. As if telling Quinn that he had no chance of winning.

"Don't worry. This won't be anything like the last time."
