Chapter 167: A Dangerous Silhouette
Chapter 167: A Dangerous Silhouette
The mission was about to be completed. In fact, everything went smoothly just as Zeke planned them. The citizens were all evacuated safely. This was done by Heron who carried the citizens using her elegant dragon form. It was still gigantic but, there was elegance on the dragon which also spoke to them. She then took them all to safe areas, where the soldiers couldn't reach them.
Then there were the barriers. With these set up, no attack came surprising them from the skies. Furthermore, the barrier also served to stop any of the hostiles who tried getting away.
The [Chaos Dragons] were mostly defeated by Horizon and Kayle. With their [Undying Fury] being activated; the poor [Chaos Dragons] stood no chance against them.
Then there was also the fact that, all the strongholds within Elysium got destroyed.
The last part was largely due to the efforts of Zeke and his newly bought skill. Both Heron and Morpheus couldn't believe how the skill worked at first. But as soon as Zeke used it, the two were nothing less than amazed.
It was a power which seemed to be too much for a mortal. One which made the gamer, Zeke Elwood, seem like a divinity himself.
Zeke didn't need to be there. He didn't need to command the soldiers. They marched all on their own. They knew quite clearly who their opponents were. They knew where to march and where to point their weapons. Hence, they continued fighting non - stop. Doing the mission ever so swiftly. Destroying fortress after fortress which lasted for a whole day.
Indeed, the conquering of Elysium was almost complete. With only one thing remaining on the list of concerns. That is, Zeke's confirmation of his victory against the count.
"What's taking him so long?" Heron thought to herself, reverting back to her human form. She stayed with the citizens. Placing [Cloud of Dreams] on the area, just enough to make them feel safe and secured.
"I'm sure his mission is about to end." Morpheus said in reply. Killing another soldier with his tentacle-transformed arm. There were spikes all around it, each with its tip coated in poison.
Indeed, both were eager to hear from their master. Then, at that very moment, Zeke finally contacted them. Their [Voice Chat] opened up. With Zeke's name on top of the mic icon.
"Master!" Heron greeted, worried because Zeke took longer than he said.
"Oh hey guys." Zeke replied casually.
"Daddy! How did the fight go? Di you kill him?" Morpheus asked, eager to hear of Zeke's latest battle.
"Of course I did. Who do you think you are talking to?" Said the gamer who had the sound of his footsteps on the background.
"Thank goodness." Heron replied, with a smile on her face.
"I'm guessing everything also ran smoothly on your end." Zeke continued, wanting updates from the two.
"Yes. We've completed our tasks without any problems. Largely due to the [Conjures] which distracted and killed most of the enemies on the Continent."
"Yeah! They went SWOOSH! Then BAM! Then POW! Those ugly soldiers didn't even know what to do anymore." Morpheus energetically commented.
"Well that's good. I'm just about ready to leave here too. Let's meet at sundown on the Elven forest." Zeke told them, glad that his comrades were fine.
"Roger!"
With this, their [Voice Chat] closed. The three continued to performing their tasks. It wasn't finished yet. Both Morpheus and Heron began this. With the [Dragon Morpher] instructing the village and town elders. While Morpheus was busy cleaning up the corpses left behind. Then there was Zeke who've just finished acquiring his new [Conjure].
[Name: Kezel]
[Species: Arch Human Monarch]
[Specification: Conjured]
[Rank: A+]
These were the stats shown by Zeke's fallen enemy. The first thing Zeke noticed was the change in the name.
"It's probably the real name of the person he used for the experiment." Zeke told himself, pitying whoever it was that wore his face.
[Kezel] had a dark purple mana which was used to construct him. Entailing that it was also an evolved [Conjure]. All Zeke's creatures which have evolved do not have the blue color of mana constructing their bodies. This made it easier for Zeke to distinguish them as the system never mentions if the rank was that of an evolved one or not.
"So you're an evolved conjure huh." Zeke looked at the creature which had a striking resemblance to his human form. It was an old vessel, one he discarded unwillingly.
"Well, your evolved rank also means another thing." He said, with the notification popping up.
[Alert: The conjure can only be used once the gamer has reached level 100]
"Yeah I figured as much." Zeke told himself, knowing that the [Kezel] will enter the same state as [Samael].
He then dismissed the summon. There was no point in keeping it active until the [Trial Period] runs out just like on [Samael's] case. No enemy was left on Elysium. It was a successful operation that led to the complete and utter victory of Zeke Elwood.
Yet things were not finished yet. The Count's words were engraved on his head. One which entailed that, he would get more knowledge on what truly transpired. This information could be found on the Count's very own castle. One which Zeke decided to go next.
"There's still time before sundown." Zeke said, using [Teleportation] to get to the capital immediately.
The gamer has faced countless trials upon reaching Mythos. He has faced creatures of various levels, with all of these proving to be difficult opponents. He has even squared off with the strongest warrior during the 1,000 years war, Gallio Leonis. And, he even faced the goddess of the hunt; Yaeger.
Hence one would expect that, nothing would raise his alarm anymore. Yet, at that moment he did. All his senses were telling him to back away as he reached further and further within [Kezel's] castle. There was no word which could describe it. The feeling was so foreign because he didn't understand where it came from.
"Well if it's going to be like this. I might as well use a spell to conceal my identity." He thought to himself.
Zeke created a clone. One which he then placed armor over and increased the muscle mass. This clone was going to be used by Zeke to enter the castle and retrieve all the documents there. Of course he could go himself and disregard his body's warning. But the gamer knew better than to take this gamble.
"Go inside and finish up quickly. I don't feel good about this." Zeke told his clone. He was connected to it through [Video Log], allowing him to see all that his clone saw. Yet not risking any chance of him getting exposed.
The clone simply nodded at Zeke as it proceeded inside. Through the dark halls lit by torches. Within the corridors that held no life. It was a dim place; eerily quiet. Zeke didn't feel any haunting or chilling fright. He just didn't like the place and the alarm his body was raising against it.
"There. That's probably the place." Zeke told the clone which opened the door to all truths held on Mythos.
It was more than what he hoped for. With hundreds of scrolls. Flasks. Specimens within giant crystals. Dismantled body parts. Runes. Gems. Everything was there, a wide assortment of things which he has yet to naturally find on Mythos. And on the Gamer's map, there was a title, revealing what the area was actually named.
[Gallio Leonis' Research Facility]
"Look at you." He said, smiling from nervousness as a bead of cold sweat dropped from his forehead.
He still didn't understand why his body was reacting the way it was. But the gamer already began taking the items within the room. Storing all the data as his clone read the scrolls while it also touched the items to be transported to Zeke's inventory. Then, something happened. One which made Zeke understand why his body was so against going inside.
A figure appeared out of the shadows of the room. It was a faint image. A silhouette of pure darkness. It cut of the clone's arms and legs with ease. Leaving it on the ground as the perpetrator stood there amused.
"Oh dear. And here I thought nobody would have the nerve to trespass this place." The figure said, with a deep tone that sounded a lot of deceit.
Zeke felt relieved that he wasn't there. He could feel it, even without standing on the clone's place. Even with all the powers he attained. It wasn't an opponent that he could defeat. None of his tricks. None of his methods. None of his conjures nor equipment would work. It was like a Roman general, surrounded by the barbarians from all sides before the city fell to ruins.

"On all my years of existence, I've seen various stupidity done by you mortals. But this, by far, is at the top of the list." The figure continued, looking intently at the clone.
[Alert! The Gamer's Mind has been bypassed by the unknown entity. You are now under the effects of terror.]
It felt weird. Zeke couldn't dismiss his clone, as if the silhouette was directly staring at him. And what made him even more frightened was the [System] itself. Telling how the silhouette shattered his [Gamer's Mind].
"Ahhof course you'd be hiding from me. Mortals fear what they cannot understand. Especially if it is something holding much more power than they. Isn't that rightZeke."
At that moment Zeke seemed to be petrified. He saw the enemy smiling at him. He knew it. He knew that the enemy could see him. With its eyes gleaming in a twisted violet shade. Gleefully looking at the gamer.
With all the muscles on his body, Zeke forced the clone to be destroyed. He then teleported, away from the enemy which knew his name.
He went to the shores, breathing heavily and sweating profusely. At that moment, he felt human again. He felt ever so mortal, like a candle light about to go out; and he did. With the sound of waves crashing on the shore Zeke fell unconscious.
