The Gamer's System

Chapter 150: Ending the Dream

Chapter 150: Ending the Dream

[For purposes of not getting confused, the Zeke which appeared as an illusion will be referred to as Clone.]

Unknown to the adult Zeke, his two other selves actually encountered the same problem. While they went and gathered intel, they were also injected with the same serum and, for some reason, this caused all of them to merge into one again.

Hence, his whole appearance went back to being Keith's. But that didn't help for anything. He was still in the presence of two strong enemies. Zeke thought how he could actually take them down but, he first needed to act. He needed to show Glade how weak he was.

"NOOO! GET AWAY FROM ME!" Zeke began, putting up an act perfectly. He let tears and snot both run down his nose. It was disgusting of course but he needed to show that he was incapable of anything.

Glade snaped his fingers and the scenery changed to the area where he and Gallio fought. It was a nostalgic scene which brough back a lot of unwanted memories. But he kept up his act, kneeling on the ground and begging for forgiveness as Gallio activated [Ultimate Berserker] while the Clone released [Poison Cloud] and a whole group of [Conjures].

Zeke stood up and tried running away. He then tripped intentionally and, although he didn't want to, he peed his pants. This all made him look weaker and more pathetic than he actually was. The scene caused Glade to lose interest altogether.

At first, Glade came because there was someone who entered within the head of his beloved toy. But seeing the sorry state of this person now told him that, aside from entering, the intruder was incapable of anything else.

"Look, don't take it personally. I don't; hold any grudges for you kid. But I've got a kingdom to run and these two sure as hell won't be losing to you. So, enjoy the torture while it lasts because, it definitely would." Glade said, finally leaving the scene.

Gallio and Clone immediately went for Zeke who began standing up. His composure went back to normal and, there was a lot of rage built-up which, unfortunately for the illusions, would be the ones receiving the beating.

"Sorry guys. But I need to go back quickly."

There were two things which Glade failed to put into consideration. Or rather, these were things which he was not aware of because Zeke's true identity was not revealed.

One was that Zeke also had something which could function as a skill. It was [Subconscious]. The same trick he uses upon sleeping which could effectively multiply the number of hours he could use although only a single minute passes in the real world. Through this, Zeke could slow down time so significantly that, only he would be able to move properly.

"Subconscious." He commanded, turning the terrain to his advantage.

There were glitches which appeared and, the [Gamer's System] finally went back online. He didn't understand how the whole thing worked exactly but, it seemed that the domain of [Subconscious] would always permit him to use the system no matter the predicament.

Furthermore, even with the serum injected, Zeke's [Gamer's Mind] would immediately counteract it. Since the skill could prevent any mind breaking or altering effects, Zeke immediately began filtering the drug. His [System] automatically began downloading the data of all the components of the drug. This was transferred immediately to Heron to ensure that no [Data Loss] would occur.

"Well, the good news is, he still thinks I'm going to die." Zeke said, finally walking towards the opponents which seemed to freeze in place.

Looking back, he and Gallio were probably the strongest beings in Mythos back then. A lot of things have changed from that point onwards however, especially with Zeke who not only improved but reached heights which defied the rules of being a mortal.

"I know that I won't be dealing that much damage to you guys so I'm going to be borrowing these obsolete things." Zeke told Clone, taking the old version of [Death's Void] from his hands.

"Don't worry. I won't make you guys suffer for long." Zeke went for their vitals, stabbing them both in the hearth while also placing one bullet on each for good measure. He also hacked their head open and even slit their necks. He stabbed the spine to make them limp which finished the deed.

"I know that I've always wanted to kill myself but I didn't know it would be this satisfying." Zeke told himself seeing his old body in such a sorry state. Then, he finally made time move back to normal.

His enemies immediately fell on the ground, with their blood spraying all over the place. All the skills used by the Clone got dissolved, leaving Zeke wit nothing to worry about at the moment. Hence, he activated [Subconscious] again, allowing him to access the [Gamer's System]. He wanted to make sure that the [Data Transfer] was completed.

[Information: All data has been successfully stored and sent to Heron. Data has also bene stored on the internal memory of the System and can be accessed anytime.]

"Okay. That settles everything then. Let's clean these guys up before I move on with the plan." Zeke activated [Gamer's Mind] which allowed him to process the formula for the solution while he also made sure to leave no traces.

Even with Glade changing the environment, Zeke was technically still within Sylph's dream. And so, he probably still had access to certain parts of it so, with the white key still on his pocket, he tried to find the way back to Sylph's stronghold.

This also didn't take much time. With his [Minimap] being enabled again, Zeke was able to get in-depth information about the terrain. And this included the area of the transport. He got there immediately using [Shadow Dive] and, soon enough, Zeke was back to the pantry.

"First of all, I need to clean you guys up."

Zeke actually brought the corpses of both his Clone and Gallio. He couldn't risk leaving them there as they may be a form of evidence. So, he threw them inside the cauldron and stirred it until they looked like nothing more than cooked meat. Of course, he also had to strain all the clothes, hair, bones and other parts. These things were placed on the trash can.

"Now for the next order of business. System give me an update on the countermeasure."

[Information: Since the gamer is within the mind of the target, he can effectively tamper with some parts in order to reverse the effects of the poison. There would be no side effect as long as the data destroyed is effectively replaced with something else.]

"Just as I thought." Zeke told himself, realizing that the process would be a lot similar to illegally getting software by replacing some data with cracked ones.

Zeke proceeded to getting all the keys hidden by the mannequin who turned out to be Sylph all along. Now that this was revealed everything made sense. It should only be the dream owner who holds that many keys which and, with Zeke being able to use [Analysis] he saw that the mannequin was actually the real Sylph.

"So, the question now lies on who it is that I've been administering the drug to." Zeke made time move again. The female mannequin head was placed on the cauldron, preventing it from taking over again. Zeke also stripped down Sylph's clothes which might also hold some restraints over her.

Of course he needed to look to effectively do this. And its not like he did anything perverted because it was for a just cause. Plus, there weren't any unnecessary touching involved and he even clothed her again with something in his inventory for good measure.

"Just get some sleep. I need to deal with your doppelganger." Zeke said, proceeding upstairs and, seeing that his guess was right on the money. On the head of the bedridden Sylph, there was a sign that said [False Memory Sylph].

"That's a very descriptive title you got going there." Zeke said, not having any trouble because time was slowed down.

He used [Analysis] on the room but unfortunately, there was nothing there that could help him claim back Sylph's proper place. It wasn't like the false Sylph couldn't be destroyed. It was just that, he needed to find a way to swap their places without creating any damage. Then, he remembered it.

"AHHHHH THE HEAD!" He took the [False Memory Sylph] back to the pantry and made her wear the maid's outfit. Aside from this, he immediately took out the head from the cauldron. There were some slight burns but, it wasn't that bad.

He placed the head over the [Fake's] making the made mannequin be completed once again. Then, Zeke worked on altering the mana constituting the serum. Now it only had the effect of blanking out the target, being able to fulfill only a single command.

He injected this to the maid and, gave the command of [Serve as the Head Maid]. Which was successfully integrated as noted by the [System Notification].

[Notification: This dream has been cleared. True memory has been restored.]

Then, with that being cleared out, Zeke proceeded to taking the real Sylph down the spiraling staircase. He also brought the keys with him because, he had a hunch that it would be needed on the area he was going. Unlike the first time, Zeke didn't have a difficulty going down. In fact, in not less than a minute, he reached the bottom.

"Illumination." Zeke chanted, allowing him to see a clearer view of the area to which he commented:

"Jackpot."

On the dream stronghold's basement, all the doors were once again present. And this time, Zeke had access to all of them thorough his keys. He proceeded to entering every dream and clearing out the fakes within them. All 100 doors were handled by Zeke and, upon completing the final one, Zeke was given a notification which told him:

[All information on Sylph Windsprite's database has been cleared from any foreign entities. Data has been completely restored and verified.]

"Okay. I guess that means I can go back now." Zeke finally said, returning back to the world of the living where Sylph awaited him.
