Chapter 102: Back From the Grave
Chapter 102: Back From the Grave
While the Elites are doing their best to fight against their remaining enemy, the strange hooded figure has once again made his presence felt. As soon as the fight began in the farm, he also went his way to the bases of both generals. In fact, during the time when the mist covered the battlefield, he has already reached the second base. Leaving his summons to finish the job on the first base.
"Your king actually did a pretty decent job of equally dividing the forces." He complemented, seeing how the number of defenses on both fortresses seem to be the same.
There are soldiers remaining on both camps but, this didn't matter much as he completely overpowered them. Around fifty soldiers marched to greet him with their steel and, he accepted their invitation gladly.
The whole group got blinded by a flash of lightning that only lasted for a second. But, as it disappeared, they saw how the attacking soldiers all had their lower bodies completely destroyed, with the earth below them getting scorched by the same attack.
They couldn't believe their eyes. But as soldiers, they stood their grounds and fought. The hooded figure was amazed at their resolve but knew that it wouldn't last for long. He continued by killing them one by one, making sure that they witness how the heads of their subordinates are getting torn of as he pulled them straight off using his bare hands. The spines would sometimes come with this, making the scene even more grotesque.
"Save us!" Were the words screamed by one of the soldiers. This sentiment is shared by all soldiers who screamed the same words in their head. After all, there's no logical explanation as to how a thousand soldiers are overpowered by a single intruder.
"Keep quiet, you're going to wake up the neighbors." He said, moving around the fortress without much worry. Some archers and mages tried hitting him using a long-ranged attack but, even though these hits, no damage seem to have been made to the enemy. In fact, he only grinned at them as their visions went upside down their heads twisted by summons which appeared behind them.
He didn't go to their fortress out of a whim. The reason why he did is actually because of two agendas. One is finding more information about an ancient magic while, the other is something he has finally stumbled upon.
"Ahhh there it is." He continued, finally reaching the portal. On the first fortress, finding it was a lot easier. The structure of that place is so straightforward, telling him how their leader is probably a simpleminded individual.
The portal glows a dark color, making it seem like a portal to another dimension. Soldiers are supposed to be stationed on the area for deployment. But because of the sudden intrusion, they all went to fight with the hooded individual.
Unknown to Quinn and the elites, their enemies are actually summoning more troops through the portal. This is the reason why Amare only saw a handful of soldiers together with the general. They didn't want to raise too much alarm and, as they can spawn the portal anywhere, they figured it would be best to rally more troops once they get closer to the farm and assess the whole situation.
"Stop!" The guards shouted, five in all. They are stationed around the portal making their intruder a bit surprised.
"Let's see. An Archmage. A Spearman. A Healer. And two Vanguards. Not a bad lineup guys." He said cockily; bringing out his weapon which weirded out the guards. It seems to be a blade type weapon with a weird shaped handle.
He made his way immediately, dashing towards the five guards. But unlike his initial presumption, they are actually more prepared than the soldiers of the first fortress.
Suddenly, the earth shook and a giant wall of steel came up from nowhere. The hooded figure backed off as he looked at the towering height of the defensive wall they summoned.
"So its connected to the fortress." He thought to himself as he analyzed the sturdy looking wall.
"How do you like that?" The guards said proudly; actually skipping a beat from the idea that their enemy may just be able to break through the all with ease.
"Not bad." Was his short response as he began dodging the spikes that extended from the wall. The thrusts came one after the other in quick succession, making him back off more and more. The guards saw this through the small openings provided for their sight, rejoicing on how the enemy could easily be defeated.
The Archmage guard assisted by using seven [Shadow Spheres] which shocked the hooded figure. The smile on his face washed away and, there is only a neutrality shown on it now. With his enemies laughing and, with him almost reaching the wall of the room, he finally made an attack. Firing from both of his weapons, catching the enemies off guard with the thought that it is only a melee weapon.
The force of the blast was enough to create a huge hole through the wall. The guards looked at the portal; glad that it is still intact. But, with the hand of the enemy coming through the wall, their emotions suddenly shifted to fear.
They all did their best to hold him back. The healer minimized the damage done to the two vanguards while, the spearman safely attacked from behind. The combination itself could only be described as top grade as, they flawlessly executed their movements without missing a single beat.
Adding to the danger of this combination are the spells of the Archmage. He continued using [Shadow Spheres] and while he did, he also placed elemental buffs on all weapons of the guards. Yet, even with all of this, their hooded enemy dodged effortlessly.
This continued on for a few more minutes. Until, by a stroke of luck, the spearman was able to land a hit on him revealing someone which shocked them.
"A boy?" The vanguard said, shocked at the young man hiding beneath the hood.
His eyes are a crimson red while his hair is a silvery white. He has dominating aura of Gallio while, most of his other features resemble Sylvia. The surprise in itself was enough to put a lag on their movements and, their enemy did not miss this opportunity to finally end the fight.
He summoned three creatures at the same time and moved quickly all over the battlefield. They saw no skills being used aside from the intimal summoning skill. Now they are facing monster like creatures which has blue mana flowing out of them. With the added distraction, they found it even more difficult to focus on their main enemy,
He moved quicker and quicker until only afterimages of the boy are left for them to follow. They got hit once, twice, over and over again. It's as if their enemy is simply toying with them and not taking them seriously at all. This angered the spearman who used his ultimate skill, releasing a thousand thrusts in a single second.
The young man danced through the thrusts of the spear - not even breaking a single sweat. His face remained static all throughout this, with boredom completely painted on it. The vanguards continued on by also using their ultimate move. Creating two copies of the same wall but, smaller in width. The walls began closing in on him while the Archmage focused his ultimate skill on the space in between, where their enemy is trapped. He released a beam of light so wide and quick that, not even a general could get out unscathed.
Adding to this is the spearman who climbed on top of the wall as he repeated his ultimate skill - his arm bleeding from the forced repetition of it. Then, after their combination ended, everyone fell to the ground from exhaustion. There is rubble and dust covering the location of their enemy and, while they wanted to stay on guard, the skills they sued were more taxing on their bodies than they thought.
They called for their healer immediately. With this member's ultimate skill, they could be restored to fighting shape in a split second. But, as they looked at where their teammate stands, all they saw was a pool of blood as the summoned creatures feasted on the healer's flesh.
"No it can't be!" Their Archmage shouted, knowing full well what the image meant.
More than their healer getting massacred right in front of them, the sight of the summons meant that their enemy is still alive. This sent the cold winds of death running through their veins, feeling the end coming nearer and nearer by instinct.
They heard his footsteps but could do nothing else. They wanted to move their bodies but, there is just no energy left for them to expend. Then, out of the dust came the young man, still unscathed from all that they did.
"I was having fun until you used these things." He said, holding on to a [Shadow Sphere] which made absolutely no sense to the Archmage because, [Shadow Spheres] are supposed to damage anything it touches.
"I'm going to use that portal to go where your general is." He continued and, even before one of their vanguards could object, he gave such a dominating glare that, the bulky soldier couldn't make any voice come out.
"You guys won't last long. But because you reminded me of a certain bunch of people, I'm going to at least reward you with my name." He continued, pointing his weapon on the enemies.
"Carry it to hell." He fired his weapons as he said:
"Zeke Elwood."
