Chapter 1587: Competition for Assistant(2)

Uzoma couldn't help but frown when she saw what her son was doing, but when she saw her husband, she couldn't help but smile.

Emeka's actions might seem great for defending the invasion, but they were pushing the populace toward mental breakdown. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Time flew by, and a hundred years passed in the blink of an eye.

Emeka looked energized as his policies had worked well. The fighting capabilities of the people had grown severalfold, while the technology tree had also followed that kind of growth.

In the fiftieth year of the Emergency Act, the researchers succeeded in developing an energy shield with the capability of defending against air bombs.

It was the strongest weapon the empire had at that time, and as its name suggested, it destroyed the atmosphere after the explosion.

After fifty more years of research, the defensive capability of the shield had grown strong enough to survive a star explosion at blank range.

Even though it put the Empire on the verge of bankruptcy, Emeka had a feeling that if he survived this, the reward would be worthwhile.

The people with numb eyes woke up early in the morning and were ready to repeat their numbing schedule when suddenly alarms rang all over the world.

The dead eyes woke up at that moment as the moment they had been waiting for arrived. Their lives over the past century had been nothing less than tortuous, so they couldn't wait to die fighting against the aliens or win and finally return to their cheerful lives.

"Kneel down and lick my feet!"

A disdainful voice filled with majesty rang in the ears of every living being on the planet. The voice was quite familiar to the people since they would hear demeaning words from time to time through the real-time channel of communication and the alien's approach.

The people's eyes turned cold, and they angrily yelled in response. At that moment, a blinding light emerged in the eyes as the sky was engulfed in golden light.

The next moment, the entire planet began to shake, but at that moment, the energy barrier covered the entire planet in no time and stood strong against the energy beam released by one of the ships.

"Haha, ants are trying to resist!"

The next moment, all the ships released their recharged energy beam, and the planet began to shake even harder.

Emeka looked through it with indifference. He then ordered the people to get ready to fight.

Simple defense wasn't going to save the planet from the invasion. Their energy was bound to be exhausted, and at that time, and then they would be at the mercy of enemies.

Even though the research period was completely focused on strengthening the defenses, there were still some gains in offensive weaponry.

The planet's population has grown three times in the past century, with the number reaching eight hundred billion. Out of it, around six hundred billion were eligible to fight.

The planet didn't lack people to throw, so ships were ready to take off one group after another.

The enemy ships were charging for more than a thousand years, so it took quite a while to exhaust that attack. Once it was over, the energy shield was in disarray, unable to be activated if the enemy could repeat an attack with the same intensity.

The people also knew it, so the battle began. Fortunately for Emeka, the enemy didn't have the capability of repeating an attack of that intensity. They still had powerful weapons, but everything fell short in the face of the several hundred billion strongman army willing to sacrifice their lives.

The war spanned across several years, and in the end, the planet successfully defended itself from the invasion under Emeka's leadership. It was time to reap rewards, and as he had the feeling, it was way more than what he had spent over the past century.

The enemies seemed to be the last remnant of a civilization that was running away from a terrible war. The resources they brought with them could power the planet for several millennials and take its technology tree to an unprecedented height.

When Emeka showed the blueprints and other technical resources to the researchers, even the most pessimist one told him that the Empire's attacking capability would become powerful enough to obliterate a solar system in a single attack.

Emeka and others couldn't help but breathe sighs of relief. The enemies seemed nobodies, but they had treasures. If they were capable, the result would have been something else.

Emeka removed the Emergency Act since it was no longer needed, but the war seemed to have removed the dam blocking the raging river.

People seemed to have become violent, and since Emeka was their second hated being after the aliens, they directed that feeling at him.

A new clash began on the planet between Emeka's army and the people baying for his blood. The war was cruel, but Emeka succeeded in winning. The victory came at a heavy cost, as the world was in ruin.

Two centuries passed in the blink of an eye. The world seemed still far from reaching its past peak, let alone growth, with the help of the blueprints they got from the aliens. But it was slowly moving toward a positive road.

And at that moment, another terrible news came. The planet was facing another invasion, but due to the loss of satellites in the war, they found it too late, and the enemies would reach them in a decade at most.

The second enemy was not only more powerful than the last one but also had bigger fleets of ships. Emeka faced the same issue and decided to put the planet into the Emergency Act. He couldn't fear the repeat of the civil war when the enemy was right beside his door.

The people immediately rioted, as there were many people who remembered what they had to go through the last time due to their long lifespans. People were more willing to die than return to that life again. As a result, Emeka was killed in a revolution.

A decade later, when the enemy arrived, the entire planet was subjugated and enslaved.
