The Female Taoist Priestess’s Childhood Sweetheart Is a Male CEO

Chapter 14: I invite you to see a free fireworks

Chapter 14

He Qingchen took out his phone and sent Xu Yan a message, arranging for a designer to come tomorrow to redecorate Jian Xi's room according to her preferences.

After sending the message to Xu Yan, he made a call and gave a couple of instructions before hanging up, feeling uneasy upstairs. He rushed up the stairs with big steps.

Sure enough, he bumped into Jian Xi right at the stair landing.

She was wearing a bathrobe, holding two bottles in her hands with her hair still dripping water. "Brother, these two bottles have English all over them o(╥_╥)o I don't recognize them."

"The blue one is shampoo and the white one is shower gel," He Qingchen explained to her. Glancing down, he saw her fair bare feet without slippers.

It was just entering spring and the floor was very cold. Back in the Taoist temple, they would take off their shoes and socks as soon as they returned to their rooms. The winter in City Z was very cold but all rooms had floor heating, so the floors would not be icy. City B was different. Although the winters were not cold, the floors were still very cool.

It seemed that wall-to-wall carpeting would also need to be arranged for the whole house tomorrow.

He Qingchen shook his head helplessly. Did he owe her in his past life that he could give her unlimited indulgence when it came to her?

He bent down and picked her up horizontally. His tone was completely devoid of any blame, but rather a little helpless. "That's because you didn't learn English well back then."

"When I see those letters my head hurts. Even the Duke of Zhou would come to play with me. What could I do?" As if recalling something, Jian Xi craned her neck and said, "Now there's the translation function on mobile phones. I can understand them without learning English."

He Qingchen glanced at her. "So you know about this?"

Jian Xi looked awkward. "Hehe, back in City Z I gave a fortune telling for a foreigner before."

He Qingchen laughed. Giving fortune telling to foreigners? He asked, "Did you trick him?"

"I don't think I tricked him. He wasn't looking at physiognomy anyway, he just asked which direction he would have good luck or fortunes. I flipped two copper coins and told him the result after divining, so it wasn't a trick." Jian Xi explained.

If that foreigner had asked for face or palm reading, or eight characters, then she might have tricked him!

He put her down at the bathroom door of her bedroom. "Go take a bath quickly and remember to blow dry your hair after shower."

"Got it, Mother He!"

He Qingchen, now dubbed Mother He, heard her start to hum a tune from inside. He added, "The hair dryer is in the drawer under the sink."

"I know!"

Only then did Mother He feel assured to leave her bedroom.

Fortunately there were only the two of them here. If there was one more person, they would all think He Qingchen was possessed!

How was this still that notorious Underworld Emperor of City B? This was simply Mother He incarnate, no no, Father He!

He Qingchen himself was not unaware of this, but there was no way around it. He had been used to taking care of her since she was little, and some actions had become subconscious. Even with those four years of no contact between them at all!

Such was the horror of habits. Even if the relationship was severed, the instincts still remained.

After her bath, Jian Xi came out of the bathroom and obediently blow-dried her hair. She took out her glyph drawing tools and sat down to start drawing glyphs.

Although her brother didn't say exactly what had happened to his grandfather, she felt that this matter was absolutely not simple. Also, his bodyguards were all armed, which meant he was in great danger now, or taking that recuperation break in the Taoist temple had been a desperate measure back then!

She had to make preparations in advance. No matter what kind of monsters and demons wanted to harm him, she would not let them succeed!

After drawing glyphs for two hours, her desk was already full. She stopped drawing and started sorting them into categories.

Many of them were her own creations. Some were research results from deciphering the lost arts in the ancient manuals left behind by their ancestors. The remaining small portion were commonly seen ones in the market now.

She stuffed her small bag full. Jian Xi felt it necessary to properly research the storage glyph in the ancient manual. Once she figured it out, she would ask her brother to “gift” her a piece of uncarved jade. She would carve the glyph on the jade to make a storage bracelet which would definitely be very convenient.

As for all that money her brother had spent on her, she would pay him back after getting married and breaking her damnable fortune.

With great difficulty, she managed to zip up the small bag. Jian Xi was also tired. She went to bed, turned off the lights and fell asleep in one smooth motion!

Drawing glyphs would still consume some mental strength, so Jian Xi soon fell asleep.

Not long after she fell asleep, her room door was opened.

He Qingchen, now changed into a fresh set of clothes, came to the bedside and looked at the soundly sleeping Jian Xi, the corner of his lips curving up.

From now on, he would not be alone anymore. The little girl had come back to his side again!

He saw that Jian Xi was properly covered by her blanket before leaving.

He didn't return to his own bedroom, but went outside Pleasant View Creek Garden instead.

A black luxury car was already waiting there.

He got into the car and said to the driver in front, "Let's go."

Half an hour later, He Qingchen stood outside a villa in the suburbs, calling He Bohuai via video call on his phone.

It rang for a while on the video side before it was picked up.

He Qingchen smiled and said, "Good evening, Second Uncle."

Although smiling, his tone was extremely cold. Even He Bohuai on the video side sobered up somewhat.

"Qingchen, it's so late. Do you need anything?" He Bohuai sat up from his bed and asked gently.

Beside him, Yu Xue also woke up and asked, "Who is it? Are you crazy to disturb people's sleep so late into the night!"

He Qingchen heard Yu Xue's voice. "Just in time. Second Aunt is awake too so let's watch the fireworks together."

He Bohuai's eyebrows bunched up as he straightened his body and asked, "What fireworks?"

He Qingchen smiled sinisterly without answering his words. Instead, he said, "This afternoon, a helper chef from Sui Garden restaurant that I own suddenly resigned without even taking this month's salary."

Before He Bohuai could speak, Yu Xue beside him blew up impatiently, her annoyed voice rising several pitches. "Qingchen, are you so free that you're calling your second uncle in the dead of night over a resigned helper chef? Are you..."

Stopping mid-sentence, Yu Xue seemed to recall something as she glanced at He Bohuai. Could it be that matter?

"Heh, I am quite free. So free that I've come to the suburbs in the middle of the night to set off some fireworks." He Qingchen shifted his body to reveal the villa not far behind him that was now in the camera view.

"If I remember correctly, Second Uncle and Second Aunt do enjoy setting off fireworks. So you must like watching them too, right? Since I'm free anyway, let me treat you to a fireworks show."

Right after he finished speaking, the villa behind him caught fire. First the yard, then the flames gradually spread towards the building.

In less than a few seconds, Yu Xue's horrified voice rang out from the video. "Stop! Enough!"

"Hubby, that's Jun Ting's villa! He's still inside!"

"Jun Ting, Jun Ting, please answer the call! Please answer..."
