Chapter 36 - The Winner (3)
Ch.36 The Winner (3)
When she thought of this, Lin Yueqi was relieved again. Since Wen Zhe chose her, even if she can’t win over Qin Xue in the stages, she’ll still try her best and answer them seriously.
She’ll show the audience that even someone half-assed like her can turn serious from Wen Zhe’s motivation. Maybe Wen Zhe might gain some popularity from this?
Thinking that, Lin Yueqi became even more determined to go through the stages seriously.
But she would never have expected, however, that the so-called fancy university graduate really couldn’t match up with a high schooler like her.
…
Following that, Lin Yueqi and Wen Zhe got past the fifth stage in one breath. When they arrived at the sixth stage, Qin Xue and her gang were still stuck at the fourth stage.
The fourth, fifth, and sixth stages were all maths questions. In order to ensure that they can pass on the first try, Lin Yueqi would always get Wen Zhe’s own thoughts and solutions before offering a different perspective. So, they used two ways to solve the maths questions in the maths questions after that.
Wen Zhe was stunned by her solutions and couldn’t help but sigh, “The solutions you come up with are clearer than mine. You’re smart.”
“You’re not bad either!” Lin Yueqi felt somewhat embarrassed to be praised by her male god and was blushing up to her ears.
The later questions consisted of English listening questions, chemistry, and physics…For the English bits, they relied on Wen Zhe for those. But he didn’t seem to have the right skills to solve the chemistry and physics questions.
These questions were so difficult that even if he tried his best, he would still come to a wrong answer in the end. Fortunately, he had Lin Yueqi’s “all-round massacre”, and they went through all the questions smoothly.
When Lin Yueqi saw the topics, her mind was filled with joy and excitement.
—Damn, I did a similar one just the other day!
—Damn, they have this one too?
—Damn, aren’t these too easy? Is this really the college entrance exam? Do they really have that many similar questions during the exam? That makes no sense! QAQ
—Damn, these questions are too easy. Qin Xue’s 6-man team should’ve reached the top already, right?
…
The director and the netizens who were staring at their monitors were all dumbfounded when they saw Lin Yueqi answering the questions as if she was on “god mode”.
The assistant director watched Lin Yueqi on the screen and gulped. He turned his head to the director and said, “Their 2-man group is reaching the top soon. They’re 35 stages ahead of Team A…Isn’t that too much? At this rate, the recording of the show might be over before tomorrow.”
Wen Zhe wasn’t too popular so the only reason he was allowed on the show was that the crew wanted to test him. His “entrance exam” capabilities far surpassed all the stars in the last season.
So, when Wen Zhe and Lin Yueqi formed their 2-man group, the director didn’t stop them. He felt that Team B likely wouldn’t fall too much behind with Wen Zhe around.
But now, not only was Team B not lagging behind, they were massacre-ing their way through, going up the hill unhindered as if they were running on cheats.
The production crew had a rule that the episode had to end when one team reaches the top. Plus, the live reality show didn’t go by any scripts in order to retain fairness. However, this ended up leaving them with the blunder of Lin Yueqi’s hidden boss-like appearance.
The director wiped his sweat and said, “There are two stages left, no hurry. The last two questions will keep them…”
Before he could finish, Lin Yueqi had already passed up her answer sheet to the second last question and said cheerfully, “Going through the entire ‘5-3’ review books and more than a dozen mock exams in one go was useful after all! We actually came across similar questions!”
“??” Wen Zhe thought that he had heard wrong. “What did you say…? More than a dozen? What’s ‘5-3’?”
Seeing that the sky was turning dark soon and being told they still had one final stage, Lin Yueqi quickened her steps and headed up. While jogging up the stairs, she said, “Yeah. What did you think I’ve been doing during my one month break? You haven’t heard of ‘5-3’? It’s the nickname for the ‘5 Year Entrance Exams 3 Year Mock Tests’ review book!”
Wen Zhe felt a tightness in his chest and subconsciously held it. Gulping down his surprise, he asked, “You seem pretty good in both the science and liberal arts questions. How’d you manage that?”
“It’s normal, right? I have no partiality to subjects. The courses we took for our batch of examinees aren’t separated by major.”
Lin Yueqi knew that arts and school courses were divided by majors these days.

The 6-man Team A was still stuck halfway up the hill. Qin Xue was distracted because of her “shingles” and was not in good condition. Moreover, her other teammates were all flunkies. They were barely able to get through with Qin Xue’s help on the early math questions, but when it came to the physics questions, it was almost impossible for them to get the right answer.
