Chapter 20: Express Delivery Girl
Chapter 20
"Big brother, are you working overtime again until now?" Jing Yi had just come downstairs when she saw Jing Zeyou about to go up.
She widened her eyes, thinking Jing Zeyou had been working all night again and was only now returning home.
Jing Zeyou shook his head, "No, I just came back from Mom's place. I'm going to grab a document before heading to the office."
Jing Zeyou had gone to the hospital early this morning to visit Lin Ruiqing and discuss her recovery progress with the doctor.
The doctor said Lin Ruiqing was recovering well, gradually improving, and should be able to leave the hospital soon.
Seeing that Jing Zejun and Jing Beicheng were in the hospital room keeping her company, Jing Zeyou didn't stay long. He returned to the Jing family home, intending to gather some things before going back to the office.
Jing Yi breathed a sigh of relief.
[Thank goodness, I thought big brother had become such a workaholic that he didn't even care about his life anymore.]
Jing Zeyou's lips twitched slightly. He only had one life, and he did care about it.
Jing Yi strolled leisurely to the dining room to eat.
Sunlight from the courtyard still streamed through the windows. It was a long-awaited time to relax!
She stretched comfortably.
For the past few days, to accommodate Lin Ruiqing's schedule, Jing Yi had also started going to bed and waking up early, finally developing a healthy routine.
Today was the first day she could sleep in and leisurely get up for breakfast.
Aunt Wang had even prepared a new dish for Jing Yi - baked buns! The golden-brown crust topped with white sesame seeds looked mouth-watering.
Jing Yi eagerly picked one up with her chopsticks and savored it.
In an instant, Jing Yi's almond-shaped eyes lit up. The crust was crispy, the lamb wasn't gamey at all, the texture was tender, and there was a subtle aroma of cumin. It had been so long since she'd tasted something this good!
"Aunt Wang! These baked buns are delicious!" Aunt Wang's eyes crinkled with joy.
The sound of Jing Zeyou's footsteps coming downstairs could be heard.
"Big brother, do you want to join us for a bite? These baked buns are amazing!"
Jing Yi poked her head out, looking towards Jing Zeyou who had already reached the living room, inviting him to eat together.
Jing Zeyou thought for a moment, realizing he didn't have any important meetings, so he decided to join them. "What are your plans for the afternoon?" he asked.
Jing Yi picked up a slice of ham and put it in her bowl. "I plan to lie down and watch TV."
Jing Zeyou paused for a moment, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.
Although he knew that given Jing Yi's personality, she probably wouldn't have any serious plans, Jing Zeyou was always surprised by her answers.
"How about visiting Zeqian's company?"
Jing Yi's almond eyes looked at Jing Zeyou in front of her, curiosity shining through.
[Jing Zeqian's company? You mean Startrack Entertainment?]
"Big brother, are you going to second brother's company this afternoon?"
Jing Zeyou didn't actually have time for that. It was just that Jing Zeqian had left a document at home and asked him to drop it off.
Jing Zeyou had already arranged for Uncle Li to have someone deliver it, but thinking Jing Yi might be interested in Jing Zeqian's entertainment company, he asked if she wanted to go.
"I'll go! No need to trouble Uncle Li, I can deliver the document myself."
[An entertainment company, huh? There should be lots of handsome stars there!]
Jing Zeyou looked up at Jing Yi, the corners of his mouth unconsciously turning upward.
After all, as one of the top entertainment companies in the industry, Startrack Entertainment had no shortage of not just handsome men, but also award-winning actors, actresses, and popular celebrities.
He picked up one of the baked buns she had highly recommended. It was indeed quite good.
"Big brother, can I take 'Black Night' out?"
Jing Yi's eyes sparkled with anticipation, her tone becoming cheerful.
Ever since she had driven it last time, Jing Yi had been constantly thinking about it, but never had the chance.
[If I could drive it to Jing Zeqian's company, he'd be so jealous!]
Those two really did take every opportunity to bicker.
Lunch was almost over. Jing Zeyou put down his chopsticks and wiped his hands with a nearby wet wipe.
"Whenever you want to take it out, just ask Uncle Li for the keys. Or better yet, I'll leave the keys with you, so you don't need to ask me anymore."
Now Jing Yi was truly surprised, staring at the person in front of her with wide eyes full of joy.
"Thank you, big brother!"
[Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, this is 'Black Night' we're talking about!]
Seeming to want something in return, Jing Zeyou added, "Just one condition: be careful."
He didn't know why Jing Yi liked sports cars so much, but he knew she was a responsible driver and wouldn't recklessly speed.
Otherwise, he wouldn't feel comfortable letting her drive out alone.
"I know, I know! Safety first, it's the number one rule of driving!"
The corners of Jing Zeyou's mouth turned up, a faint smile playing on his lips.
It was time for him to return to the office. "The document is with Uncle Li. Just ask him for it when you leave."
"Okay! Goodbye, big brother!"
As Jing Zeyou left for the office, Jing Yi quickly finished her meal, eager to get ready.
Clearly, the allure of 'Black Night' was greater than that of food.
Jing Yi pushed open the door to her room's walk-in closet, faced with a sea of clothes.
When she first arrived, this room didn't have nearly as many clothes and accessories. Two days after Jing Yi moved in, Lin Ruiqing had arranged for several personal shoppers and luxury stores to fill the room with clothes.
Looking up suddenly, she was dazzled by the variety of styles, finding it hard to choose what to wear.
This will do!
Jing Yi changed into a short white T-shirt and light brown cargo pants, grabbing an orange-toned cardigan. After a quick touch-up, she was ready to go.
"Uncle Li, is this the document second brother needs?"
Jing Yi walked to the courtyard where Uncle Li was already standing respectfully by the main gate, holding a folder.
Seeing Jing Yi come out, Uncle Li handed her the document.
Jing Zeyou had briefed him before leaving.
"Yes, Miss Yi. This is the document the young master asked me to give you, and here are the keys. Let me show you to the garage."
Jing Yi took the items and smiled, "No need, Uncle Li. I can find it myself. Please, carry on with your work."
She knew where the garage was, so she declined Uncle Li's offer to guide her.
Uncle Li hesitated for a moment but didn't insist.
"'Black Night'! Here I come!"
The piano black sports car was waiting in the center of the garage. Jing Yi spotted it immediately.
The door opened, and Jing Yi slid into the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel.
No matter how many cars she had driven, she was always impressed by the feel of 'Black Night'. It truly lived up to its reputation as a top-tier luxury car!
The familiar engine roared to life. Uncle Li, busy with his tasks in the courtyard, looked up to see the black sports car speeding away from the villa.
Since Miss Yi had arrived, the Jing family seemed to have undergone some changes. It felt livelier somehow.
Several times, he had heard commotion from the living room while standing outside. At first, he worried that the second young master and Miss Yi were arguing.
But after a while, it became the norm.
More importantly, it was fortunate to have Miss Yi around. Otherwise, the madam might have suffered greatly this time.
Uncle Li smiled to himself and returned to his tasks.
