Chapter 57: [Behind the Scenes!]
[Adrian's POV!]
[GM Points: 533,121!]
With [Accelerated Thinking!] I was able to kill more monsters than I was hoping to target.
"With this much, I can make something good for Boss and Invar. As for Avida and Levi… I think a skill would be better for them than an artifact," I gave it a bit of a thought before moving towards the city.
The meeting time was still about an hour away so I didn't have to worry about getting late. But still let's hurry, just in case.
Another good thing that happened was
[Gift: Cartography! (Growth Type)
Grade: Lower Mortal Grade - 2
Experience till next Grade: 55.00% (137.5/250 Square Miles)
Effect:
-Allows the user to create layered mental maps based on what he has observed! The user can switch between different layers at will!
-Marks all the living beings on the Map with their respective colors!!
-Minor information about unknown players (name, gender, etc) will be displayed.
-All known information about any buildings or structures will be available!
-Known information about the players will be available!
-Allows the user to Mark 10 movable targets! ]
I was able to increase the grade of my [Gift!] by 2 more levels. The next level was even harder and it's gonna get worse later but now that I was at this point, I was hoping to increase the grade beyond [Lower Mortal Grade!]. I wonder what effects I would unlock if I do that?
Anyways, as I ran back towards the city, I kept thinking about the type of effects I should apply on Boss and Invar's weapons.
Boss asked me for a Crossbow that's easy to use, while Invar wanted another katana that could go along with his current two. Since his swords were able to draw out Fire and Ice mana in each, I was thinking of going with a third elemental effect. But then I had another idea… something that Invar would love more than that…
-Whoosh!
Increasing my speed, I then ran faster as I jumped down the tree branch and began sprinting with all my might.
-Whoosh!
'Maybe I should base off my second skill on Agility? Or maybe something superhuman that could increase all my physical abilities at once?' I gave it a bit of thought before I saw a part of my [System!]
[Body Type: Mortal!]
'Hmmm. Maybe I won't need a skill? But let's not rush to judge on that. We need to find out what that is, before we move to any conclusion,' I sighed before putting it at the back of my mind. I will find my answers soon.
-Slash!
-Slash!
[You have killed a D-Grade Monster: Fanged Wolf!]
[You have killed a D-Grade Monster: Fanged Wolf!]
Running through the forest as I killed a couple more monsters, it took me about 20 minutes before I reached back to the main city. Crossing the main gate, I ran through the city from one part to another, until I reached the shop from where I could get the best weapons possible in the city.
"All right. Let's finish this task. I have a lot to prepare for the tutorial for tomorrow," I thought as I then entered the shop, moving towards the section where crossbows were sold.
…
[Location: ???!]
In an unknown location, there was a huge roundtable, with 12 seats placed at equal distance around the table. Each of those seats were numbered, with 8 of the seats empty.
"How far are the preparations going on for the Tutorial Level 4?" From seat number 11, a feminine voice appeared as a girl wearing a black cloak asked the questions.
The seat 9,6 and 4 looked at her before seat 9 spoke,
"We have spread the disease to a certain degree. Now we just need to wait for the players to join in, and we can connect the tutorial to the first Floor 1."
He was a giant man, about 3 times much taller than a normal human with his body on the bulkier side. Unlike the cloaked woman, he was wearing a white dress that covered his entire body except his face.
"Seems like we can finally take complete control of the entire Tower now. Finally, we can break through this hell," Seat 6, a tall man with blue hair spoke as he looked at the ceiling. Though the seat 11, looked at him with a narrowed gaze before she spoke,
"Let's not get too over our heads. The administrator of the Tutorial and the First Floor aren't someone we can take lightly. Plus there are those two as well. The Soul of the First Floor and the Crown Prince of the Night. We must make sure that there are no disturbances."
"Ah! My apologies! You are correct. But still, we shouldn't be too worried about the weak insects so much. The main problem, the tower system, as long as we breach that. There should be no problem whatsoever," Seat 6 spoke as he smiled with a wide grin on his face.
"Speaking of insects. Are there any players we should worry about?" Seat 9 asked, to which Seat 11 turned on the hologram showing 4 faces.
"That guy is an Immortal Grade. Percy Millton. Then these two are Heaven's grade, one is Alice and this one is Timber. From what I have collected, we need to be most careful about Alice because she got a contract from the Gods," she spoke as she briefed them about the people on the screen.
Though they were shocked, they didn't make much fuss about it. After all, each of the seats were minimum Immortal Grade, with half of them having Half-Mythical Grade. Their Leader, Seat 1, one of the extremely rare beings in the entire tutorial was a Mythical Grade.
"What about him? Who is he?" Seat 4, the girl who was quite up until now, looked at the blank face of the last guy. Only his name was present on the screen.
"His name is Crowley. Though we know nothing more than that about him. His grade, his powers, his skill, nothing at all. Madam Tel's Skill of Complete Knowledge couldn't provide any knowledge about him either.
If not for matching with the information related to that I stole from the [Admin's List!], I wouldn't even know about his existence," spoke seat 11, making the others narrow their eyes at Adrian.
"Do we know where he is now?" Seat 9 asked.
"No. If we want to find him, I believe none of the search skills would work. We might need to manually go down to the First Floor and look into him," Seat 11 answered as her eyes looked at that name again.
"Should I go? He seems to be someone who can interfere with our plans?" Even the Seat 6, who was generally nonchalant, turned serious as he looked at Adrian's name.
"No. You will be needed to stop the Admin of Floor 27. He won't like anyone interfering with Nora. 11. Since you are going to watch over this whole plan along with 3, make sure to check this one out. And if possible, see if you can scout him first.
Since he could bypass even Madam Tell's system, he could be very useful for our plans," Seat 4 spoke out, making everyone nod at her politely.
Seat 11 vanished first, and then Seat 9. Finally 6, leaving Seat 4 all by herself.
Seat 4 looked at the name, Crowley, with her eyes flickering for a bit before she sighed. A message appeared in front of her eyes, before a sudden glint of a smile appeared on her face.
[You are not Authorized to look at the Stats of the Target!]
"Interesting," she mumbled as she kept staring at the name in front of her.
…
[Nora's POV!]
Standing alone at the top of the central tower, I once again found myself rather lonely. It's not like there wasn't anyone to talk with but after losing people for over thousands of times, I wonder if there is any meaning to this existence of mine?
"I knew, you would be here," Clair, the admin of the first floor, spoke as she walked towards me. Turning around, I tried to give a calm smile. Perhaps I was used to silence, I didn't answer her words.
"I know it's hard. Given how this whole tower functions, there is nothing we can do. But please don't forget that it is our destiny given by the tower to us. Without it, we are nothing," she spoke words that somehow made me lose that smile.
"So losing my husband because the tower promoted him to a higher floor was our destiny? And the fact that I can never leave this place and he can never leave that, was something that I should just accept, huh?" I asked her.
A relationship that lasted a millenia was destroyed because the tower decided that my husband is better suited for a higher floor. It disgusted me.
I could neither live nor die. I can only suffocate as I see the entire world functioning as if nothing changed. Even if I try to kill myself, the tower would issue quests to players who would eventually fix the problem and save me.
"Perhaps, it was?" Claire spoke as a flare boiled up inside me. But then it slowly died down as I looked at her and spoke,
"I was once like you, Clair. Following every command by the system without breaking a sweat. But trust me Claire, the day it takes something extremely important from you, you too will break into pieces."
Clair looked at me with a sigh, not understanding my words as she slowly turned around.
"Meet me at the edge of the floor. There is another dent appearing," she spoke as she vanished from there, while I wondered again,
"Just how long do I need to suffer like this?"
