Chapter 101: [Camping!]
[Mark's POV!]
[Gift: Eagle's Eyes

-For every 1 point in intelligence, the user's viewpoint increases by 1000 Meter!
-For every 1% increase in the distance (Based on max distance the user can see) from the user, the accuracy decreases by 1% (Max 100%) ]
I looked at my [Gift] for a few seconds before checking out my Intelligence Stat.
[Intelligence: 34 (+120)!]
'Well. At this point, I shouldn't have any problems with shooting any targets for now,' I smiled as I felt it was a good idea to invest in items that boosted both Agility and Intelligence. Added with the fact that Adrian was able to [Upgrade] my items to B-Grade without much difficulty, I was able to reach this point.
"Are you sure I should have this?" And then I asked Adrian as I looked at the skill that we somehow ended up finding after hunting a C-Grade Monster.
[Skill: Sharpshooter's Sense!
Grade: C
Effect:
-Allows the user to sense anything even with their eyes closed! The user can find the presence of anything around him based on how far he could see!
-Allows the user to sense any danger coming from all directions!
-Allows the user to gauge the strength of the enemy at a glance!]
"I can already see as far as possible because of my [Gift]. You sure, this would be helpful?" I asked him as he was checking the perimeter for any more monsters. We have already upgraded all of my Skills to [B-Grade], except for [Hunt] which Adrian wanted me to remove for some reasons.
"It goes well with your [Gift]. Plus, I believe I can change the description of it a bit later before upgrading it to [B-Grade] as well. Trust me on this, this could end up being your hidden card later on," he spoke with a confident voice as I observed him. And then trusting him on this, I used that skill card, filling up the 7th Skill spot as well.
"All right. Give me your hand," he spoke as I raised my hands towards him, and then he did something in the air before speaking,"now put 1000 skill points in that skill," and then I did as he spoke.
[Skill: Sharpshooter's Sense!
Grade: B
Effect:
-Allows the user to sense anything even with their eyes closed! The user can find the presence of anything around him based on how far he could see! The user can read the energies of all those present around him!
-Creates a grid line that allows the user to instantly calculate the position of the target and the user's distance from the target!
Additional Effects:
-Sixth Sense: Allows the user to sense any danger coming from all directions moments before they occur! At random events, the user can even see the future events that would harm him in the next few seconds!
-Focus: Allows the user to gauge the strength and weaknesses of the enemy at a glance! The user can identify all the strong and weak points of the enemy if he concentrates!]
"Holy…" shit!
I widened up my eyes as I saw the effects of the skill. Isn't it like 3 in one skill? We got weakness detection, danger detection and the ability to calculate the distance of the target and the user!
"Since your Gift allows you to see 100s of kilometers, you can basically see a huge amount of area around us at once, predict the danger, and find out the strength and weakness of everything around us at once," he spoke as he smiled, making me feel happy on the inside.
Truly… I would never even need to worry about anything as long as I am with him.
And then thinking about something, I tried looking at Adrian as my first target of my skill. Let's see if…
"Hmmm?" And I narrowed my eyes at him as I observed that… he had no weaknesses. Even though he was barely standing there, I could feel that I couldn't touch him even once. And even though it was a feeling… but even with my [Gift], I would fail to hit him even once.
"What happened?" He asked as he smiled without any care before beginning to look at the map again. We were right now going back, but rather than coming from the same path, we were taking a bit longer path. It was something related to how he wanted to increase his [Gift]'s proficiency as much as possible.
And even when he seemed so nonchalant as he hummed and looked through the hologram map and his own [System], I still couldn't see a single weakness through my skill. In the end, I sighed as I mumbled,
'Monster.'
Before I asked,"how long will it take for us to return?"
It was midnight, and even though there weren't any visible dangers around us, I still didn't feel safe in this forest. Unlike Ad, who was enjoying the entire atmosphere, I was still looking around with my newfound powers for any signs of dangers and such.
"We could reach there in about 5 hours if we continue at this pace, but let's camp here instead. Actually rather than going, I was thinking of checking out something that I found on the map," he said as he pointed at a certain point on the map.
"Hmmm? What's that… green color? Players?" I was surprised to see some of the players marked on the map. They were roughly around 200 kilometers away from here, and should take about 2 hours if we were to move right now.
"They should be the others who got transferred with us here. And given how there are a bunch of them, there should be a city nearby as well. I have already marked them on the map so even if they were to move out of known space, we should be able to follow them. What do you say?" He asked as he looked at them with interest.
I pondered about it before speaking,
"Do we really have to camp here? I don't mind following them back to their city, but staying here in the forest… honestly, I am not too comfortable with that thought."
"Eh? You don't like camping?" He asked, a bit shocked as he looked at me in disbelief.
"This is camping?" I asked in return as I looked at him with a bit of disbelief.
Looking at his expression, it seemed he really wanted to camp right now. I then sighed as I spoke,"how about this then, we find those players and reach them. Then camp with them? That way we can get to know about their situation as well while enjoying the fun of camping as well?"
It wasn't a bad idea. I would feel a bit safer with more people in the forest than just 2 of us.
"Hmmm. Well, I don't trust them as much but… given your new skill and my own arsenal… All right, but I have a few conditions before we get to them," he pondered a few things before continuing,
"First. We won't show more than 1% of our capabilities. When they ask you about your skills and [Gift], don't tell them everything. Tell them what you have told me at the beginning of our journey. Also, about your [Gift]. Tell them everything except for changing that 1000 meters per Intelligence points to 100 meters per intelligence points."
"Do we really have to do that?" I asked as I didn't exactly like it. Even though trusting them would not be the right thing to do, to hide all our capabilities to that extent wasn't exactly a nice thing to do either.
"Well. Based on the kind of life I have lived… it's better to be safe than sorry," he spoke with a smile as he then closed the hologram and spoke,
"Let's go then. I can't waste even a single second to camp."
I sighed as I nodded at his words before both of us began running towards the direction where those players were. Even though we were getting more and more off the path, somehow it felt more closer to home than it did before where I was traveling with Alice.
A smile appeared on my face as I ran beside Adrian, enjoying every moment that I was having right now.
…
[Location: In a random area in the forest!]
"Are we really going to spend the night here?" An orange haired girl in her late 20s spoke, as she stuck close to a man in early 30s. The night of the forest was dark, making it hard for the group of players to see anything around them.
"I told you it was a bad idea to travel too far from the city?" Another man, a fat one, spoke as he cut through the forest with his sword. His eyes were carefully assessing the surroundings.
"It's not like we can go back. Ever since we have already left the group, I am honestly worried about them coming at us," the other girl, a blonde, who was carrying a bow in her hand, spoke as she observed the surroundings with a narrowed look.
"Are we going to be safe?" One of the two kids who were traveling with the group spoke with a fear filled voice, while the other just kept quiet as she looked around with fear in her eyes.
"Don't worry kids. It's going to be alright," that man at the front, the leader of the group, spoke with confidence as he led the group deeper into the forest, trying to find an open spot in the forest where they could set a camp.
"Hey… I think I see a light there," the scout girl spoke as she narrowed her eyes at a distance of about a kilometer from here. The group was alarmed a bit before they wondered if they should avoid them or not.
"Let's take a closer look first," the leader then decided to move closer to the light source before they all nodded and began walking slowly towards that place. And the closer they reached, the more the scout described the details of that place.
The group was a bit surprised to hear the details until they reached closer to the fire, enough to see everything clearly with their own two eyes.
"Who's there?!" An alarmed voice came from the camp around the light, as one of the kids pointed their bow in that direction. And nodding at each other, the group of players slowly came out of hiding.
"We don't mean any harm! We just want a safe place to stay the night!" the leader shouted as he raised both his hands and moved closer to the camp.
The other kid was happily cooking some food on the camp, while he looked at the rest of the group. Wearing a black cloak that mostly covered his entire body, he stood there observing the entire group before his eyes landed on me and he spoke,
"Players?! Finally… We have been traveling for so long without finding any players… thank god… we are saved!"
