The Empyreal Gem Master

Chapter 23: A Leak! I

Heavy bursts of explosions that decimated dozens of Two-Link and Three-Link Black Furred Gorillas.

"...!"

WU! WU!

Any remaining Two-Link and Three-Link Black Furred Gorillas roared out with trepidation at such a devastating scene of carnage.

But this was a clear display of the power of someone with many Life Sockets.

A veteran Five-Link Gem Master would be able to erupt with power similar to this!

Yet within over a day after Awakening, Alexander was already there.

And the place where he currently was right now. His level of power at this moment.

It was truly momentary.

His eyes remained closed.

With the Ice King Gem Recipe, his senses stretched out 1 mile around him.

He felt everything. The low guttural roars of Beasts.

The dead bodies of those he had killed!

The Gems on their Sockets that had dimmed.

His senses came to focus on these gems as he instinctively tried something.

The Spatial Pocket Support allowed the Linked ability to be cast anywhere within 100 meters in all directions.

So he activated Corrupted Lightning Manipulation as multiple balls of crimson lightning appeared on top of the Gems on the dead Sockets of all Black Furred Gorillas he had killed.

They were born from his life force as after this, he pulled every single Gem that his red lightning touched towards the Spatial Pocket Support Gem!

And…

SAA!

Lines of crimson brilliance flashed behind and ahead of Alexander in a fantastical reality, all of them sank into a single red Gem within his Enneagram!

"..."

He did it by instinct.

But it was his first action that used the expanded senses of one Gem Recipe and the capabilities of another Gem Recipe to simultaneously achieve a very precise action!

He may be the first Gem Master to begin looking at the Synergy of having multiple Gem Recipes at once.

The Main Ability Gems and Support Ability Gems of multiple killed Black Furred Gorillas entered his isolated space as it was a scene of utter fantasy.

Above him, Claire looked at all of this with stern amazement as with every passing second since the attack of the Four-Link Black Furred Gorilla, she had begun to feel a sense of urgency.

An urgency that seemed to show her and tell her that Alexander was pulling away to a place where she might not be close to him anymore if she stayed right where she was.

If she wanted to catch up, she had to run towards him.

She had to run with everything she had!

HUM!

Her surroundings began to buzz with blue lightning. With her at the center, a rain of blue lightning began to surge as bolts thundered down onto the remaining Two-Link and Three-Link Black Furred Beasts!

And in synchrony, with his eyes closed, more crimson lightning and a wave of glacial ice streaked from Alexander and towards the remaining Beasts surrounding them.

It was a gorgeous scene that, sadly, did not have any other eyes to witness.

Within 30 seconds, no roars of Beasts could be heard in the surroundings.

There were only the figures of a young man and a woman.

Crimson streaks of light flashed from the dead bodies of Beasts of Corruption and flowed to the young man, his green battle robe flashing with an icy glare as frost covered it with a chilling light.

From above, the figure of Claire descended with her lightning wings to stand beside him, her eyes showing tiredness as she breathed out heavily- but she couldn’t help from admiring the scene around them!

Dozens of powerful Beasts of Corruption left dead.

No others were coming from the Breach inside this Breach, the only remaining enemies being those that were chasing Gem Master Azazel and others.

"Huff…What do we do now?"

Controlling her breath, Claire looked towards Alexander as she asked.

What could they do now? After such a thing had happened…

Alexander finally opened his eyes as he turned to look at Claire, his eyes looking straight at her, and yet seeming to be thinking of countless other things.

"There is a leak, and we do not know from where. All we know is that they passed information about you to powerful Beasts of Corruption, and that Beasts of Corruption have uses for you- or really any Five-Link Gem Masters. Since a Four-Link Beast came for you, is it somehow possible for Beasts of Corruption to take the Life Sockets of Humans and somehow make them theirs? Or do they have other uses?"

…!

Alexander voiced out some of the countless thoughts in his mind.

Claire was a young and newly Awakened Five-Link Gem Master.

It was relatively easy to take her down and use her for whatever cruel means these Beasts of Corruption had!

Thinking of what could have happened, Claire’s gaze was ashen as she voiced out with hesitation.

"We…cannot go back?"

She said this with hesitation.

But Alexander nodded his head with heavy affirmation as he replied thoughtfully!

"We cannot go back to Carthage. Not until we know just who may be passing by information. They could be in the Barracks of this Tier 1 Breach, or on the walls of Carthage, or in an important position. You will be a walking target so long as they tell the Beasts of Corruption where you are. And they can’t find out too much about me either.

They will know something went wrong with Bobo here, but they won’t have too many details."

He was thinking.

He was trying his best to think of the best course of action!

He felt like his brain was burning up, but the cooling sensation from the Ice King Gem Recipe always came and cooled him down as he continued to think.

Beside him, Claire was the same as she uttered out.

"But inside Carthage, we have my Father, your Father, and hundreds of powerful Gem Masters. If they waited for me to leave Carthage before ambushing us, maybe their capabilities would make it so that they can’t even have any designs on Carthage."

"Maybe…" Alexander nodded in reply, his gaze going towards the Barracks of the Breach where Gem Master Azazel and others should have received reinforcements- and they should be more than okay in handling the few dozen Two-Link and Three-Link Black Furred Gorillas that had been chasing them with those reinforcements.

"Maybe, but my father recently reminded me how Humans could be worse than monsters. We don’t know who among those in the City of Carthage are on our side. Until we understand this, the safest bet is to contain any information about us- about you, to a minimum. Once we have a clearer picture, and even understand the core reason for them wanting your Life Sockets…we can move freely. For now…"

A possible plan formed in his mind!
