The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 217: Fusion.

In the dark depths of a lonely cave, a fierce fight between light and dark, between divine and demonic was taking place. Two souls in one body, fiercely fighting for control and constantly tearing Ark's body apart from the inside.

In the beginning, the fight had merely affected his consciousness, and his thoughts, bringing him unimaginable pain, but now, his body was beginning to crumble under the pressure.

The majestic and fluffy pure white mane of the Overlord Elemental Wolf had become a dull grey colour, and many hairs had already fallen out. If Ark was able to stay conscious, he would also notice that his skin had dried up, and cracked all over. The dull grey fur was stained with dry blood that had been seeping out constantly.

In his mind, Ark was absentmindedly watching the interaction between the divine soul and the demonic soul as they tried to devour each other. What was interesting was that both of the souls were born from Ark's body, which meant that they were essentially him. The third soul was naturally his normal soul, or his beast soul to be exact.

This third soul was the only one with a clear thought process and consciousness, as it was Ark himself. As he watched the two other souls which had completely ravaged both his mind and body, Ark's mind was empty. The only thoughts he had were depressive and quite pathetic. As he was busy loathing himself and his weakness, the battle between the two souls was reaching a zenith.

As the struggle became more and more intense, Ark could feel his beast soul being pressured immensely from all directions. Pain, despair, and even a trace of fear appeared in Ark's hollow heart as he watched his mind and body on the verge of collapse because of the souls' battle.

As he was lamenting, he felt his soul shake, and a bad feeling filled Ark's mind. Before he could get a chance to react, his beast soul was suddenly blasted out of his body into the dark chamber underground. In this weird soul state, Ark could naturally not feel his limbs, as he didn't have any.

He could see his withered body on the ground, although it still had some vitality left, Ark could see that it was slowly crumbling under the pressure of the two souls. As he was feeling lost, Ark once again felt the same bad feeling as before, and he raised his head to look up. Above his head was naturally the roof of this small chamber, but Ark felt like this bad feeling came from beyond.

He felt like he would regret it if he didn't find the source of this uneasiness. It was a weird feeling to have, quite indescribable, at least it was unlike anything Ark had ever felt before. Without an ounce of hesitation, Ark left his body behind and quickly flew upwards, going straight through the roof, and also the ground above it.

Since he was currently just a soul, he could pass through material objects like they didn't exist, and the speed of his flight was faster than the speed of sound. It took him less than a second to appear above ground again, however, the sight that he saw truly shook him to his core. He was currently hovering above a dark and decrepit house, but that wasn't what shocked him.

The area around the house was chaotic, to say the least. A huge battle was taking place, and as Ark looked around, his eyes widened upon seeing who was fighting. He could see Atar being surrounded by hordes of enemies, specifically different kinds of undead; it looked like he was struggling a lot.

A bit further away, Thufrat was fighting a death knight on his own, wildly stimulating his earth dragon bloodline to the best of his ability.

There were also two other people fighting, one of them being an elf, whilst the other was presumably a human. Just seeing this, Ark was already anxious, however, after he spotted Ephine lying in the middle of the battlefield, whimpering by herself, Ark could feel his illusory heart becoming more and more agitated.

Feelings that he had forgotten under the mind-numbing torture he had been through started resurfacing all at once.

Anger and anxiety intertwined with each other to create a feeling that made Ark's soul state flicker violently as he tried his best to find a way out of the situation. Was he going to keep watching as the love of his life withered away in front of his eyes, and as his only family were fighting for their lives? Of course not! He didn't come this far just to give up!

He didn't endure all of this pain just to wither away on his own! He needed to save them! And he needed to do it now!

As anxiety clouded his very being, Ark tried his hardest to think of a solution. He had already realised that this illusory soul state he was in was useless right now. No one could see him, he couldn't interact with anything, and he couldn't use magic to help. With more and more anxiety building up, Ark felt like his mind was suddenly struck by lightning! An idea!

A mad expression appeared on his face, and he looked at his companions resolutely before he dived down straight back into the ground. Passing through the dry soil and into the small and dark chamber, Ark once again appeared in front of his own body.

At this point, his body had withered away even more, and the small amount of vitality left in his body was fluttering like a candle in the wind; it could be extinguished at any second.

Ark didn't look at his own body for more than a second before he charged straight into his own mind, confronting the two souls that were still fighting with each other. Now that he had returned to his mind, Ark felt like he could use some abilities, confirming the conjectures he had made earlier.

With a determined mind, Ark urged his beast soul to rush into the fight, breaking the back and forth that had been going on between the divine soul and the demonic soul.

With no regard for his life, Ark urged whatever power he had left to pull both the divine soul and the demonic soul into his beast soul. Although they struggled fiercely, with the beast soul as the centre point, the divine soul and the demonic soul entered a strange state.

Constantly colliding and grinding against each other, the three souls entered a state of equilibrium as they slowly started fusing.

The pain of such actions was naturally indescribable, and something that Ark had no way of ever enduring. He passed out from the pain fairly quickly, but his pure instincts kept operating even though he wasn't conscious himself. The process soon started speeding up, and the three souls merged more and more with each other, constantly tearing each other apart and reintegrating into one whole.

As the process was reaching its final stages, Ark's body slowly lifted off the ground, and a shocking phenomenon occurred...
