The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 175: Another day, another spoiled brat.

Even though they had come here to enjoy themselves a little, it seemed like it wasn't going to go according to Ark's original plan. The annoying voice seemed to come from a rather plump young man that was seated at a table a couple of meters away from them. The plump young man was currently flirting with the waitress, or as most would call it, harassing her.

His behaviour was quite honestly disgusting, as he wouldn't let her return to her work in peace.

Ark wasn't stupid, and he could quickly figure out that this guy was someone rather important in this town, probably a noble of some sort, otherwise the waitress would've just told him to fuck off. Ark hated stuff like this, and he sometimes wondered what went through these people's heads when they did stuff like this.

The waitress looked disgusted and troubled by this noble's advances on her, but there wasn't much she could do.

Sure, she could tell him to go away, and if she didn't, then she could report him to the city guards. But even the most honourable guards had their price, something the noble's father would willingly pay to keep him out of trouble. With that said, a resounding slap suddenly echoed throughout the establishment.

Nearly every table turned their heads to look at the spectacle, only to see a rather surprising scene.

The waitress hadn't done anything, she was only cowering behind another female figure, namely Ephine. The behaviour of the rather fat noble had disgusted her, and there was no way that she was just going to stand such behaviour without doing anything.

Ark wasn't really surprised by her little intervention, since he knew that she couldn't stand watching stuff like this, but he could already feel a headache coming.

This meant endless trouble for them while they were in the city, and they had just arrived too. Maybe they were fated to get in trouble, since it seemed like they got in trouble every single time they entered either a city or encountered humans in general. The reason was fairly simple of course, humans.

If they entered a city, they got in trouble because they encountered troublesome humans, and if they encountered humans elsewhere, then they had a tendency to be less civil, as there were no rules in the wilderness.

The fat noble looked shocked beyond belief, as if something like this would never happen to him in this lifetime. Ark could see the anger boiling within his eyes, and before the guards by his side could even draw their swords, he had already appeared behind them.

A swift roundhouse kick was all that was needed for the guards to pass out, and for the fat noble to swallow the words he was about to spout.

Though he was definitely a bad person, he wasn't mentally handicapped, and he wasn't going to start scolding these people as they could easily kill him before anyone could ever come to his rescue, so he swallowed his words, and bided his time. As long as his father was notified about what happened here, he would get his revenge. There was no way they could escape from his father's guards after all.

The happenings in the café naturally spread within the city quite fast, as the fat noble was a notorious character, and someone who no one really liked around here. Though that was the case, no one dared to go against him, they all had something they wanted to live for after all. Giving up on life because of a sense of justice was not something a lot of people would do.

Everyone cared more about their own benefits and interests than others, that was just life. Naturally there were still a lot of people who wanted to help people if they could, but that was the problem. "If" they could, not many had the backing or strength to do whatever they wanted.

People were happy to hear of his misfortune, but they were also scared, who knew what antics the fat noble would cause because of this. His father was quite known for his ruthlessness and overprotectiveness of his only son. The news quickly reached the fat noble's father as well, and he instantly sent two of his strongest guards to the scene.

When they arrived, all they found was two knocked out guards, as well as their young master trembling by himself on the floor.

Since they knew what awaited them if they came back empty-handed, the two guards split up. One escorted their young master to somewhere that was a bit safer, while the other guard set off to trace the adventurers who had started this whole thing. Since he had no idea if they were strong or not, he had to actually be a little careful with what he was doing.

If he wasn't careful, his head might be rolling down the streets a few hours down the line.

Since he was a prestigious noble's guard, people were more than willing to provide help and assistance if it meant that they could earn a favour or two. Of course not everyone would do it to earn a favour, but it wasn't like they had much of a choice in the first place, who knew what would happen to them if they didn't do what was asked of them?

Since Ark and his group hadn't been discreet in the first place, it only took a short moment for the guard to find their trail.

Normally it would take a while to find someone in a city like this, but since Ark's group was rather outstanding, it was hard to forget them, even in a crowd. Eventually he came across a rather small and inconspicuous shop in the middle of downtown. He had heard of this place before, and they specialised in mana crystals.

It was a rather normal establishment, with nothing going for it except for the nice sign outside of the shop. The guard had no idea what they wanted with this shop, but since he had found what he was looking for, he quickly left to get some backup.

What the guard didn't know was that this small shop was actually quite different from the rest of the mana crystal shops in the city. The owner was an old and experienced noble, who had went on many adventurers as a young man. After getting older, he had decided to put such a risky life behind him, as he had mouths to feed at home, and he didn't want to die and leave them behind.

Since all he had left from his adventuring days was his mana, he had opened up a small shop, and settled down.

The reason why and his group had chosen this store was because of the old man. Since he had been adventuring for all of his life, and he was a noble at that, he had a lot more financial resources compared to other small shops in the city. What Ark wanted to sell was the mana crystal of a fallen angel, it wasn't something anyone could get their hands on.

It was worth a lot, more than most shops could handle.
