The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 10: Meeting!

When the lady had finally gotten in front of them they were both sweating profusely and shivering from anxiety. It was kind of hard not to, in their eyes, this mysterious woman almost seemed like she was holy. A second later they both finally realized something, why had this woman called out to them? Did they offend her somehow? Was she annoyed by the fact that they had been running on the street?

They really hoped that they hadn't offended her somehow. Cause that seemed like it would be quite the disaster!

But when she was walking towards them she didn't really look particularly mad, the aura she emitted also seemed to be quite gentle, giving them the feeling that she wasn't angry at them, which she wasn't. When she came to stop in front of them she gave them a quick look over before she began to speak again.

"Why were you in such a hurry" She gently asked them.

"We have a monster sighting to report to the adventurers guild," They both said almost simultaneously to the lady.

"A monsters sighting? What kind? Since it seems so urgent" The lady asked as she pondered a bit.

"We suspect that we have found either a possible divine creature or a possible demonic creature" Grant answered, a little anxiously.

Hearing this made even the stoic face of the seemingly young woman change a little bit.

If it was already confirmed that it was one of the two beasts then she would surely be a lot more shocked, the reason she wasn't that surprised was simply because she didn't believe that the kids in front of her had the right judgment for this kind of thing, even though she thought of them as kids she wasn't much older herself.

The kids in front of her were around 15 while she was only 18, so the difference wasn't really that big. After asking the so-called "kids" in front of her for the whole story she knew where they had gotten there guesses from, she couldn't blame them though since it was indeed very strange.

A monster saving a human and then letting them go was really rare, and the lady had decided that she would check the situation out for herself.

After having asked them for the situation were the showdown had taken place and which direction the wolf had taken the lady bid the two farewell and sett off into the woods. The possibility that the wolf was dangerous to her safety because of its power never crossed the lady's mind. There was a simple reason behind this, she was strong, really strong.

Not only was she strong but she was also very influential, which meant that she also had elite bodyguards and assassins that could help her with practically anything she needed them for.

Because of the fact that she had professional and powerful assassins, she also wouldn't really lose the wolf since they could easily track it down. It took about an hour for the entourage to get to the scene of the battle since they had to travel on foot for half of the way where the carriage couldn't go.

There wasn't actually that much of a mess after the battle had taken place, there were some claw marks here and there, some big, some small. You could also see some scorched patches of grass and trees anywhere you looked, most of the time mixed in with some blood.

Seeing the scene didn't affect the woman in the slightest as she ordered one of her assassins to scout ahead in the direction that the wolf had headed. It only took him about 5 minutes before he was back again. He told her that he had found the wolf resting and healing itself inside of a hollowed out tree that seemed to be it's home. After hearing these news the lady stood and pondered for a minute.

She was now a bit more interested than she was before, the wolf obviously had some intelligence as the tree it had chosen as its home was quite well hidden, as well as being close to some pretty useful and important places. Another thing that had interested her, even more, was the fact that the wolf seemed to be a variant of a blue wolf.

It apparently had some tattoos or maybe engravings in its fur that seemed to glow a bit in the darkness as well as contain some hidden power that was constantly emanating from it.

In conclusion, it had both obvious intelligence as well as being a variant, there was definitely something up with this wolf, and in the low chance that it was a future divine creature she wanted to try and communicate with it, or at least build some good relations with it.

This wasn't really for her own personal gain but more for the country's, since she did have to care a lot for it because of her morals and social standing.

She didn't really know if the wolf would have a way to communicate with her but she thought that she might as well give it a try. If the wolf wasn't able to communicate with her then she would just be able to leave, since it wasn't strong enough to force her otherwise.

After changing directions and starting to travel towards the tree, the entourage took about 5 minutes of careful walking to get there.

When they stood in front of the tree they suddenly sensed some fairly powerful Mana fluctuations coming from within the tree, the lady seemed a little surprised for a split second before she regained her cool again, the reason she lost her cool a little was because of the Mana she sensed.

It seemed to be a tad bit too strong to be a blue wolf and the fluctuations also contained some fire Mana, which was quite strange.

They waited outside of the tree for about 5 seconds before the wolf slowly and carefully showed itself. Aside from the "marks" the blue wolf was only slightly bigger than normal, or well that was how it looked until you looked into its eyes.

They didn't seem to belong to an animal at all, they showed a deep look and a sense of maturity that you would even rarely see among fellow humans, not to mention some monsters you would find in a forest.

After taking a deep breath and calming herself down a little bit, the lady proceeded to talk to the wolf.

"We mean you no harm, we are just here to talk"

This earned her a bit of a flustered look before it calmed down and returned a nod. Seeing this made the lady a bit excited as she realized that this wolf could actually understand what she was even saying.

"We were wondering why you rescued the two humans a little while ago"

This time the look she received seemed to indicate that the answer was obvious and that it was a stupid question. This made the lady even more excited, as there were increasingly many signs that this was indeed going to become a divine creature in the future.

This was, of course, excellent news, the demons had actually been quite restless recently and the humans, as well as most of the other races, anticipated that they were probably going to start a war soon since they had always wanted to conquer all of the Aries plane. The biggest reason everyone thought that the demons were growing restless was because of the adventurers guild.

The adventurers guild was a place were people who wanted to make money, fame and a name for themselves go. There you could put up requests with a corresponding difficulty level and reward, then the adventurers of the equivalent rank could take on the quest and hopefully earn the rewards. If something was wrong the adventurers guild would always get reports about it.

This was what was happening recently, apparently, the rate at which the adventurers encountered with demons had tripled compared to before, and it was rising by the day. The demons that the adventurers had encountered also seemed to be out for blood as they always attacked on sight. Something they usually didn't do, so you could easily figure out that something was up.
