Chapter 104 - Jammer
Right after talking with Leah, Devin walked into the house to check for any clues and before he could open the door of his room, he was blocked by two pairs of hands. Devin was anticipating their presence already but did not expect it would be at a rate of knots.
"Why did you ask me to turn off the power supply all of a sudden. How long you are going to keep us in the dark? We need answers." Austin chided knowing it was useless in front of his friend when he was least bothered even by his constant bollocking. Austin got a little wary when Devin asked to cut all the power resources and even the backup. Thinking that something might have happened, without wasting a single second, he informed Jasper to meet face to face with Devin, only then they could get a little relief. They tried to inform Drew, but that annoying fellow got settled with Leena and he is not even picking up the calls now. And the monster would be dubious if they enter her room. She is as suspicious as an old man with an eye patch.
"And here I am! Feeling like we have become strangers already." Jasper added not liking Devin's silence even after they are demanding the truth.
"Stop with your drama Jasper. You are becoming worse than Andrew." Before explaining the situation, peering to his sides, Devin scanned the corridor once for all. Despite none was lurking around, he still wanted to verify.
"Don't compare with that donkey fe_"
"Let's meet in the old garage. " Austin interrupted, tired of the fights. Jasper and Drew have been fighting like a cat and mouse and instead of the wedding preparations, both the bride and groom are babysitting them now.
"Where is the garage?" Jasper asked.
"It's at the back of our house and no one would enter," Austin said, sensing Devin's predicament to talk here.
"Let's split up." Having said that, he started, stepping down the stairs already.
Austin and Jasper also separated their ways to meet at the garage.
...
Upon entering, Austin scanned the area and waited for his friends to arrive.
"Did you check the area thoroughly?" Devin asked stepping into the garage followed by Jasper.
"Positive." Austin continued. "So, what exactly happened?"
"I found spy cameras in the bathroom." Rage pulsed through his veins when he was reminded of the disgusting act.
"What!" Austin and Jasper screamed in terror with the sudden revelation.
"Are you sure Vincy?" Austin asked in hesitation. If it was a hotel, he would have believed it straight away but since it is ther home, he has a hard time reckoning the sudden surprise.
But Devin's silence was enough to conclude, they are indeed installed.
"How many?" Jasper inquired.
"Wall socket, smoker, a pot plant," Devin explained.
"Jesus Christ! Austin stated with disgust. "So, all the three are in working condition?"
"And that's the reason I have asked you to switch off the power supply to verify if they are in working condition. It's a wireless spy camera and if I am not wrong, it is not connected to the house WIFI. Even after the power break down, I could feel a movement in the smoking detector and I am expecting it would be connected to the mobile network. The criminal is staying close and that is the only way a wireless camera can be operated with an internet connection."
Devin's words sent chills down their spine hearing his explanation.
"What sort of sick pleasure they would get spying on someone?" Austin was getting nauseous with the thought alone.
"Does she know?" Jasper asked in hesitation. Just like Reese, he treated Leena and Jane equally. Despite Leena is a crazy lass, he has accepted it long back and he quite enjoyed her craziness. Out of blue, Jasper recalled the scandal she experienced when she was in University. He still couldn't take down the image of her then state. How would she react if she gets to bottom of it?
"She shouldn't know and nobody is going to open their mouth." Devin declared leaving no room for discussions.
"We understand Vincy! You have my word! Do you suspect anyone?" Jasper asked, now he confirmed the girl Devin was talking about. So it's Leena he likes. He would get tortured by the monster in the future.
"As of now, only burger girl," Devin explained the incident which he has encountered with a technician who was here to check on the air conditioners. He omitted the servant who has been prying on him, for they had enough on their plates already.
"Wendy Hamburger? As in lollipop slurping girl? I don't think she is smart enough to install cameras with her pea-sized brain." Austin said.
"Until we find the person behind it, we can not rule out the possibilities. Who knows, she might be working with someone." Devin meant. He was getting thoughts that it might be later.
"Who could be? What kind of benefit they would get? If it was for money, they would have already confronted either you or Leena! Above all, who is their target? Is it you or Leena?" Jasper had many unanswered questions on this unfolded mystery.
"We are still in a paradox situation." Devin meant, even he is looking for answers. As far as he remembered, none has suspiciously contacted Leena. The media would not post anything related to Leena or him and if it is publicized, it must be approved by him.
"Then how do we tackle the_"
"Get a mobile jammer and WIFI jammer. Legal or illegal, buy it! We will hijack everyone's signals tomorrow. Rest, leave it to me." Devin has a plan to lure out the criminal by himself, just that he has to play the cards well.
"I don't think it's a good idea! It may look like a deliberate attempt and it would raise suspicion if everyone's mobile signals get seized suddenly. Besides, how do you make use of it?" Jasper asked and even Austin agreed with his statement.
"Just get it Austin. I will show, how a game can be played."
Austin hesitantly nodded his head. All their friends knew Devin is bonzer at playing mind games and now that his bottom line has been hit, they have to face his wrath.
After a little discussion, they were about to return to their respective rooms, Jasper stopped them.
"Aren't you planning to tell him?" Jasper cleared his throat referring to the person they knew.
"Here you go. Both are mortal enemies in front of everyone. But still, care for each other yet you don't disclose the triggering incident which made you enemies." Austin chastised.
As if he has not heard anything, Jasper was looking outside gazing at the tree branches even after Austin's endless scoldings.
"Let him be with Leena! They both get together very well. She would become cynical thinking we are planning something even if a small suspicion raises. You know about her already."
Nodding their heads all three split up and walked out of the garage individually.
...
While Devin was walking into the house, his eyes unconsciously bounced to the woman sitting on a bench seemingly lost in thoughts. He was a little skeptical about her since she confessed her feelings. Was she involved? I have to keep an eye on her.
Skimming the thought aside, he strolled into the house, the exhaustion was taking a toll on him already.
Sitting on the bed, he was still unsure to check on the person he has in his mind but it could only give rise to more uncertainties in the future.
Grabbing his mobile phone, he instantly called a number and it was lifted in the first ring.
"What sort ot trouble you caused today? Yesterday it was Bernard and now_"
"Just dig on to the person I am sending the details with cutting you crap." Devin interrupted.
"I am busy! Go and check the sarcasm store. They offer free services." His voice had a mocking edge when he spoke.
"State your price." Devin declared.
"Bastard! You are trying to bribe a civil servant. Fine! Since you are my best friend, I will provide a free service."
"You might have known the person already. One more thing! Carry out the mission secretively."
"I knew?... Now it's getting interesting. Bring it on, Vincy."
Right after mailing the information, Devin closed his eyes but only her smiling face was popping up everywhere. I will not let anything happen to you.. That was a promise he made to himself the moment she crashed into his life.
