Chapter 219 E: Ten years late
When Lu Mengjie woke up from her nap, she found herself inside the arms of her mother.
Li Bingbing was sleeping and hugging her close together with Xia Liqin who was sleeping on Lu Mengjie’s other side.
Her mother was hugging her...
Lu Mengjie snuggled against her mother as her eyes started to become misty.
Li Bingbing was woken up when he felt her shirt becoming wet. When she turned to look at Lu Mengjie, she saw her shoulders shaking.
"Mengmeng? Are you alright?" Li Bingbing asked worriedly.
Lu Mengjie nodded but her face was still buried on her mother’s chest.
Li Bingbing let go of her before she sat up and saw her daughter crying. When she saw her this way, it broke her heart.
"Mama..." Lu Mengjie sat up and hugged her as she buried her face in her chest once again.
Li Bingbing bit her lower lip, it was her fault why Lu Mengjie was acting this way. She was not worthy to be called a mother because of this.
"I’m so sorry, Mengmeng..." Li Bingbing hugged her back close as tears welled up at the side of her eyes. "Mama is so sorry for hurting you."
"Mama... please don’t hate Mengmeng." Lu Mengjie begged as she faced her mother. "Mengmeng promise to be a good girl so, please... don’t leave Mengmeng."
"Oh sweetheart, I do not hate you. I will never hate you." She gently cupped her wet cheek and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "I love you, I really love you so much... I am sorry if I made you feel unloved... I am so sorry."
This was the scene Lu Xian Yu saw when he took a peek inside the room. He was glad that things started to look well for his daughter and for Li Bingbing.
"I promise... I promise that I will do my best to become a better mother for you and your brother."
----
Li Bingbing was searching for some stuff in the storage room when she suddenly saw a familiar red hoodie.
It was the hoodie that her father gave her and it was the hoodie that she left behind after she was chased by a group of boys.
Why was the hoodie in this storage room?
Li Bingbing was sure that it was her hoodie since there were LB initials sewed under the hoodie.
"Have you found the baseball gloves?" Lu Xian Yu asked when he entered the room.
When he saw the hoodie, Lu Xian Yu frowned as he was reminded of something in the past. "That’s still here? Give it to me, I will throw it away."
"This... where did you get this?" Li Bingbing asked as she turned to Lu Xian Yu.
Since it was not something important, Lu Xian Yu casually said, "It belongs to a girl who kicked me out of nowhere. Although my companion tried looking for her she managed to escape and that was the only thing that they found. I can’t believe that it’s still here."
Li Bingbing’s lips curled up after hearing what he said. So he was that boy ten and a half years ago.
"We’re not throwing this."
He furrowed his brows, "What? Why? That’s old and wear out, I can just buy you a new one."
Li Bingbing walked toward him and grinned, "This hoodie is mine." She showed the initials to him. "This is mine."
Lu Xian Yu’s eyes went wide in surprise, "Don’t tell me... you were that girl who kicked me ten years ago?"
"Ah, it really is funny how that boy I kicked out of frustrations became my husband now." Li Bingbing laughed lightly.
He couldn’t help but laugh lightly at how things turned out for them. "Do you think things will turn out different if I managed to catch you back then? Maybe I could have turned out to be your first love too. I am sure I would still find you attractive and intriguing."
Li Bingbing shrugged, "You’re already ten years late for that, you won’t be able to change it and besides, I would still be able to outrun you even if you were the one who ran after me, not your subordinates."
He went and hugged her by her waist, "Honey, you don’t know that. If it was me who ran after you, I would have easily caught you."
Li Bingbing rolled her eyes, "Yeah right, I would like to see you try."
"Mama, papa, what’s taking you so long?" Lu Mengjie asked as she entered the room, carrying a baseball bat.
"Mama, papa, let’s go play! Play!" Xia Liqin exclaimed happily.
Lu Xian Yu released Li Bingbing before he turned towards the kids with a wide smile on his lips, "Yes, yes, we’re coming. Liqin, don’t run in the hall."
Li Bingbing followed them after picking up the baseball gloves.
"Mama, are you going to play with us too?" Lu Mengjie asked as she looked up to her.
"I would really love that." She chuckled as she patted her head, "But you know that your papa won’t allow me right now."
Lu Mengjie reached out and touched her mother’s small bump. "Well... papa is right, mama can’t play since my baby brother number two won’t like it."
"What do you mean that he won’t like to play baseball? He will surely love it!"
