The Demon Queen's Contract

Chapter 34: Is that what you want me to do to you

After finishing my shower, I felt refreshed but my mind was still buzzing with thoughts from my earlier reading.

As Anara helped me into a casual yet elegant gown of deep burgundy, I decided to spd my afternoon in the library, immersing myself in something differt from romantic fiction.

"Shall we head to the library again?" Anara asked, her tone respectful but curious.

"Yes," I replied, th added with a slight smile, "Perhaps I can find another romance book. The last one I read was actually quite great."

Anara nodded, her eyes twinkling with amusemt. We made our way through the palace's labyrinthine corridors, the grandeur of the architecture never ceasing to amaze me. The library was a vast, majestic room filled with rows upon rows of books, a sanctuary of knowledge and imagination.

Once there, I decided to lean a bit into demon history before indulging in another romantic novel. The histories were complex, filled with tales of wars, treaties, and the intricate politics that shaped the currt landscape.

I found a particularly interesting volume titled "The Chronicles of Demonic Realms" and settled into a plush armchair to read.

The book delved into the ancit origins of demon society, detailing their customs, hierarchies, and significant historical evts. I lost myself in the , fascinated by the richness of the demon culture and their complex relationships with other supernatural beings. Hours slipped by unnoticed as I absorbed the information.

Anara approached quietly, her presce always soothing. "Que Elara, is there anything else you need?"

I looked up, realizing how much time had passed. "Actually, Anara, I think I'd like to find another romance book. The last one was... surprisingly captivating."

She smiled knowingly. "I'll help you find one. Let's see what the library has to offer."

We wandered through the aisles, searching for a book that would catch my interest. After a few minutes, my eyes landed on a beautifully bound volume titled "Enchanted Hearts." The cover depicted a moonlit gard with two shadowy figures intertwined, hinting at an chanting and mystical love story. I picked it up and read the synopsis:

"Amidst the chanting gards of the Faerie Realm, Lady Isolde, a gifted healer, is drawn into a forbidd romance with the igmatic and alluring fae prince, Thalion. As their love blossoms in secret, they must navigate treacherous court politics and ancit rivalries that threat to tear them apart. Will their love withstand the trials of fate, or will the forces against them prevail?"

It seemed promising. I decided to give it a try and settled back into my favorite chair by the window. The oping chapters were filled with lush descriptions of the Faerie Realm, painting a vivid picture of the magical world Isolde inhabited.

As the story unfolded, I became grossed in the developing romance betwe Isolde and Thalion, their connection growing deeper with each page.

Just as I was about to dive into another steamy chapter, a soft knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I looked up to see Seraphina standing in the doorway, her presce commanding as always.

"What are you reading?" she asked, her voice low and teasing.

Caught off guard, I didn't respond immediately. Seraphina strode into the room, her gaze fixed on the book in my hands. She moved closer, and before I could hide the page, she began to read aloud.

"He pressed her against the cool stone wall, his lips trailing fire down her neck as his hands roamed over her body. Isolde's breath hitched, her fingers tangling in Thalion's hair as he whispered promises of eternal devotion against her skin. Their bodies moved in perfect harmony, driv by an undiable need that consumed them both."

Seraphina's voice was husky, each word dripping with ssuality. My face flushed with embarrassmt, and I struggled to meet her gaze.

"Is that what you want me to do to you?" she asked, a wicked smirk playing on her lips.

I felt like I might die of shame. "No," I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper.

Her smirk wided. "It's time for dinner," she said, her tone still teasing as she stepped back. "Shall we?"

I nodded, grateful for the change of topic, and followed her to the dining hall. The long table was set with an array of exquisite dishes, the aromas making my stomach rumble. We took our seats, the ambit light casting a warm glow over the room.

As we began to eat, I couldn't help but steal glances at Seraphina. Her presce was magnetic, her every move graceful and deliberate. I gathered my courage and asked, "Where were you all day?"

She looked up, her expression unreadable. "I was on a mission," she replied simply, taking a sip of her wine.

"A mission?" I pressed, curious.

"Yes," she said, her eyes meeting mine. "There are always tasks that require my atttion. And tonight, I need to leave again."

Disappointmt flickered through me. "So soon?"

She nodded. "Duty calls. But don't worry, I'll be back before you know it."

The rest of the dinner passed in a comfortable silce, each of us lost in our thoughts. Despite the complex emotions swirling inside me, I found solace in the routine and the quiet momts we shared. As I finished my meal, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for us, and whether the connection we had would ever deep beyond the physical.

After dinner, I returned to my chambers, the evts of the day replaying in my mind. I picked up "Enchanted Hearts" once more, losing myself in the fantastical world of Isolde and Thalion. Their love story, though filled with its own challges, offered a welcome escape from my own complicated reality.

As I read on, I couldn't help but hope that one day, I might find a connection as deep and meaningful as theirs, ev if it wasn't with Seraphina. For now, the world of fiction would have to suffice, providing a brief respite from the demands and uncertainties of my life.

With a sigh, I turned the page, ready to lose myself once more in the passionate and mystical world of "Enchanted Hearts."
