Chapter 987: Draco Roseland Is Looking For Minerva
Chapter 987: Draco Roseland Is Looking For Minerva
Meanwhile, King Draco who already had the servants bring his belongings inside of his chambers was a man on the mission. Now that he was finally back in the lands of the gods, he would take this opportunity to find Minerva again.
Compared to Rowena who was unfamiliar with the place, it was almost like yesterday when he first came here to Cretea with Jadeith and Urther.
On his way to the tournament to godhood, he met a lot of people from countless different realms but those had been his steadfast companions. Neither of them won, and King Draco even betrayed Urther in the end during the test—but that was because it was every man for himself.
The less competition, the better.
And now he was finally back and it was time for him to search for Minerva. King Draco couldn't stop himself, he longed for the goddess so much after their encounter.
She was the only woman for him.
He stepped out of his room and made his way out of the Cretean Palace and into the heart of the city of gods.
King Draco's initial plan was to get the immortality potion and become immortal first and become more important before he met with her—he didn't believe the Queen of Cretea's words.
A mortal. Hero. King.
Those were just mere words to him and were statuses that he merely obtained while he was in the human realm. None of them meant anything to immortals in Cretea.
Even the things he was most proud of like his swordsmanship and scholarly knowledge was being tested and replaced.
King Draco was not a catch.
He was sadly a great soul trapped in a mortal body and it was up to him to seize and grab his full potential—and he was doing it now. After two decades of trying to raise a child meant to trap a young god and bring him back to Cretea, he hadn't and didn't let anything get in his way.
King Draco stopped in front of one of the buildings in one of the most frequented places of the city. It was actually the place where the Queen of Cretea recommended getting potions to avoid magical backlash and he could smell the scent of oils and smoke.
"It makes sense because she was a volunteer back then," King Draco murmured to himself almost dreamily.
He may not have won, but she stole his heart away during that encounter and never let it go.
King Draco stepped inside cautiously and then raised his gaze.
"Ah, a mortal? We don't get those often unless it's the tournament of godhood and the next one is coming up yet." A beautiful woman with long blue hair and golden eyes came to see him. She wore a pretty
pink dress and a flower crown on her hair, making her look like a really cute fairy. Minerva looked up at her first human customer. "How may I help you?"
"H-huh..." King Draco blinked and was startled.
He had fantasized about their meeting several times and it was always with that beautiful smile. She was the most beautiful, the kindest, and the most interesting woman he had ever met and it was love at first sight. A love that had been growing in his heart for almost two decades.
He finally met her again.
Oh, Minerva…
King Draco's eyes gleamed with tears. He smiled and greeted her with a hoarse voice. "Minerva…"
"You know my name?" Minerva smiled back. However, there was no hint of recognition whatsoever on her pretty face.
"You don't recognize me?" King Draco couldn't hide his disappointed voice.
"Um... should I?" Minerva tilted her head in confusion. "Have I seen you before? I don't recall."
Draco Roseland felt his chest tighten. Here stood the woman of his dreams, looking so beautiful as the last time he remembered her. She was so good to him back then. She treated his wounds and they talked about many things.
He looked away and stifled his bitter laughter. Of course. Twenty years had passed and now he looked much older. Even though he tried to maintain his physique, he was still just a mere mortal and age came to defeat him.
Draco Roseland was not an immortal like Minerva and the other gods and goddesses here who would always look ethereal young. He didn't even have magic with him. Unlike Urther and Jadeith, who both were magic users, he could only rely on his physical power and his brain.
King Draco's intelligence and wits were the only things that proved him atop others in his peer group—it was through sheer cunning and his ability to read the atmosphere that he learned how to rise to the top in the mortal world.
However, that didn't mean anything here, and the rejection of Minerva.
The fact that he was unrecognizable from his young handsome self when they met years ago filled him with bitterness.
Except for the fact that he was still madly in love.
While he couldn't get the immortality potion right away—there were other things he could do.
Options to make himself worthy of affection, but for now, he found himself unworthy.
"Have a good day, goddess." King Draco bowed his head once and then stepped out of the apothecary, only to find her soft hand on his wrist.
The goddess stopped him from le
aving and now he realized that his senses were slow and dull even compared to a goddess.
"I do not remember you, but it seems that you remember me." Minerva smiled kindly as her gaze looked at his face. "I apologize, my memory seems bad—would you like to help me recall them?"
King Draco gently tugged his arm away from her and shook his head. "It's fine. You don't have to force yourself now. Maybe another time you will recognize me."
"O-oh..." Minerva was surprised.
She thought that he would accept the offer, but he blew his chance of a conversation. Did he know that?
It didn't seem like he did.
