Chapter 276 King Alexander's Wrath
Chapter 276 King Alexander's Wrath
"Do not take a single step away from me, Loriel," King Alexander said. "I have not granted you permission to leave just yet. You will not leave until I am finished with my query, and thankfully, I only have one. What did you do?"
Loriel flinched for a moment but quickly raised his gaze despite himself. Even if King Alexander was a powerful man, surely it was better for him to not know, right?
Loriel was sure that he'd be in more trouble if his father-in-law realized what happened.
Loriel stood up and tried to speak with him on the level of them both being rulers. "Your Majesty… it is only a quarrel between husband and wife. I am sure that you understand—"
"Silence," King Alexander said.
Loriel found his lips sealing as if they were sewn together. He watched King Alexander rub his forehead and sigh aloud. "It seems that Elise has decided to leave you, but why has she not come here?"
Loriel tried to speak but couldn't.
King Alexander glanced at him and only frowned. "You tell me that my daughter has left and you are searching for her because you are worried, but there is no need for any of that. She is more than capable."
Loriel wanted to shake his head and explain himself. He wanted to tell King Alexander that Elise needed to take the vitamins and she shouldn't be running around at all.
"However, as a father… Even though I know my daughter can handle herself, I want to hold you accountable. Elise would have never left if there was any chance for reconciliation between the two of you. So speak and tell me the entire truth, Loriel Ashborn."
Loriel didn't know what to say at first, but then he suddenly started explaining himself. The entire truth came out of him as if a truth spell was cast on him and everything came out.
Even the things that Loriel forgot came out of his lips.
"...finally, I told Elise about her mother's protection spell when I was drunk and couldn't remember it. But I told her back then that her mother was a wicked witch who ruined my life and that I have an excuse for my behavior. Divorce was what I wanted."
His eyes widened when he said it.
King Alexander Leoralei rose furiously from his throne and started making his way to Loriel as the lightning pillars dispelled around him.
Loriel would wish that the pillars stayed because after a single step forward towards him, fire spun in King Alexander's fist and he punched Loriel in the face.
A searing pain overcame Loriel's body and he didn't even dodge because of how shell-shocked he was of everything that happened. It felt like he was deserving of this treatment and King Alexander agreed for once.
"This is for my beloved wife," King Alexander said after another punch in the face. This time, it was an ice shard that slashed against Loriel's face, and before it caused more damage to him. Loriel's body ducked on its own.
Loriel's survival instincts were working and he was terribly afraid that he might have died if King Alexander actually laid a hand on him. The fire left his cheek burning with first-degree burns and the ice would have frozen him.
Instead, his face started to bleed and King Alexander didn't even bat an eye. A strong gust of wind threw Loriel towards the throne room's pillars and his entire body ached as he dropped to the ground.
"And for the pain you caused my most cherished daughter?" King Alexander said. "This is hardly enough, Loriel Ashborn."
Even though Loriel's body was incredibly strong due to the magic crystal the fairy once gave him, he would start to feel battered and bruised because of King Alexander's might. The pacifist king was now thrashing him around like it was nothing.
This was the height of power that Loriel was always amazed of.
Until finally, King Alexander grasped at his chest and started to wheeze. Loriel wasn't sure if the strain of magic finally appeared again because he remembered that the king was sick on his last visit before.
However, before anything else could happen, the throne room doors suddenly opened.
A man that Loriel had met once, years ago, when he was trying to help Emmelyn break the curse, suddenly entered the throne room. This man was much younger than King Alexander but with a powerful aura even stronger than the older king.
Raphael looked around the throne room and cleared his throat when he saw the mess. Then, his eyes widened as he saw King Alexander.
"Your Majesty, I told you not to strain yourself any further by using magic," Raphael clicked his tongue, quickly healed the king with his power, and tossed a look at Loriel suspiciously.
Loriel's face was bloodied and he was also bruised to the bone. He was surprised that King Alexander's face returned back to a healthy color and the older man was now breathing normally.
He was not given the same treatment. Instead, the God of Healing narrowed his eyes at Loriel and frowned heavily.
"We meet again, Loriel." Raphael smiled faintly. He raised his hand and spoke calmly. "You should retain yourself if you wish to live. You are in the kingdom of Myreen and will be punished accordingly."
King Alexander inclined his head. "Thank you, Raphael, for joining me in this hour. I was able to punish my son-in-law accordingly because I knew you were coming."
Raphael winced slightly and looked at King Alexander. "For an old man, you truly are strong. Wait… son-in-law? This is Elise's husband?"
Loriel's eyes widened and he approached the man. "Do you know where my wife is? How do you know Elise?"
"My daughter met with the God of Healing so I could recover, she brought him back to heal me," King Alexander explained with a weak cough. He was still upset, but he now knew that his daughter was pregnant. King Alexander couldn't actually let the man die and for his grandchild to become fatherless.
Raphael looked at Loriel curiously but then nodded. "I have taught Elise how to use healing magic before. I believe I may call her a friend of mine… but what do you mean that she has left?"
Loriel gave a quick account of what happened that Raphael found himself aghast at what happened. It made the King of Summeria wince.
He looked at Loriel and said one word. "Scumbag."
have Elise judge me herself instead of running away from me. I wish to make it up to her but if I "I know, what I did was unforgivable…" Loriel's head hung low. "And I want to pay for my sins and don't even know where she is."
Raphael looked plainly at Loriel and sighed. He actually had an inkling of where Elise was and it was because he was in the Mountain of Cretea and conversing with some gods before during his way back to Myreen.
The other gods told him that Dante was back in Cretea and the curse inflicted to him was lifted. Raphael's fellow gods even whispered that Dante was visited by the very person who saved him.
