The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 114: Challenge(1)

Chapter 114: Challenge(1)

At his past life, Ling Tian was able to realize a Peak Heaven Grade Dao at the Fifth Stage! This was even higher than Tang Luo and Xiao Ya who were able to only have an Initial Heaven Grade Dao at the Fifth Stage.

Each Grade of Dao or Law can be divided in three stages namely Early, Middle and Peak Stages. The Early Stage is the part after the upgrade of the Dao/Law Grade. At this stage, the practitioner had not completely digested his/her new insights.

The Middle Stage is where all the insights have been fully understood by the practitioner. The practitioner will then be able to freely use all the power given by the insights.

As for the Peak Stage, it is where the practitioner successfully consolidates his/her insights on their body. This further strengthens the practitioner, and this consolidation sets the foundation for the next upgrade.

The difference between a Peak Heaven Grade Dao and an Initial Heaven Grade Dao was enough to make Ling Tian dominate against Tang Luo.

But because of a seal on his cultivation, Ling Tian cannot fully use the power given by his Peak Heaven Grade Dao.

With his cultivation at the Foundation Establishment Stage, the strongest power that he can exert was of a Peak Emperor Grade Dao. If he can get his hands on the complete Pan Gu Divine Tablet, he can use it remove a part of the seal and bring him to Initial Earth Grade! If possible, he might also reach the Middle Earth Grade.

He had a grim smile as he looked at the Skydome Family Entourage. They were composed of practitioners from the Second Stage until the Fourth Stage.

As for the Second Stage Practitioners, Ling Tian paid no heed to them. With his experience, he determined that none of them can even pose a threat to him. Ling Tian was invincible at the Second Stage. He will just crush them like dry weeds.

Ling Tian then brought his attention to the higher-level threats. There were 10 Third Stage Practitioners and one Fourth Stage Practitioner. Ling Tian knew that as of now, the best he can do was to fight against a Third Stage Practitioner.

Aside from the seal, Ling Tian also had to hide his true fighting style to keep his identity a secret.

As for his fighting style, it can be easily deduced from his title, Million Hand Sword God.

Ling Tian walks the path of the sword. For him, if two swords were not enough to defeat his opponent, then make it 4! If not, then make it 8!

This then led to his signature fighting style of using countless swords against his opponents.

With his cultivation base now, the most number of swords that Ling Tian can use was around 1000 only. Once he steps in the Third Stage it will be raised to 10,000

At the Fourth Stage, it will be 100,000

At the Fifth Stage it will be 1,000,000!

As for the swords that he can wield, their quality depends on the Dao Grade that Ling Tian had. The higher the Dao Grade, the better swords he can use.

Because he was hiding his real strength now, Ling Tian can only display around 100 swords publicly, or 10% of his current fighting ability.

But with his Dao Grade, these 100 swords were enough for him to decimate everyone at the Second Stage. If he wants to fight against the Third Stage Practitioners with his Peak Emperor Dao Grade, he had to use all 1,000 of his swords.

But he will only do this if the situation requires him to. As of now, he can see 6 Third Stage Practitioners from the rebel side. He can sense that each of them was no ordinary practitioner. He knew they might be enough to slow down the 10 Third Stage Practitioners of the Skydome Family.

As for the Fourth Stage Practitioner and the Prince, Ling Tian already have an idea how to stop them.

While the three sides were all tensed, Ling Tian stepped forward. He addressed the prince directly as he said,

“You know what happens if we all fight now. Many will surely die, and even if you have a strong bodyguard, you have a possibility of dying too.”

The prince remained silent, clearly aware of this too. Ling Tian took his silence as a cue for him to continue talking.

“How about this? You and me, we fight each other. If I win, you go back to your mountain. Whatever you do next will be up to you already. If you win, all 23 of us Immortal God Sect Disciples will turn ourselves in. As for the rebel army, just do what you want with them.”

The prince smiled when he heard Ling Tian’s offer. His eyes burned with the intent to battle as he excitedly said,

“It’s a deal!”

“But Young Master!” The Fourth Stage Practitioner beside the prince tried to stop him. “That Ling Tian was considered to be one of the most talented practitioners of the Immortal God Sect. Even with your skills I fear....”

“Why should I fear him! We practitioners were born to test our limits! If I do not accept his challenge, I might as well cripple myself!”

“What a musclehead!” Ling Tian and Wang Hao thought at the same time.

“Fine....” The Fourth Stage Practitioner had no choice but to relent. He stared at Ling Tian as he said, “If you attempt to kill Young Master, I will immediately behead you. I will display your body at the Capital City, and I will send your head back to your lovely sect!”

“Roger that.” Ling Tian lazily replied.

“Senior Brother!” Most of the Immortal God Sect Disciples were touched upon hearing such noble declaration from Ling Tian. Even Li Min who had been fiercely against him seemed to be a little worried for him.

As for Fang Yu and Tang Ya, their eyes brightened as if they were excited to see the incoming match. Empyrea just stood beside them, clearly disinterested at the turn of events.

Wang Hao had a peeved look on his face as he realized that Ling Tian managed to find himself a way out. He had no choice but to watch as Ling Tian and the prince got into 1 meter of each other.

Ling Tian clasped his hands as he bowed slightly towards his opponent. “Ling Tian here. Let’s have a good match!”

“Prince Orwell here. Let’s have a good match.” Prince Orwell smiled as he suddenly disappeared.

Ling Tian narrowed his eyes as he jumped back.

The place where he had been earlier was now stabbed with a rapier. Prince Orwell held rapiers with both of his hands. He gave an impressed look at Ling Tian as he said,

“Not bad, let’s see how you dodge my next attacks.”

“Woosh.”

............

From what Ling Tian knew, the cultivators of the Skydome Family focus on Sky-related Daos.

Any living beings that roam the sky had the innate talent of flight. As such, all cultivators of the SKydome Family controls the domain of flight.

But this control is not just related to flying. Those who practice Sky Dao can be considered the fastest practitioners, second only to lightning and light cultivators.

Wherever they fight, they can treat that as if they were in the air. That means even if they were in the ground or underwater, their movements will be as fast as their movements in the sky.

All in all, Sky Dao cultivators focus on their movement speed and flight abilities.

When he first read about this, Ling Tian snorted to himself, thinking,

“What kind of spells and abilities can they even use? Their Dao is related to the Sky! What else can they do besides flying and moving fast?”

.................

Every attack done by Prince Orwell had been easily dodged by Ling Tian. Even though Prince Orwell can move fast, Ling Tian easily know where he will appear next.

Aside from swords, Ling Tian can also manipulate any objects. As of now, he had placed 1,000 small grains of sand around him. Every movement of Prince Orwell can be easily detected by the sand grains, alerting Ling Tian on where he will appear next.

“Is that all you can do?’ Ling Tian provokingly said to Prince Orwell after his 100th miss. “It seems like you can only fly and squack like a bird!”

“You want to see what I can do? Well then, Flightbane!”

“Boom!”

Suddenly, Ling Tian felt that his whole body became 50 times heavier than it was. This took him by surprise as his body crashed to the ground. The ground cracked as he fell quite hard.

Ling Tian managed to stand up, albeit with some difficulty. He felt that with how heavy his body was now, it will be harder for him to dodge Prince Orwell’s attacks.

“What is this?” Ling Tian barely managed to open his mouth as the struggled to ask Prince Orwell.

“Oh, do you know that all normal creatures that fly had to keep their body as light as possible to be able to fly? Of course, those with qi and mana can just use it to fly. The point is, my Dao makes me want to reject anything the ability to fly!”

Prince Orwell waved his hands as he continued,

“As such, most of my Daoist spells were made to restrict my opponents through weight manipulation or movement obstruction.”

“Rejection of flight huh...”

“So, just stand there and receive this attack of mine!” Prince Orwell disappeared once more in the air. Ling Tian knew where he will appear next, but right now, his body has not yet adapted to its new weight.

“Swish!”

Both of Prince Orwell’s rapiers whistled through the air as they stabbed towards the trapped Ling Tian!

“...”
