Chapter 74 - 74 The Person Who Had Been Following Her
74 The Person Who Had Been Following Her
Yuan Hui unhesitantly turned around to ensure that the wall was 6 meters tall. She couldn’t fathom the fact that Zhao Chuchu was able to leap over it while carrying her.
She was so shocked that it took her a while to react.
“Chuchu, are you a ranger?” She finally asked. “Only rangers could do that!”
“Let’s just say that I am.” Zhao Chuchu chuckled.
Zhao Chuchu did not know any flying arts, but her jumping ability and speed were stronger than any known flying arts.
She would be even stronger if she were at her peak form.
“You’re amazing!”
“Right? Did you find newly-found respect for me?”
“Can I become your disciple?”
“No can do. You don’t have the structure to learn it.”
Zhao Chuchu quickly found an excuse to refuse since she didn’t gain her power through training.
Yuan Hui was a little disappointed. Yet, she still hugged Zhao Chuchu even tighter.
She only remembered being carried by someone when she was little. Her father would carry her around all the time. However, ever since her mother passed away, she had never felt safe again until now.
“Where is the county office?” Zhao Chuchu asked as that was her first time there.
When she came to cure the plague last time, there weren’t many people infected by it in the county, and she didn’t want to risk bringing the virus into it.
Yuan Hui pointed the way for Zhao Chuchu.
It only took them a few minutes to reach the office.
“I’ll take my leave first, then. You can knock on the door on your own, right?’ Zhao Chuchu said as she put Yuan Hui down?”
“Aren’t you going to meet my uncle-in-law?”
“No. There will be some things that are hard to explain. Just tell them that you’ve been resting in the town.”
It would be hard to explain how they managed to sneak into the county late into the night.
“Okay. Thank you so much, Chuchu…” Yuan Hui grabbed Zhao Chuchu’s hand. “Can I hug you before you leave?”
Zhao Chuchu opened her arms wide. There was no way she would refuse a hug.
Yuan Hui hugged her savior tightly. It was as if she was trying to gain courage from her.
After a while, Yuan Hui stepped back and said, “I’m fine now.”
Zhao Chuchu gently patted Yuan Hui’s shoulder and turned. In just a few seconds, she had disappeared into the darkness.
However, she didn’t leave right away. Instead, she hid and watched Yuan Hui.
It had been days since Yuan Hui was in that accident, but there was no rescue attempt from the magistrate.
Either the magistrate didn’t want the world to learn about it, or he was a part of it.
Since she had already saved Yuan Hui, she had decided to see it to the end.
Yuan Hui took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
After a few seconds, the door opened a little. “Who the hell is it… Ah!” The guard gasped when he saw Yuan Hui. “C-cousin Yuan Hui?”
“Yes…”
The guard gulped, and it took him a few seconds to make sure that Yuan Hui was alive, and he quickly let her in.
He was about to announce her return, but she quickly stopped him.
The magistrate lived behind the county office.
Yuan Hui’s aunt only had the time to put on a coat, and she quickly came rushing out. The moment she saw Yuan Hui, tears filled her eyes. “You’re back! What happened? I was so scared that something might’ve happened to you!”
Yuan Hui looked at her aunt and her uncle-in-law, whose eyes were filled with worries. The lady cried as she hugged her aunt tightly.
“Thank God you’re finally back.” The magistrate smiled.
Zhao Chuchu, still hiding, confirmed that the magistrate had nothing to do with the attack and left after that.
However, the moment she left the county, someone stopped her.
Zhao Chuchu frowned as it was the same person who had been following her.
“Aren’t you going to let them know that you were the one who saved her?” The person turned around and smiled. “That’s not like you, Ms. Zhao. Could it be that you…”
His sentence was immediately cut short.
