Chapter 93: [Dave's POV]

Chapter 93: [Dave's POV]

*Ring*

*Ring*

Dave's new smartphone started ringing just as he reached his home on the beach coast.

He had just reached home after finishing long and tiring paper works back in his guild office.

Without moving his torso, Dave in a quick motion took out his phone from his jean pocket and opened the door to his room.

"Hm?"

Dave perched his eyebrows as he read the name displaying on his new phone gifted to him by Raka.

"Cypher?"

The text, which was in black, was flashing rapidly as a caller tune welcomed Dave's attention. It was a tune he had never heard before. The phone itself was a new one, he acquired it in a parcel which was mailed by Raka in front of his guild house.

There was a memo affixed with the parcel, which helped him instigate and stimulate the services of the modern device.

The memo the parcel contained was also an answer to Dave's striking disarray about what those weird poles Raka had asked him to prep around the continent.

It was a 'Signal Tower' according to the memo sent by Raka.

Dave would always marvel, about how his teammate and comrade Raka was this proficient in concocting these sorts of gadgets, which were basically out of his cognition reasoning.

.....

His parents were in the kitchen, cutting onions and beans. It was already 7.30 pm. They were preparing for dinner.

Dave nodded to his Dad's high-pitched singing as he closed the door behind him... It was pretty good, he reckoned.

Without another delay, Dave swiped right and accepted the call from his captain.

"Yes, Captain?"

Dave spoke into the smartphone microphone.

It took no time for the reply to arrive from the phone receiver.

"Ah... Dave, we've got a problem"

Cypher's voice was deep and soothing but the way he spoke to Dave seemed that something did trouble him.

"Tell me, captain"

Dave said as he shuffled closer to his bathroom. It was a very tough day, he at least needed a good chilling bath, to wash off the built-up stress waltzing inside his body.

"I'll tell you face to face. Now what I need you to do is to rest for some time, do what you want during your break and arrive in front of the Guild house in an hour"

"Eh?... Ok, Captain, as you say"

Dave spoke just in time as the call ended.

He waddled back to his side table and stationed his smartphone with care on the smooth polished surface.

Just as the hand freed his smartphone from it, he shrugged.

"*Sigh* This is hella exhausting..."

He sighed and whirled back, he forced his bored legs to start walking back to his bathroom. At least he would get a nice bath.

It was a tough day at his Guild Office, mainly because he was the vice-captain. Dave had a tough time going through a lot of recruitment applications from Revokers all around the continents.

Dave seriously hated paperwork... when he was conscripted by Cypher, the strongest man alive, to join his guild as the vice-captain, he thought his life was going to be brimming with battles and hardships.

And all there for him in his life was comfort... yet hardships didn't slacken their clutch over him. Of course, there were hardships... Hardships of going through millions of recruitment letters all day long, sitting and sweating his butt out.

If he remembered it correctly, then he was never called for battles since he joined 'The SpearHead'. All he was battling were papers in his air-conditioned room.

It had been almost a year since he last explored a dungeon. He missed the gore and the pleasure he reaped when he amputated and tore monsters apart.

It found him contentment, the monsters were just toys for him... they were just toys for him to disburse his resentment on since the king didn't give a fuck about his childhood friend after he disappeared.

Yet something inside him told, there was a bigger picture. A huger picture that he was neglecting... or plainly, he couldn't perceive.

Dave shook his bouncing thoughts off from his mind and walked towards his bathroom after grabbing his towel from his wardrobe.

Dave removed his clothes part by part as he slowly caught up with the attached bathroom in his room.

His captain needed him. If he recollected it right, then this was the first time he was needed this urgently by Cypher.

Dave switched on the lucid bulb and closed the door behind him. He hanged his silk towel on the hook and without squandering another second, he switched the shower on and regulated the temperature to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

The freezing water galloped through his yellow hair and burnished body, making his hair slick onto his skull. The water seeped down to the marble floor from his body and streamed to the sink at the very end.

"Ahh... This is heaven"

Dave uttered as the bone freezing water poured down his face and to the floor. His head was simmering with twinge and fatigue. But he felt relieved as the chilling water stream, without a pause, massaged them, making the conflagration inside extinguish itself.

At least now, at the crack of twilight, Dave could function to his fullest for whatever his captain called him for.

And as he thought before, about his days in 'The SpearHead', Dave didn't have to be in any remorse about not getting an opportunity to battle demons for a whole. In just a matter of hours, a day at the very maximum, he would soon be called to battle the 'Nine-Tailed Demon Foxes'.

"Or... wait"

Dave paused as he switched off the shower and grabbed his towel.

"Why do I feel like he called me for that now?..."

......

Dave was lit in his room. His hair was still slicked to his head because of the dampness, but there was no time to dry them. He grabbed trousers from his wardrobe along with a summer shirt.

Why did he grab his vacation attire?. He didn't know that himself!!. He just snatched whatever fabric he saw first on his wardrobe and jumped inside them in a jiffy.

Dave jumped through his window and landed right in front of his villa gate. There was no time for him to stride down his stairs and explain things to his parents.

Even though his captain had advised him to rest for some time, his body and his guts weren't permitting him to take a break. His blood pumped through his veins hauling large heaps of adrenaline in them.

It was just a guess of his, but the reason why his leader called him, that is according to his propensity, could've been a call for help... a call to battle!!.

The Battle between 'The SpearHead' VS 'The Home Of The Nine Tails' !!.
